This is a great place to stay overnight or for a long period of time! The staff is friendly, the rooms are great, the staff is helpful with getting you around. They have people that will pick you up at the airport and help you get to where you need to go! I would recommend this place! it also helps fund an outreach to street children in Addis. You can stay at a great place and help youth of Addis out! You won't regret staying here!

After staying at another guest home is Addis their is no comparison! The food, staff and accommodation here are far superior to it's competition! It's a little remote but well worth the extra travel time.

Food is great, service is great rooms are large and clean, very low rates. I like that I can book a room with a phone call to the proprietor in the US and the hotel is run by local people. A great model and the profits benefit the orphans and street children.

This place is rated the best to stay in Addis on Trip advisor so it was easy to decide to book us here. The rates are good with airport pick-up and drop which were supposed to be included in the price but which we had to pay for. The guest house is located very far from Bole Airport, a 30 minute drive with no traffic and so far off Addis' attractions. The house is relatively clean but unlike the ensuite room we booked, we got one with the bathroom outside the room. Thankfully not a shared bathroom. The food was rather bland, catering largely to a western palate, (we were really hoping for Ethiopian fare, got pasta, lasagne instead). There is a mosque and church very close to the guest house and both can be very noisy when you are trying to get some sleep. The staff is friendly enough. The driver that was provided was very nice and even doubled up as our tour guide. His rates were also reasonable, probably the highlight of our trip.

If you want to experience Addis I would recommend picking a place on Bole road, which is in the heart of the capital city.

Response from Carrie B, Guest Relations Manager at Bethel Guest Home
Responded 6 Apr 2014
We highly value our guests’ opinions, and always want to make every effort to ensure that each guest is extremely pleased with their stay. We sincerely apologize for any confusion regarding transportation and we wish we had of known of the issue while you were staying with us, as we would have corrected the situation immediately. You are correct, there is not a charge for transportation from the airport to the guest home, and you should have not been charged. We apologize if that mistake was made and you were charged. We have sent you a response email and if you would mind to please reply, we would be happy to refund the transportation charge if you paid for your airport arrival transportation. As stated on our website, the transportation from the airport to the hotel is complimentary; however, our guests are responsible for their transportation thereafter. We are always happy to help arrange transportation for our guests – our drivers are top notch. Furthermore, we have a number of different suite options, as listed on our website. Many of our rooms have a bathroom en suite, but the room that was booked for your stay had a private bathroom just outside of the suite. It is at our guest’s decision upon booking which layout and price range they would like to choose. The majority of our guests are westerners, so our menu planning tends to cater to a more mild palate; however, we are more than happy to accommodate our guests who desire a traditional Ethiopian dinner, if given notice to plan accordingly. The location of Bethel Guest Home is highly desired by many travelers for its safety and residential neighborhood, while being only a short drive to downtown, many nice shops, restaurants and popular attractions. The current road construction is currently causing some minor delays in the commute at times, but this is a temporary situation. Our staff and drivers are pleased to recommend restaurants and shops in the area if our guests desire to remain close to the guest home during their vacation; however, part of the experience is exploring the surrounding area through one of our professional drivers or guides. At Bethel Guest Home, our guests always come first and we strive to make your time here the best it can possibly be. Our staff’s number one goal is to please our guests and we always want to know how to make your trip more enjoyable. We thank you for choosing the Bethel Guest Home for your stay in Addis, and we hope that your time in Ethiopia was delightful.

The Guest House is a very nice place to stay. The staff is excellent!! They are willing and eager to help in any way. After staying for 10 days they became family. If the accommodations and friendly staff aren't reason enough to stay, the profit from this house goes to help street children in Addis Ababa. I have personally met some of these children and it is a blessing to, in some small way, be able to help. You can too! Stay at the Bethel Guest House.

I cannot say enough about this place. This was my first time to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and loved my experience. This was largely due to my stay at Bethel Guest Home. The staff was welcoming and hospitable! As a 20 year old female, the staff took great care and assured my safety. All employees went out of their way to help me in anyway possible. They were great with directions and suggesting how to navigate around the city. Many times they were willing to travel along side us just to make sure we understood. This living quarter is truly conducted as a home where beautiful friendships are developed with local staff workers and other travelers rotating through the facility. The breakfast was delicious every morning and is also a great place to meet other travelers. Bethel Guest Home provides the opportunity to escape into your own living quarters for quiet time alone to yourself as well as open common areas for meeting and gathering with new friends. The wifi was very convenient for communicating to loved ones. In addition, the kitchen was available for use to cook in for other meals throughout the day. I cannot say enough about this guest home. I would not stay anywhere else if I were traveling back to Addis Ababa. It is highly recommended.

Bethel guest home is a wonderful reflection of a wonderful country. I wasn't certain of what to expect during my first visit but was delighted with my experience. This was due in no small part to the extraordinary service and hospitality afforded me by the staff and management of Bethel guest home. I am already planning my next visit to Ethiopia, and Bethel Guest Home will most certainly be my hotel of choice.

I just recently got back from staying at Bethel in Ethiopia for about 3 1/2 weeks. I went over for the adoption of our 2 daughters and we stayed at Bethel as we waited to clear Embassy. I loved everything about the guest house. The staff was AWESOME!! They were so helpful in many ways and my daughters and I felt very safe there. The suite we stayed in was spacious and very clean, anytime we needed something, we just asked. The food was delicious and we were offered traditional foods for my daughters who are picky. When we played outdoors, the guards would even jump in and play with us, my daughters loved it. The guest house had a few balls that we could kick around, and even pulled out rope so we could make a jump rope!. Plus the courtyard, is nice in size, where you can play outside without running into a wall. The beds are comfortable and the plumbing works. In fact, they pay to bring water in just for the guests, so we have water all the time. When the power goes out (they have no control over this) they pull out candles if you are sitting in the waiting/family area. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay and someday when our whole family goes back to visit, we will for sure stay at Bethel!!

This was our third trip to Ethiopia and our first time staying at Bethel Guest Home. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff is wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We were traveling with our four children and felt very comfortable letting them wander the compound, knowing they would be safe. They even engaged the guard in a game of soccer! The breakfasts are outstanding and, as a previous reviewer noted, definitely cater to a western palate. I'm guessing most guests staying at Bethel are western and most probably enjoy the comfort of western food for breakfast. I know we did! We got our fill of Ethiopian cuisine at lunch and dinner. A previous reviewer mentioned the noise from the mosque. We have stayed in other parts of the city and have found that the noise is rather universal as most churches and mosques are outfitted with speakers to broadcast their prayers. The noise can be disturbing no matter where you stay. I recommend earplugs or downloading a white noise app on your phone. LIFESAVER! Trust me! Bethel is extremely clean, and you can tell the cleaning staff works hard to keep standards high. Finally, we LOVE what Bethel is doing for the street children of Addis! We look forward to returning to Bethel next year.

Whether you are needing a place to stay for business or pleasure reasons you don't want to stay anywhere else. The Bethel Guest Home offers everything you need in the form of amenities and service. The staff is excellent and friendly; always ready to meet your needs. We just came back from an 8 day stay and couldn't have been more pleased. The chef and staff were so accommodating to meet some specific dietary needs. They also helped arrange transportation as we needed it. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The fact that the profits go to assist the ministry to street children is a great reason to choose to stay at Bethel Guest Home. This was our second time to stay at Bethel Guest Home. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

"The room we stayed in was perfect for our situation. We stayed on the first floor and the suite had lots of closets with a queen bed in it. Inside the suite was a small room where there was a set of bunk beds and then off that room was the bathroom. The room was big and spacious and had a door to close to the small room, so while the girls were sleeping, I could leave the light on and have some quiet time."

"They have rooms to accommodate just about any size in your party. The rooms on the far side (away from the entrance) look out at another building whereas the other side near the entrance had a more panoramic view. Of course I was on the 1st floor so it made no difference which side you were on there....the other side would give you a view of the wall surrounding the guesthouse."

"The rooms are all very nice. Don't forget a sweater though -- it's chilly as Addis is so high above sea level. I also had a mosquito chase me around the room for a little bit until I unpacked the bug repellent."
