About

#33 of 172 Speciality lodging in Serengeti National Park
Internationally renowned for the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet, The Serengeti National Park located in north west Tanzania is the ultimate ‘wildlife show’ on earth. Across the globe authors and filmmakers have come to document the Annual Migration of hundreds of thousands of animals, but there is still only one way to understand and experience the true magnificence of this natural phenomena and that is to be part of it. Serengeti Migration Camp is the embodiment of the ‘camp’ experience. Located next to the famous Grumeti River which is home to resident hippos that bark and wallow their days away, Serengeti Migration Camp has become synonymous with low-impact high-action game viewing in a landscape that is untouched since the dawn of time.

To Alex, Rashid, Said, and everyone at Migration Camp: THANK YOU for the most incredibly stay in the Serengeti. We worked with a travel agent to book our honeymoon safari and she highly recommended Elewana Migration Camp. From the moment we arrived on the Lobo airstrip and were greeted by our guide Alex with cookies, coffee, and tea, we knew we were in for an amazing trip. The whole staff greeted us waving upon our arrival at the camp and we were introduced to Rashid, who was our go-to throughout our time there. He arranged our packed breakfasts and lunches for our drives (eating delicious food in the middle of the bush was unreal!), made sure we had tea and coffee on early mornings, and generally made us feel so taken care of. We stayed in one of the "tents" (they are so much more glam than that, with a king bed and beautiful bathroom) with a direct view of the camp's neighbors, a family of hippos. It was a hint of what we'd see on our drives, including a family of elephants with 3 babies, a pride of 12 lions resting after a big meal, and the great migration. (We just kept saying "wow!") Alex taught us so much about the animals and how they live; he is like an encyclopedia. (Do a walking safari with him for sure!) But what we really will never forget is the incredible service at Migration Camp. To sum it up: on our last night, the staff performed a goodbye song for us, which ended with the delivery of a cake decorated with a hippo. So sweet, literally and figuratively. A lot of people only stay for one or two nights, but we loved and recommend staying for 4. We saw everything we dreamed of (a cheetah running with two babies, anyone?!) and got to get to know some super special people in the process. We hope to come back one day to relive it all over again. <3

Property's Favourite Review
We stayed here for a couple of days and fell in love with the place and people. We had a warm welcome from the manager and staff which, after a long drive, was much appreciated. Very nice location built into a hill side and views over the river and countryside around with super sunsets. The whole site is high quality. The tent we had was lovely, bags of space and views from the balcony. Animals come in the Camp, especially hippo and we heard lions one night, and indeed they do live in the rocks just at the back of the camp but are no bother. Food was very good - we took away a recipe for a super soup we have one evening and are yet to get it to the excellent quality we had at the Camp. The last evening we ate outdoors close to the river - unforgettable experience. Staff were all lovely and helpful. Simon, the manager, was delightful and runs a top quality Camp. Lots of game just outside the Camp and in Migration time you evidently are surrounded by migrating animals Loved it and would recommend strongly

We finished hiking Kilimanjaro and immediately went on Safari! Migration Camp was the perfect place to continue our honeymoon! The rooms are private, romantic and beautiful. We loved seeing the hyrax playing and hearing the hippos snorting at night. Our safari guide was knowledgeable, accommodating and always looking for a way to make our experience special (we saw upwards of 40 lion including mature males!!!) Most importantly, the staff made our experience perfect. Elewana will welcome you to your "home away from home". They mean it. Our entire experience was made more special because of the amazing team that went above and beyond. They washed all our clothes/equipment from the hike. Romantic dinners were planned in different locations on the property every night. Go and see the sunset! Go have a glass of Dawa! Migration Camp was an amazing Safari experience!

Stayed at Elewana Migration, Pioneer, Manor, Arusha, and Kilindi over 2 weeks late August 2021 and early September 2021 - the staff, properties, team, and every experience was top notch. Having been fortunate to experience many countries, properties, and experiences throughout the world, Elewana and their team are in the top 0.01%. From start to finish, truly special and highly recommend. Each property has a unique character, but consistent service, truly caring staff, and nothing is beyond the reach despite being in remote areas. Could not ask for anything better. Highly recommend.

August - 2021 Three night stay during Serengeti safari. First rate camp. Excellent service, friendly staff, exceeded our expectations. Arrived to camp after a long transit drive through the South and Central Serengeti. Located aside the Gremeti River set into an escarpment with great views. Very warm welcome, camp intro from manager, bags to the tent, we went straight to happy hour on the viewing platform. First of several excellent meals (all plated meal service) in the dining tent before retiring to the luxury tented room. Open camp required escort to tent as you could hear the hippos nearby. Room turned down, hot water bottles in bed, sherry and biscuits nightcap, perfect. Room was nicely appointed and spacious, decent amenities and linens. Early morning before dawn game drive (no drives with the camp - we had a private driver/guide), radio to get escort to main tent, quick coffee then go. The chef had packed excellent breakfast and lunch hampers. Today was a long drive (3 hours+ each way) to view the crossing of the Great Migration at the Mara River. Return to camp after exciting day just in time for happy hour and dinner. Great sundowner drinks and snack followed by an excellent dinner. Enjoyed a shorter day of game drive the following day, having already witnessed the river crossing, but still spotting 27 Serengeti lions on drive then enjoyed another excellent chef prepared bush lunch picnic hamper on the plain. Our chance to enjoy the camp amenities that afternoon were damped by a huge thunderstorm so we enjoyed cocktails in the main lounge until dinner. Next morning we were off to another camp. All things considered a great experience. Excellent staff - special thanks to Safina - food and beverage staff, Honorisa? - room steward, Fatale - night security, and the Chef for absolute service. Like most remote camps, day laundry service was included, and returned in the evening. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful. This is a true tented safari bush camp at the end of a bumpy 4-wd track in the beautiful Serengeti. Spotted hippos during breakfast, elephants in the evening near the camp, monkeys trying to steal food. Great Serengeti location for game drives. Amazing how well they pull off this level of service and food in this logistically challenged remote location - well done Elewana.
