We had to travel to Atascadero because of a death in the family, and fortunately the hotels in the area were just opening up after the quarantine. The house that our family had rented was only a couple of miles from this hotel which made it very convenient. The hotel itself was in the middle of renovations but there was no noise or mess anywhere to be seen. Our room had been remodeled and was very clean and nicely updated. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was spacious. We were told up front that they weren't able to do housekeeping in the rooms yet, but that was ok. They made sure there were people available to give us fresh towels and toilet paper when we needed them. The front desk people were very friendly and professional and everyone had masks on. The breakfast buffet was not available due to COVID19, but they had breakfast in a sack for anyone who wanted one. Inside was strawberry yogurt, a bagel and packet of cream cheese and a hard boiled egg. We felt very safe as far as staying there during the pandemic.

Took a last minute vacation to the coast with my family and did not plan accommodations beforehand. After trying with a cringey hotel and deciding that wouldn't work, I called the Holiday Inn and was greeted by a wonderful receptionist that booked me in at a great rate. I arrived to be checked in by Nikki ( wonderful!!) and walked into a newly remodeled room. Laundry services were available (24hrs), breakfast is currently Togo because of COVID, no problem, and the kids were able to swim for a bit. Maybe a 25 minute drive to the beach and all around a great place. I work in a hotel and let me tell you, I'm probably a terrible traveler for it. After check-in, I check my rooms to make sure that they're been cleaned adequately--let me tell you, my room was clean! After my earlier snafu at the less than desirable motel, I was elated to see the cleanliness at the Holiday Inn. Kudos to your HK staff and outstanding FD staff for ticking all of the boxes. Will return when I'm in the area again.

We loved the room--comfy pillow top beds, good sized room w/mini fridge, very clean & restful. Would definitely stay again for these reasons.
The only thing available for breakfast that was not filled with sugar or gluten was cold hard boiled eggs. TERRIBLY disappointing after having very much enjoyed hot breakfast in the past at Holiday Inn Express in Colorado. Feeling this disappointment, and traveling with a 5 year old, I was happy to hear a mother of 3 ask an employee who came through a door into the breakfast area, in a tone of voice that was as exasperated as I was feeling, "Will you be serving ANY hot breakfast?" The employee's response was, "We are not serving hot breakfast at this time."
That would have been great information to have before we checked in and were told breakfast was included.
If this was COVID related, it doesn't make sense that bagels were laid out on a tray, open to everyone.
This is enough to make me think twice about future Holiday Inn Express stays. Better to reduce the price of the room and be clear that no breakfast is available on site than to risk losing credibility.

Hotel was clean, extremely accommodating and our team was very happy! We also brought our dogs and they loved your hotel! Your location offers great well lit areas for walking dogs on darker weather! My 2 pugs were very happy with the amount of grass or plants available outside & there were plenty of garbage cans for waste bags. Breakfast was ready and hot. Trays were provided for me carry items up to the 3rd floor. This was our 2nd stay at this location and we will be back!

Not A Covid Safe Environment. I was there in my stay and saw many things that were not up to the covid standards for keeping guests safe and assuring they are keeping extra measures in place like their other locations. I called both corporate and the management at this location and both confirmed that they did not have the staff to keep up with housekeeping. This to me is a big red flag, especially since the area has been increasing with the rise in virus infections again even with those that are vaccinated as the delta hits Los Angeles and Southern California. When the General Manager Corine was questioned about the lacking practices, as such for example the taped door handles to proof the rooms, she said they didn't need them they used cards they leave in the room. There were several other red flags regarding the environment and the covid treatment and considering that hotels are made for travelers from all over, this should for sure be top priority. I am taking action. They should have just refunded me but now they have made it so that I will get the word out as much as possible since they would not accommodate

We stayed here three nights and it was a terrible quality motel 6 like experience. The front staff is very friendly, but the kitchen staff is severely overwhelmed and overworked with zero help. I felt sooo bad wa ching breakfast service with one employee sweating and trying to cater to the guests endless demands. The food quality in breakfast is not only cheap quality, but very odd such as sugar free, fat free, weird looking apples, and extremely over ripped bananas. Housekeeping has been eliminated as trash gets piles on and on. They ran out of towels??? WTF, How is that possible?? I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and motels all over, I have never ever been told that they ran out of towels. For the amount of $$$ they charge, the stay was extremely disappointing. Message to the GM, Area GM, CFO, CEO. Please take CARE of your overworked and unappreciated kitchen breakfast, and others that are in the front lines. Please make CLEANLINESS paramount with actions instead of a few words and nice graphics on your site. Take care of your people and your people will take care of you.

Took Mom for Mother's day . We stayed in a handy cap room , nice clean room but for someone in wheelchair no way to shower had a bathtub and low toilets difficult for transfer, she had hard time at sink because to low . But service was great ! Nicole Manager in housekeeping was so sweet and caring with a smile all the time a great help to us . Staff was all very nice . They do offer breakfast in a bag , bagel , yogurt , juice if they have and a boiled egg if they have so mainly carbs and sugar but a provision we brought fruit . You have to ask for the egg . All and All it was a nice stay . No toaster for bagel .

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atascadero (San Luis Obispo, California) It’s very far from San Luis Obispo downtown and Amtrak train/bus station. Unless you drive or take Uber frequently, you can’t go to many places from the property. Starbucks, lovely Jack in the Box, a lake and park are nearby (within walking distance).
The property is clean and the staff is efficient and polite. They have a very nice gift / snack shop/counter. Laundry is not a problem and the daily breakfast is fantastic. The heated pool is excellent.

Don't waste time or money there are better options. Extreme heat year round, not near the coast like the map shows, it is a long drive and zero cell service through a vacant land. They are right next to a loud freeway. The staff is uncooperative, and rude after they have your money. They price gauge to charge more than double the usual rate to make up for both their recent remodel and the loss from pandemic. The pool is very small and if anyone joins you feel crowded. The local places for tourist are run down and not the same as they were 30 years ago when they were fun. Cheap shops with novelty items from China. (Solvang, Morro Bay), the Madonna in looks like a broken down haunted house and like your sure to catch a STD, the Hearst is not good old and dated, lost its luster. So that puts staying in this hotel even more on the bottom of list of choices. Better off going a 45 min drive to Carpenteria (in Santa Barbara area). Better beaches as well. This hotel here is just a roadie hotel in a dive area out in the boondocks.
