From beginning to the end, this was an AWESOME experience! Husband and I took our two kids (2 and 7) with us to visit our nephew at Toccoa Falls College and we decided to stay in Athens because it's familar to us. Wendy at the front desk checked us in on Friday and checked us out of Sunday. She was delightful and happy to see us and REALLY enjoyed her job! That makes such a difference after you've traveled with kids. She even came out from behind the counter and gave each of them a gift - a book and a coloring book. What a surprise and a treat! The HOT breakfast was delicious each morning. The staff prepared our plates and gave full portions and were delightful to serve! What a great team of people! Clean rooms! This was the most important to me when considering places to lodge. After reading reviews - some great and some NOT, I was concerned but rest assured - if you stay here you will be delighted and will not want to leave. We would stay here again!…
This hotel is located just blocks from the campus and a very short drive to the nightspots and eateries that have made Athens a destination. Parking is difficult, and to that end the hotel has its own valet service. The hotel room is set up very nicely for those who are going to be here a while. There is a full fridge, dishwasher, micro, stovetop, and all the cooking utensils you need for the basics and beyond. There are plenty of usb hookups and power outlets, as well as good WiFi for the modern traveler. The amenities of the hotel include a hot breakfast that is COVID conscious, a rare indulgence to be sure. There is a full bar, which in healthier times features a pool table, shuffleboard, and a beautiful outside area complete with fire pit and bbq area, for those so inclined. There is also a gym and a business center, although we did not take advantage of those. As always, the staff makes the location - friendly, helpful, and informative - at every position. Definitely recommend! …
The room did not have a cleaning seal on the door While the room looked clean upon check in (tv remotes were in plastic bag ) upon further review there were dishes in the dishwasher , dirty f,look, no pillow cases and a dirty sock in the closet ..obviously not a very thorough review of room before we checked in...front desk offered to move room but it was late and I asked questions on when room was last cleaned and why there wasn’t a cleaning seal and no answer. I also had an issue with valet charge on my bill which they fixed after I complained Parking is really an issue on non football weekends ..no one was in the city over the holidays and your only option is to valet ..overall wasn’t happy with customer experience or service and will look to stay at other properties in Athens on next visit.…
The room and common areas were clean, but the staff was horrible. We had a 7 lb dog with us paid $75 extra for cleaning. They allowed a lady to get breakfast after 9, but when we asked they were out of food! The valet wasn't around when we were ready to leave. Not worried at all when an elderly lady spilled hot coffee on herself when the lid wasn't closed well. We tried to help her, but they were more worried about cleaning up. No Southern Hospitality here!
