When visiting our nation's capital, it would be hard to beat the price or the location. We only had to cross the street to get to the metro, and cheaper parking was available across the street. They also offer valet parking, though it costs quite a bit.

The room was for the most part clean (the bathroom could have used a sweep).
The AC was loud, but after one sleepless night when the fan kept turning on and off, I figured out how to set the thermostat (not on the machine) to continuous and not auto.

Wi-Fi did not work on my older laptop, but did on my newer devices.

Breakfast was AMAZING, and the staff was very cordial and helpful.

We look forward to staying there again, which is the best compliment I can give, with so many hotels in the area.

On a side note, the White House is within walking distance, but so blocked off by security that you have to walk for blocks just to see it, and from what I was told it is hard to visit. So that might not be your determining factor for choosing this hotel.

I don't often stay in Hilton properties, being mostly a Marriott guy, but this was booked for me due to it's proximity (a block) to a short training session I attended. Excellent staff, good bed, and decent wifi. (even the free version). Several people have asked about the breakfast. They do have an extensive breakfast buffet, but it is free only if you are a premium Hilton Honors member. Otherwise, it seems like there are a variety of plans where it might be included in your room rate, and/or some corporate clients are given flat-fee discount vouchers. The rooms are fine, and mine was exceptionally quiet, although it could have been that I just didn't have any noisy folks around me. I didn't see any tourists staying there--it seems much more focused on corporate guests. The bar is small but lively, and the restaurant, though it doesn't have an extensive menu, was excellent! The front desk offered me a late checkout or to hold my bags so that I wouldn't have to take my luggage with me to the office, which was very kind. There is a great Harris Tweeter grocery less than a block away, a CVS about the same, several coffee shops and fast food places, and a string of food trucks during lunch one block away that has an outstanding selection.
All in all, it's a good choice for a competitive rate.

I've stayed here before and always find staff highly helpful and professional. Rooms are very clean, quiet and conveniently set up with plenty of power outlets, fridge, microwave, coffee. Everything works well! Housekeeping is A+ and I appreciate that Hilton doesn't waste resources by washing EVERY used towel every day!
Location is great. This Garden Inn is across the street from Metro that goes directly to National Airport and to the Kennedy Center. It's near K Street, the White House, and plenty of restaurants. Museums are either walking distance or easily reached by Metro or bus. Sometimes traveling to DC on my own, I feel comfortable in this downtown neighborhood, as a woman, returning from an opera after 11:00 p.m. Hope to stay here on next DC trip.

This location was perfect for us. I actually considered canceling the reservation when I realized the restaurant was being renovated, but really liked the location so we kept to the original plan.
The staff seemed greatly inconvenienced at check-in. I only spoke to the desk a few times and they were not pleasant. The day before our checkout, I did overhear the check-in staff explaining dining in the area and the metro to a guest. I wish that staff member would have checked us in! She seemed so nice and helpful.
I was pleased that the hotel offered a free breakfast since their restaurant was being redone. Unfortunately, I have never seen such chaos at a complimentary breakfast. Staff and a few guests were horrible. I do think that more staff was needed, but the one person I spoke with was very rude. After a couple of days of this free breakfast, we decided it would be better to just go somewhere else and pay. There were a few great spots not far from us. On our last day, short on time, we stopped into the breakfast area before the airport and it was fine. There was a manager overseeing everything. Hopefully the renovated restaurant will solve the breakfast issue.
Housekeeping came into our room at 8am! No knock, just came into the room talking to someone in the hall. I felt like 8am was early for housekeeping when guests are on a vacation. The housekeepers were in the halls every morning around the same time talking loud enough to wake us when we weren't already awake.

We spent three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is within walking distance to many DC attractions and there is also easy public transportation all around the area. The Metro station that goes to/from DCA is right across the street. Our room was very comfortable and we had a very quiet stay despite looking out onto 14th St. Staff was very nice and their COVID-19 cleaning protocols made us feel very safe. The restaurant is closed and activities are limited, but we found the hotel to be a great base camp for all that we wanted to do and see on our visit.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, July 30 - August 3, 2022 based on the positive reviews and the hotel's central location. When we checked-in, Allen, the reception staff, was very cordial, pleasant and welcoming. In fact, all the hotel personnel we had encountered during the 6 days we were there, were just fabulous. Such wonderful customer service!! Hotel's location is excellent, walking distance to most of DC's attractions or you can also use the Metro as the McPherson Metro station is just across the hotel. We used the Metro a lot, even coming and going to DCA Airport on the Metro blue line. Our room was located on the 10th floor facing the back of the building which is more quiet compared to being in a room facing the street. Room was very clean and spacious. Housekeeping service is by request only which is not a big thing for us since we don't have little kids with us to mess up the room. We tried the breakfast buffet one morning in the hotel and it was great but a little pricey though. Since we don't really eat a lot for breakfast, we had been having light breakfast across the street (the Gallery Café) which we highly recommended since a lot of the locals seems to patronize the place and the café have various sandwiches that we enjoyed.
We had a great time staying at this hotel mostly because of the great and wonderful hotel staff who provided such fantastic service to their guests. Will definitely be back in this hotel when in DC.

This hotel is located directly across the street from a Metro Stop, near several reasonably priced restaurants, and in what appeared to be a safe neighborhood.
The primary problem was that during our four night stay our room was cleaned only once, and then only after I insisted. Previously my request were ignored.
Would I stay here again? Yes, location trumps lack of service.

This place was amazing. After having to furlough 50% of their staff due to rioting Antifa and BLM mobs for several months, they were short staffed. Hundreds of Trump supporters ascended on just this hotel for the night of Nov 13. Even though they had been dealing with the crowds all day and evening, we came in late...about 10:00pm. The staff was courteous, helpful, and full of energy to manage the crowd. The foyer was full, cars parked all along the street, but everyone stayed calm and they were able to get everyone to their rooms, keep the little cantina stocked with food & necessities, etc. The valet guys were trying to keep up with parking. We came in late expecting a parking spot in the lot below the hotel. They told us it was full, but the valets helped everyone find alternate places to park. In the end, they were able to take our car and a few others and squeeze them into their overflow lot. So thankful as we saw several cars get towed the next morning. The next day, when we were all heading to the rally. The front desk staff kept everyone's bags, tagged them and stowed them for hotel guests. We are talking hundreds of guests, a couple bags each! They even gave us a late check out in case I needed to come back to the room. The chef was awesome! Due to covid restrictions, they were doing breakfast orders. We had cooked to order omelets, pancakes, bacon, in only 10 min...couldn't believe when my husband went down to order, just came back to the room and we received a call that it was ready...so he went right back down to get it. I cannot say enough about this hotel. The room was clean, our every need was met. When we came back to the hotel, the valet retrieved our car within a couple minutes. Great job everyone! It definitely felt like the customers were the top priority!

Just checked out from a weekend stay at the Hilton Garden In Washington DC Downtown. I am a Hilton honors member and frequent hotels (Hilton included) for business travel. After this weekends stay, I would not recommend anyone stay at a Hilton. Not only did housekeeping barge into our room this morning (way before check out) without knocking...I just received my “receipt” via email and was wrongly charged for multiple things. They charged us over $55 for parking (we never even pulled our vehicle up to the front of the Hotel), we parked about three blocks away. They charged us random one off parking taxes (again never used), and random bottles water fees (never used or had any bottles of water). When I called the hotel after noticing my card charged for all these incorrect fees, the front desk said she can’t help me because “billing left and nobody can help you until tomorrow”. Completely unacceptable and shady behavior. Why charge us random fees unless Hilton is trying to take advantage of their guests? Be sure to check your statements if you plan on staying at a Hilton hotel.

The Hotel never followed up,and only after complaining on Facebook I received an automated email message that the "extra" fees have been removed.

Great room, staff and location. Couldn’t have been better. The bed and pillows were better than my own. The shower had good pressure and, at 6’4” I appreciate a shower head that doesn’t spray my navel. The staff was very helpful, personable and professional. Only a few blocks from the WH and the mall beyond.
