This is a nice hotel and really has the vibe of staying in a family home. It’s located in a quiet area right by the water front. There’s a bit of construction opposite but it wasn’t too bothersome during my stay and hopefully it won’t ruin the sea views once completed! Reception is on the first floor and note there aren’t any lifts, so you need to navigate stairs throughout your stay. The staff were always really friendly and helpful and had no problem arranging things like taxis.
My room was on the second floor and really comfortable for a two night stay. Being a wooden building with thin windows means that you feel and hear the winds coming from the ocean but I still managed to have a good night’s sleep. The air-conditioning unit next to the bed was effective and there’s also a ceiling fan. An empty mini fridge was present along with kettle and large bottle of water provided each day. The bathroom was small but clean, with two bars of soap and a small bottle of shampoo provided, as well as plenty of good towels. The shower was over the bath and annoyingly I never managed to get the water to run hot, but that didn’t spoil what was otherwise a nice spacious room.
There’s lots of seating and tables at various spots on the different veranda levels - these are great for relaxing both day and night. There’s a large fridge in reception stocked with soft drinks and beers and although there’s no food other than a few snacks available there are a few restaurants close by.
Overall this is a lovely and authentic hotel, offering great value, which I’d recommend to anyone and would certainly stay at again myself.

I stayed in this lovely old wooden building twice, and it was ideal. Really comfortable big rooms, with great showers and really luxurious, and very welcome, beds after a long flight. Water is provided in the room, you can buy refrigerated drinks from reception, and a cold buffet breakfast is included in the room price. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the hotel is just in such a good location...right by the ocean, and the Belize sign (if you are a selfie taker), within easy walking distance of the centre, and just a short stroll to the port area, bars and restaurants. Its right by the Radisson...so dont let anyone tell you, if you are coming off a cruise ship that you need a taxi to either hotel. even with luggage...its a 6 minute walk. We managed it in ankle deep water and torrential rain...what larks! i really recommend this hotel.

Stayed a week with a group while working in Belize City. Clean room, comfortable bed. They served a nice light breakfast every morning, and were working on setting up a restaurant, which should be opening soon. Everyone in our group loved the new pool, which had just opened, and all of the staff were great! There is construction noise from work next door, that started around 7AM some mornings. We were always up eating breakfast by then, but I suppose you could ask for a room on the other side of the building if that's a problem. Anyway, I'd guess that before too long most of the work next door will be on the inside of the new building which should reduce the noise. If I return to Belize City, I would love to stay here again.

Let’s just say that this hotel has an amazing photographer! Our room was somewhere between acceptable and not quite deserving of the word dingy. It was a bit startling when we checked in and the reality of the room clashed with the impression from the web site photos. We had the “deluxe” room, maybe the other rooms are significantly nicer. It is comparable in price and quality to a nearby major hotel. I guess that for a hotel in a non-tourist area in Central America, this is kind of what you get. It is quite clean and everything works, so kudos to them for that. The mattress was firm and comfy. Service by the staff is quite nice. “Breakfast included” is actually a $9.50 BZD voucher to use at the hotel across the street where breakfast ranges from $8.50 to $50.00 BZD.

My wife and I stayed here at the beginning and again at the end of our Belize trip. The first night was fine, nothing special but in a large upstairs room with nice windows, light, and air. The last night was booked in what was billed as a “superior” room, larger and more expensive—it was the only room available. It was not superior. The room (#5) was interior, next to the front desk, almost no windows, harsh lighting, a small bed with no room for a bedside table on one side. There isn’t much to choose from in Belize City, but we looked at a comparably priced room in the Raddison across the street and would choose there the next time around.

We stayed one night. From outside the house is really nice. The rooms are having a certain flair. But my travel partner was allergic against something in our room. The location is pretty central. Unfortunately the village is "closed" on Sundays. The offered Breakfast was not worth any price to pay. The Restaurant was only available for breakfast. The official room rates are from my point of view far too overpriced.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. The Great House Inn offers the colonial ambience and each room has its own unique feature/flair. We are sorry to know you room travel partner had an allergic reaction to something. We do our best to accommodate guest with allergies or that are sensitive to certain cleaning products once notified prior to arrival. Unfortunately, the tourism village is only open on a cruise ship day. At the moment the OURS cafe only serves breakfast since your stay the breakfast menu has changed.

Staff are welcoming and polite. Love the view of the sea from the balcony and the cool breeze. The home like setting off the rooms especially with the wooden floor makes you feel at home away from home. Made it my first choice when I need a hotel to stay while in Belize.

A lovely place to stay for a couple of nights before our flight home. The team at reception were very welcoming, we’d heard about construction noise, but we were on the other side and had no problem. The pool and seating area were lovely and we enjoyed walking into town as well. Also Strongly recommend Spoonaz as a local cafe for food / a drink / boat and people watching from their deck

This was my last stay in Belize and I chose correctly! The location was perfect as it is an 8 min walk from the ferry. The best part of the hotel is the hidden gem - the restaurant tucked away as if it is hidden in a mini strip mall.
Value: I booked during COVID so my deal was perfect. I can see how their prices can be higher in season. The room was perfect I love the blend of old and new. Everything was comfortable.
Comfort: Quiet and clean. Modern bathroom and perfect water pressure. Great location and great for those early morning walks along the coast and watching the net-casting fishermen. COVID rules were strictly enforced and I felt comfortable. Fast internet speed. The best and worst part is the noisy birds dusk and dawn. Beautiful sounds but can be overwhelming.
Customer Service: The staff is amazing. They will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The ground keepers were so helpful and friendly. Nice having early morning chats with them. The Check-in process was easy and they are responsive via whatsapp.

We stayed here before and after our 2 week visit to Belize before our flights. This place is immaculate and the staff is so helpful and friendly. Our first stay we were on the 3rd floor with a partial view of the ocean. For us in our 70s the stairs were kinda of hard for us to get up and down so I talked to the very nice lady at the front desk and for our return stay she gladly moved us to the 2nd floor. The rooms are very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Also the shower was perfect and also very clean. Also, I unfortunately left my IPad in our room which the housekeeper took to the office and they emailed me before I even realized I didn’t have it. That is complete honesty which I appreciated. It was waiting for me when we returned. The only negative is that unfortunately they are under construction in the back as they are adding a pool, restaurant and new deck. We were under the impression that breakfast was included but with no restaurant available that didn’t happen. They work with the Radisson right across the street so that worked perfectly!
We will stay here on our return trips for sure and can’t wait to see the final results of the upgrade.
