Thanks.
We travelled from the UK and arrived around 9:30/10pm US time where we grabbed a drink in the onsite steakhouse.
Shop on site was great for grabbing some snacks and water, though a little pricey.
The room was absolutely fantastic. So spacious! 2 TVs and a sofa to lounge around on. Big, clean, comfortable bed. The shower had a strong water pressure too which was a treat!
We didn't use the pool, but looked lovely. Actually this was one of the only downsides to our stay. I wish the pool was outdoor! Would've been amazing to have a cool down outside but understand the location probably prevents it.
The free breakfast was awesome! Varied hash browns, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bagels etc. It saved us so much money not eating out each morning. Free breakfast and parking is so hard to come by these days.
Pros:
Polite, courteous, friendly staff.
Free breakfast and parking
Clean room which smelt lovely
Space to relax!
Lake view
Onsite shop
Cons:
No outdoor pool
Onsite shop a little pricey
Housekeeping was sporadic
Fridge didn't work
Overall our stay was fantastic and we wouldn't hesitate in booking again. We had family staying in the Disney resort area and our room and service was tonnes better for a more competitive price!
All the food was microwaved (pancakes, eggs and overcooked sausage).
Only issue was the pool at night. There was a group of ‘shady’ people swimming in their underwear. I watched them go in the bathroom take their clothes off, play in the pool and go back in the bathroom to put their clothes back on. Very sexualized behavior in a pool full of kids. I’m not sure if they were guests or not but the front desk staff should periodically check that area. Doors propped open and the exterior door was unlocked
Unfortunately, the experience was awful.
Service at this hotel needs a major upgrade. I arrived to an employee with zero customer service or people interaction skills: check-in consisted of him asking for my ID (instead of, say, “welcome”) while staring at his keyboard. He then stared at his computer screen for several minutes, saying nothing, until finally revealing “my computer won’t work” and telling me I had to check-in with someone else. Computer glitches happen…but how about you use your words to tell me what’s going on.
While his colleague was able to check me in, her approach was totally transactional, with the only words uttered being “you want water?” There was no review of the hotel’s services, breakfast hours, etc.
About an hour after arriving in my room, there were several loud and obnoxious knocks on the door. I opened it to a housekeeping supervisor asking me why I hadn’t checked out and if I was extending my stay. When I told her I’d just checked-in, she sort of started at me before saying “guess I have the wrong room.”
Then, several hours AFTER I checked out the next morning, I got a bizarre text message from the hotel asking how I was enjoying my stay.
As a business traveler, I’m also accustomed to Embassy Suites having a business center in which a guest can print a document. I couldn’t find one at this hotel, so I returned to the front desk to ask. There I met the same employee who attempted to check me in; I asked him, “Is there a business center?” He stared blankly ahead and had to ask his colleague. I am mystified as to why someone with seemingly zero training is working the front desk. His colleague’s not very helpful response to the business center question was “not anymore.”
Breakfast was a sad affair. I arrived at breakfast around 7am to find the serving dishes for two of the hot items totally empty. The coffee was, in a word, disgusting.
Yes, the room got renovated, and it looks better. But looking around the atrium, it was obvious that a lot of the renovation was shoddy (for example, new light switch plates that don’t fully cover the hole), and there was still a lot of visible dust and grime. Perhaps some of this stems from the fact that the hotel offers housekeeping services only every 5 days!
What a joke. This is not a “full service” hotel; it’s a hotel with staff barely trained to provide any service and management that seems to delight in operating on the cheap. Mind you, the room rate isn’t.
The only positive to the stay is that the hotel is located on Crane’s Roost park, where you can step outside and have a lovely walk around the lake.
My king-1 bedroom suite, was comfortable. I would like to return with more time to enjoy other amenities. I stayed overnight Saturday because I attended an evening wedding Saturday in Winter Springs, FL (10 miles away). The Sunday full breakfast with the option to get made-to-order eggs was convenient and economical.
At this level of hotel stay, I would think that to mention that the room was clean and the bed comfortable, a moot point, but I wish to mention these just the same.
Lastly, I like that my shower had doors rather than shower curtains!
