From the moment we arrived the staff at Hive made us feel welcome and appreciated. David was helpful, funny, and very friendly in a way that felt honest and authentic. He asked why we were in town and offered lots of specific recommendations based on our needs. Throughout the week (we were there for 8 nights) we had many more positive interactions with David, Bryna (Brenna? sp?), and at least two others who we'd love to call out by name but have forgotten (sorry! You were all amazing). They seemed genuinely interested in us and our apartment search, and it felt like we had friends to talk to every day. It's hard to overstate how wonderful the staff was, and we would return or recommend this place in a heartbeat if only for that reason.

The rooms are exactly as described, comfortable, and clean. I love places that have soft sheets! I appreciate the touches to reduce our impact, like having small rooms, refillable soap and shampoo, and linen changes on request. Plus, their rooftop bar is great (frozen cocktails, yum).

The location is very convenient as well - close to Foggy Bottom on the blue line of the Metro, Whole Foods nearby, and some nice restaurants both fast and slow (Sweetgreen for fast salads, Roti for fast Mediterranean, Circa for slow but good cocktails and happy hour). The National Mall is a short walk south, if that's something you haven't seen.

If you combine the price, the location, the hotel itself, and the exceptional staff, you've got a 10/10 winner. Thanks for making our trip memorable and full of kindness.

The thing that you must know first is that rooms at Hotel Hive are small, really small. The double room my friend and I stayed in had bunk beds small. If you are good with that, Hotel Hive is a really nice place to stay and an incredible bargain. The rooms are immaculately clean, my request for no feather pillows on the reservation was acknowledged when I checked in. The staff I interacted with (Julia and Ben at the front desk, Serita who kept our room cleaned) were all very helpful. The bartenders/baristas were friendly and helpful. The bartender who got me my hot green tea every evening called my by name when I walked in.

The hotel is close to the Foggy Bottom Metro station and a number of nice places to eat. Ben at the front desk really listened when I told him what kind of place I was looking for for dinner my first evening and made a perfect recommendation.

Our double room cost about $100 a night, which is unheard of for a decent place in DC.

My friend and I were likely the oldest people in the hotel, but we never had trouble with noise. (The hotel does have rooms that can have noise from the bar, but they tell you about it up-front on their reservation service.)

Hotel Hive is not for everyone, but if you are looking for something economical with a good location, and you are willing to deal with really small rooms, this is a great place to stay, especially when you are traveling on your own dime.

Dear Ralph H, Thanks for sharing about your recent experience at Hotel Hive! I'm glad that our central location, helpful team, and clean rooms were all highlights during your visit. While we are admittedly micro with smaller rooms than traditional properties, we recommend booking our King rooms to guarantee a bit more space for those looking to spread out a little more. We'd love to welcome you back next time you are visiting the area! Thanks, Bryna

Clean, modern, efficient rooms with a roof top bar/restaurant and an attached pizza shop in a nice part of town. I slept well in a room which maintained a comfortable temp., had cool and crisp white linens and refillable shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. the staff was friendly, especially, John.

My son and I had arrived at the hotel early April having just come off the Great Allegheny Passage + C&O bicycle trails. Staff made us feel welcome from the get-go, safely stashed away our bikes, and ignored our wet & muddy condition :) We got a double twin (not bunks) small downstairs room which was very clean, neat, simplistic but functional, and more than adequate for our needs. Had pizza and beer at the lounge before settling in. Hotel is in a great location in DC, first time there, seemed quite safe to walk around day & night, close to all the sites we wanted to tour on foot, and tons of good places to eat walking distance. Special shout-out to the friendly staff and Kiera for sure ... thanks for the memorable stay. We hope to come back one day, and also recommend to all.

I arrived early for my stay with an unexpected and awful migraine. The wonderful staff member at the front desk worked hard to find a room that I could check into, and got me in there as soon as he could. It's not just that they helped me check in early, but how much care they showed in making sure I was taken care of and felt better. The staff really went above and beyond here for me, and I observed them doing the same for other guests as well.

The hotel itself is beautiful. It's super trendy and every little detail is beautiful- from the carpet to a mural in the elevator to the artwork in each room. The building is a classic and grand older building that really gives your stay a charm. The rooms are small (it is a micro-hotel) but are beautifully furnished, comfortable, and plenty roomy!

The restaurant is great; it's pizza at night and breakfast pizzas during the AM and they accommodate gluten and dairy allergies well!

Highly recommend staying at the Hive if you visit DC!

I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest option within walking distance to Constitution Hall, where I had made last minute plans to attend a convention for one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the fun vibe and safe neigborhood. The staff was uniformly friendly, pleasant, and helpful. Flatbread pizza downstairs was a tasty and convenient choice for dinner. I took advantage of their parking deal at the garage; the garage is located catty corner from the hotel and you have to cross several wide streets to get to it as it is at a point where three streets intersect (22nd, F and Virginia), I recommend not trying to carry your luggage over this distance. I enjoyed drinks at the bar downstairs with some fellow convention attendees. Conveniently, there is a CVS a block and a half away on Virginia. I would call the room cozy, not small, and I liked its minimalistic feel and (almost) all white decor. My room had a comfortable double bed, TV, clock radio, small white formica nightstand and desk that were attached to the wall, a chair for the desk, a pullout storage thing under the bed, a safe under the desk, a trash can, and a clothing rack with four metal hangers attached to the wall and that was it. Shampoo, soap etc. were provided in environmentally friendly pump bottles mounted on the bathroom and shower wall. I will definitely plan to return with some friends for next year's convention.

The overall design of this "micro-hotel" provides great, small, clean hip rooms at a fair price in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington DC. Located inside the streets of the GWU campus, this casual place has a staff that is always attentive and welcoming. One particular member of their Guest Relationship team, Kiera, is a primary reason I will choose The Hotel Hive over comparably priced competitors in the area. Her professional approach to service combined with her upbeat spirit make this place feel like a welcoming "home away from home" every time.

From the minute I walked into Hotel Hive I got the feeling this was not going to be an ordinary hotel stay. The staff far exceeded my expectations, especially Chloe - who gave me great food recommendations and treated me like an old friend I’d known forever. The room was perfectly sized for my solo business trip, and I even got a tiny fridge upon request. Every person that worked at the hotel was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The room was sparkly clean, and even though the front desk warned me that my room location (near the bar) would be loud, I barely heard a whisper of noise from my window! I’m so excited to stay here again in the future and highly recommend this hotel! PS - the pizza place in the hotel is amazinggggg!

I stayed for two nights at hotel Hive in Washington, DC, and believe me, it was great!, the staff at the lobby were super cool, specially Julia Sambolt who was very kind and a great host. Pizzas are delicious and the IPA Tap beer was tasty and hoppy. I recommend the lofts room located in the fifth floor, you will not have any noise and you will be able to rest. Five stars to The Hive!!!
