Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa boasts a welcoming atmosphere, though some areas are noted as needing updates. While the Tidal Cove water park is a hit, overcrowding and maintenance problems can mar the experience. Guests frequently praise the property's overall cleanliness, but room-specific cleanliness has been inconsistent.
Service quality is a mixed bag, with reports of both attentive staff and frustrating service delays. Criticism arises from issues with room noise, unavailability, and maintenance, as well as unexpected fees that contribute to a sense of poor value for the price.

Detailed Reviews
So I absolutely love this this. It was my first time staying and I will certainly be back. We stay for the water park for the kids and they enjoyed themselves. With Covid-19 we didn’t get housekeeping however when we called them for things we needed such as new towels and sheets they were at out service. The pool staff was excellent! We had a small issue and they tackled it right away! The only issue I had was the garbage that was filling up in the ice machine room. It should be clean out hourly as many people were piling there trash in there. This was a very luxurious stay and if you can afford it.... GO! You won’t regret it!

As Titanium Elite members of Marriott’s loyalty program we stay over 100 nights per year at hotels. We frequently stay at the St.Regis Bal Harbour. We decided to stay here as the kids club was open and better located. The beach is not necessary in January as I’m not a fan of sand in my face or the windchill. The kids club at the JW was outstanding. My daughter loved every minute and has asked to go back (she is 4 and it’s sometimes hard for the transition of drop off but not one tear was shed- all smiles! Melonie and Cindy are the best!
As for service, Giuseppe and Augustina at Tidal cove provided excellent service. We missed the popsicles and they ran and found one for my daughter.
Jimmy in the lobby went above and beyond. I had a package delivered and the fed ex office was closed on site so he personally went digging to find my package.
Last but not least, Melody Miller in reservations was so kind and thoughtful. She made sure our room was equipped to stay with a toddler for an extended period. We even forgot our stroller and she was so gracious to lend me her personal stroller. The property is so clean and COVID restrictions have been followed to a T. I feel safe as they have a full body temp scan machine for everyone that steps foot on the property. We love this place so much that we even decided to extend for another week. It’s also so convenient- we walk to the playgrounds and all the restaurants at Aventura mall. They have great outdoor kid friendly options. Cheers!

I want to start off by saying that we are so happy we stayed here... we usually stay on the beach in Fort Lauderdale but this weekend we decided to go a little more south and we were not dissapointed. During COVID we had some concern about cleanliness but the team at JW Turnberry was nothing short from great when it came to sanitizing all around. Our rooms were incredibly clean, they were social distancing, requiring masks when needed, checking temperatures and more all the while still providing an amazing experience. Everyone was extremely attentive but we do want to give a special shout out and thanks to Fred the Pool Server, John A. and Odanie at the pool as well. They made our stay amazing and nailed it when it came to personalizing our experiences, always acknowledging us, and providing service in a very timely and friendly manner. Thanks to them as well as Lucio at the front desk, we will 100% be coming back and making sure this place is at the top of our list for staycations. Thank you all for this special and unforgettable experience!

Due to a cruise cut short by a day, we were put up at they golfing resort in a Junior Suite of all things. Wonderful room, balcony, view and amenities. A king bed that was very comfortable, a bathroom that almost matched our cruise cabin in size, and a good selection of TV channels. There are at least three buildings of rooms so it can be a little confusing at first. We caught on and were fine.
They have on site restaurants but I warn you - a little pricey! Lunch for two (sandwiches and house salads) came to $65.00 plus 18% MANDATORY tip. After that we went out and searched nearby for cheaper. There is a Starbucks on the property which we used for breakfast to counteract their cheapest continental breakfast at $18 plus coffee plus mandatory tip. Supper was at a Peruvian restaurant in the mall across the street.
So, a nice place but somewhat out of out Canadian reach. Thank good ness the cruise line was paying for the $650 room.

This resort has so much potential. The property is gorgeous and the buildings are nice. But, I must say, we had a less than stellar experience. We pulled up in our rental car and had valet included in our room rate. No one even attempted to assist with our luggage- I don’t think I’ve ever had that experience before, and definitely not a hotel as nice as this one.
Regarding the room, we had a junior suite booked at a very good rate, and even though the hotel was only at 33% capacity, we were put in the magnolia building. The magnolia is furthest from the water park, and although the rooms are beautiful, they are falling apart. Our balcony door was broken, and there was an issue with the bathroom door as well. It really needs a refresh. And I was puzzled as to why they would put us in the old building when the hotel was so empty? Maybe because of our cheap rate? Oh well. When we called fo switch rooms, they did allow us to do so right away, another room on the same floor. (I must say the high ceilings and huge windows on the 7th floor of the magnolia are very nice, but I still would have preferred a newer room.) I should also add that they allowed an early check in which I very much appreciated.
The water park was great, but all the slides are together so the lines get congested. They are really strict about food and check your bags when entering the park.
Any time we tried calling for assistance, to request housekeeping, late checkout (which they DID allow), etc., we held for a long time before we could get anyone on the phone. It makes me wonder how they handle things when the hotel is more full. Same thing with the valet parking, it took a very long time to get our car each time we needed it.
Didn’t go to the spa or any restaurants, but I wasn’t particularly impressed with the fitness center.
All in all, I would maybe go back, but wouldn’t hurry to do so. Their customer service is truly lacking, especially for hotel that is this nice and $$$.

We just returned from this hotel. The water park is really the only thing it has going for itself. Upon our arrival, it was a disaster with check in. The lobby was total chaos. They directed to our room which was not the room we booked. We are a family of five, when we opened the door to our room we only had one king bed. We called and they were not apologetic as one should be, they told us it was housekeeping error that the Jr suite we booked did not have the bed couch as we were expecting. Rather than finding us a proper room, they brought two very uncomfortable roll away cots for us. Not exactly vacation comforts. After several complaints we were given another room, but that was not easy. Also, keep in mind the resort has paying members who use the water park and the golf course. Which means those members seem to be given an unspoken priority. We had put our kids towels and items out on chairs we woke up early to get tidal cove. A member demanded our chairs when we were away from them. The pool people then gave our seats up and moved our items. The hotel has a poor way of handling member and guest relations. The weather was nice and that was the one thing that had nothing to do with hotel. Some of the towers are renovated and some are not.

Went to the pool to enjoy some lunch and sunbathing. The pool chair person, Victor, appeared immediately and set up a space for me and brought me a menu as requested. After 30 minutes of no server greeting or contact, I asked Victor to please have the server come and take my order (server Gene was on other side of pool). I watched as Victor walked over to Gene, pointed me out, and Gene nodding in agreement. Gene then proceeded to his point of sale terminal and put in orders, then disappeared off deck for a bit. While he was gone three couples arrived and set up on the far side of the pool nearer the POS terminal than I. When Gene finally appeared back on the pool deck, he proceeded to take the new arrivals' orders. I approached him to point out that I had been waiting 40 minutes for him and these folks had just arrived. He knitted his brows and feigned ignorance of my location, then continued to take the orders of the three couples.
I gathered my things and went into the Corsair restaurant and asked for a manager. Sean (or Shawn) was pleasant but ineffective in trying to address issue. The correct solution would have been for him to enter an order for me on the spot and have it delivered to the pool asap (hey I was not looking for any freebies, I just wanted to eat lunch) but he floundered and so I just left.

My girlfriend and I who haven’t seen each other in a while planned this trip with just the kids before school starts. I called ahead to ask for 2 adjoining rooms to make sure we can spend some time together when we put kids to bed since we thought would have a fun day with the kids visiting their water park. When we arrived they didn’t have adjoining rooms so I paid an upgrade for a bigger room still with only one bed which cost me almost $1,000 which is same as 2 rooms would have cost. 12:30 room wasn’t ready so we went to the water park where we spent 1 hour trying to catch employees to help us find some chairs or rent a cabana and none of those things were available. Now that we spent all this time walking around the heat with our pocketbooks since the room wasn’t ready when they finally called about the room we decided to check in and feed the kids and attempt the water park at a later time. We asked if we can just go to the hotel pool and the answer was NO it’s adults only. We tried to pick up our bags and for 20 minutes the guy was on the phone and didn’t even make eye contact. At this point I was about to get in my car and take everyone home until we saw Henry who saw 2 stressed sweaty exhausted moms took our bag tickets and said he will bring our bags to the room and and was there 2 minutes after we walked in. Not only did he save the day by helping us with the bags he suggested a few restaurants to order from since they didn’t even give us the room service menu or map at the front desk. Rooms service also refused to accommodate a simple request for French toast since “Breakfast is over” with a very rude tone.
Henry saved the day again 30 minutes later when he brought us the food since he found the lost uber eats delivery person not knowing where to go since it’s a nuthouse in the lobby and no available person to talk to.
Honestly I’ve never seen anything like this. This hotel looks more like a refugee camp with rude and useless staff except Henry. He belongs in a much better upscale Hotel and undoubtedly a much higher position.
Thank you Henry

The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry is a mediterranean-style resort & club which is located across the Aventura Mall, and is ideally situated 12 miles south of Fort Lauderdale International Airport and just 18 miles north of Miami International Airport.
The hotel has over 680 guest rooms and suites all with private balconies or terraces overlooking the resort’s tropical grounds, golf courses (two 18-hole championship golf courses) or pools.
Acres of a great waterparks featuring over ten waterslides, lazy river, cool cabanas, and huge kids areas make it a superb place to stay with the family.
Award winning Spa, restaurants and coffee shop (Starbucks) provide a great relaxing resort concept.
Valet parking is available but you can also park the car yourself, not much cheaper than valet but your call.
Check-in/check out was friendly and efficient.
Recognition of Marriott lifetime loyalty membership.
Friendly, welcoming and professional staff.
Room was clean, spacious, bright and welcoming. Housekeeping did a great job.
Great views from terrace over the property grounds and Miami skyline on the horizon.
Bathrooms are equally large with walk in shower incl. tropical shower heads and separate bath tub.
Towels are plentiful, fluffy and smelled fresh.
Water pressure was good for the room on 5th floor.
Extremely comfy beds made the stay really relaxing and enjoyable.
Wifi speed was good.
Overall a really relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Great product, well executed.
Will return with family.

We decided to take a short trip over Christmas December 2020 after my husband and I were both vaccinated.
We were so impressed by the facilities and the customer service that we returned back a month later with our children and our best friends and their kids. The customer service is outstanding the pool area is incredibly fun and the food at the pool is also fresh and delicious- thanks you Caesar for the service! We loved our rooms they were extremely spacious we had the suites which accommodated two queen beds and an additional pull out couch and also had a balcony.
This provided plenty of space for our family of four. The hotel is also centrally located. The kids club is an amazing addition. It’s managed by another company and Cindy at the kids club is magical. My children still talk about her. We felt that our time could not have been any better. We had her watch the kids from nine to noon every morning so that we could exercise and enjoy our morning and then retrieve them although they were reluctant to leave. Other noteworthy mentions are Jeff the manager who is attentive, invested and extremely personable. He provided us with incredible recommendations and gave us some perks which we did not anticipate. Additionally Jimmy the doorman is absolutely a delight. He is always smiling and he is sincere. He truly loves his job and will go the extra mile to make sure that you feel welcomed. We were so touched that he remembered all of our names and details that we would not of expected someone who sees thousands of people a day to recall. We will be back and we will be back often thank you Jeff and Jimmy, Cindy and Caesar for making our first trip during the Covid year so incredible! We truly felt special every moment of our stay

For Tidal Cove, yes. The front desk will give you a bracelet that will allow you entry the same day of check in.
Yes, very close, you have to walk through a car park though shame they didn’t think to make it a more attractive walkway.
Flow rider is free. The line at Thanksgiving time was about 5 to 7 people long. Make sure an adult signs the waiver for your child as soon as you arrive at the waterpark. Then your child can get in line by themselves
