The lobby of the hotel is pretty dated and feels very 1990s. Though it is very clean. The check in process was very nice and the lady working was quite friendly. I, however, was not offered any upgrade despite the hotel not even being close to Filled.
The room was modern looking but it was a little rough around the edges. Someone had ripped off the smoke detector and there were wires sticking out. They evidently put it in the wardrobe and for my five night stay it stayed that way. I was thrilled with the bathroom with nicely updated but the shower needed a good scrub. Truthfully the whole place made it a good scrub. I’m not a fan of the new toiletries that Marriotts is giving out. My room had a joining door to the next room and I could hear the person in there watching TV as if they were a deaf person.
The restaurant attached to the hotel was absolutely delicious and it was great for breakfast and dinner. All in all I would say I would come back to this hotel.
Overall stay was good. Rooms are very nice. I don't care for the vinyl bedroom floors, but that's just me. I prefer to get out of bed and step on to carpeting. Part of their otherwise room remodel put vinyl flooring in the rooms which looks nice and stylish but just isn't comfortable.
The restaurant is great. They did a nice job with breakfast. All of the employees we encountered were wonderful, except two separate encounters we had with a guy named Bernard Harris. He is a security guard (but employed by Marriott I think) that walks around with a gold badge on his coat and is rude, defensive, and completely unhelpful. He begins his reply to you on the defensive, no matter what your request. I hope he'll receive more training from the rest of the staff here if he is to continue working in customer service.
As for the room, I could hear everything coming from the room next to me. The wall (or maybe it was the adjoining room locked door) was so thin. Nothing was muffled. I could hear my neighbor’s television crystal clear, as well as their alarm every morning.
The restaurant hours were not long. After getting back to the hotel around 10 pm, everything was closed, even though there were signs throughout the hotel that it was “Open Late”.
Overall, it is a solid hotel, but disappointing from what I have come to expect from Marriott properties.
The best part about this place was the lobby, common areas, and the wonderful customer service I received from the employees. I did receive a nice email from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience after completing my survey. However, I am still out of my points that I used to stay here. An apology only acknowledges the issue doesn't really fix anything for the guest experience.
"Visually in the heart of the city experience with an excellent restaurant adjacent to the hotel. "Read full review
