During a recent, five-day, self-guided hiking trip in RMNP with Footpaths of the World, we had the pleasure of staying at the Allenspark Lodge for two nights. This is an authentic lodge built in the 1930s which has maintained its original character. It is run by a wonderful woman, Juanita. Additionally, there are fabulous day hikes from the lodge in RMNP. Because of its authentic charm, wonderful hospitality as well as access to RMNP, we would highly recommend the Allenspark Lodge.

A magical gem near Estes Park, Juanita and Bill were very welcoming. A great way to end our 50 mile hike in honor of my twin sister's ( who passed) and my 50th birthday. Juanita let my husband and I feed her horses and I even bought a shopkeeper bell when we got home to remind me of this place. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. even the creaky floors added to the ambience. We will be back next time we are in the area. You can't go wrong here, it's special.

Our family booked the Lodge for a family wedding. The Lodge was the perfect home base for families of the bridal party. Terrific hosts who provided great conversation and wonderful food - including addressing varied dietary needs.

Cute RUSTIC place with a great setting. Be ready for creaking floors and rustic bathrooms, even if you have your own private bath. RULES are important. In by midnight, no group gatherings in your room or in common areas after 10 and no access to the beautiful outdoor porch after dusk. You also MUST be in your seat at 9:00 am sharp for breakfast. Think “staying at Grandmama’s “. Enjoy.

Response from Bill Martin, Owner at Allenspark Lodge B & B

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. What can I say? We are not a chain hotel. Most of the fixtures have been kept and maintained by all of the previous owners and are origional. We offer to make arrangements for you to get in if you expect to be out after midnight (I don't want to stay up much after that and get up to make breakfast in the morning). Sound passes right through the walls and can bother other guests, which is why we don't take kids under 14 years old. And several rooms have windows that open onto the upstairs porch, so to let them sleep, we close the porch at dusk. We let all of our guests join us for breakfast at 8:am weekdays and 9:am weekends. Or not, their call. We are not for everyone. Oh, and grandson, we think you may have left your jacket on the living room couch. Give us a call if it's yours. Grandpa Bill

My teenage daughter stayed here after a week of camping. We loved it. Bill and Juanita treated us so kindly. We loved the beautiful historic log lodge. We enjoyed one of the best home cooked breakfasts we have ever eaten. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Even during the COVID virus we felt very safe. We look forward to staying here again.

This wonderful gem of a lodge is the perfect place to getaway! It is beautifully rustic but I noticed how very clean the entire place was. The hosts/ owners were lovely to chat with. Our room was comfy and oh so charming. The gourmet breakfast was simply out of this world. So yummy! This was my first stay here but definitely won’t be my last. Highly recommend

We usually try to stay at large name brand hotels, but so glad we ventured out of our normal comfort zone. The rooms were very clean, the host and hostess went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied, and the breakfast was wonderful. We highly suggest this place - you won’t be disappointed.

Charmingly rustic😁 and well maintained. Breakfast was different each Morning …and good! Less than 25 minutes to entrance to Rocky Mountain NP. Host and hostess available and knowledgeable. We were extremely happy our two nights there. No tv, but Wi-Fi, no a/c open the window😂 3 generations all happy!

Super nice breakfast. We felt welcome and enjoyed the hospitality of the B&B owners. All clean and very nice. We would love to come back one day. Situated very nice and in an ok driving distance from Estes Park, Boulder and Nederland. The nature is just fantastic and so is the dark sky at night.

I spent one night at Allenspark Lodge in July 2005. The hosts are remarkably friendly and knowledgable about Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding areas - they suggested a perfect day hike for me. The lodge itself is clean, quaint and quiet, with nice porches, charming rooms and very comfortable beds. Looks and feels like an old historic lodge should. Nothing fancy - but very homey and welcoming with a nice fireplace in the lobby and a rec room with board games and books. Breakfast was excellent and HUGE; I didn't need to eat again until late afternoon. There's a small hot tub indoors on the main floor - it's a nice place to relax after a day of hiking and driving through the mountains. My room was on the 3rd floor. (I was traveling alone, so I booked the smallest room they had.) It had a sink but it didn't have a private bath or a telephone. However, the lodge's shared bath was clean and conveniently located, and there's an old-fashioned phone booth in the lobby. The village of Allenspark is tiny - no souvenir shops, miniature golf courses or fast food restaurants. Just a couple of sit-down restaurants, a livery and one or two other small inns in the surrounding area. You could drive from one end of town to the next in a minute. Teenagers might find it boring - but really, the drive to the tourist strip in Estes Park is only 15-20 minutes, so it's no big deal. Allenspark is located about 10 minutes from the trailheads for Longs Peak, Chasm Lake and Estes Cone, which are three of the best hikes in the national park. Only downside to this inn is it sits close to the two-lane highway bypass that goes thru Allenspark, and the main porch looks out over it. Not much traffic when I was there - but it would have been nice to have a more secluded, scenic view. Still, I plan on returning next year (2007) for an extended stay with my wife and son. You see great views in this part of Colorado all day long. Having a comfy, immaculate, friendly, moderately priced lodge to "come home to" at the end of the day more than makes up for only having a so-so view at the lodge itself.
