I was gifted 2 nights stay here as part of a larger radio prize, it was clean and tidy. The bed was really comfy and there were electric blankets and a great heater. it was a really nice place to stay
We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage - 6 adults, a baby, and dogs. Its was a little cramped with us all, because the weather was very wet and that kept us all inside. Even so we had a wonderful weekend and really appreciated this dog friendly motel. There were a couple of minor things like faulty light bulbs, that could be improved, but there were also plenty of blankets, heaters etc to keep us cosy. The location is central to Ostend Village, with takeaways, supermarket and some very nice local shops. I happily recommend this motel.
Planning a long weekend on another island can be daunting especially if you have not been for over 25 years. Lots has changed. The team at Waiheke Motel shared ideas, booked lots of extras including car rental, zip lining and high tea at the Batch. Such a great service and a great location right by the supermarket and local eateries. They even turned on the electric bed before we arrived. Thanks for an epic weekend and for taking such good care of us. Will recommend to others and hope to be back again soon.
Great stay, awesome location central to amenities. The staff were amazing, really helpful and super friendly. Das loved the spa pool, which we didn't realize when booking - bonus! Have recommended to others and well certainly book here on our next trip. Thanks so much!
I booked a cottage for my friends and myself to stay when we came to Waiheke for an event. The manager/hostess was very helpful. The cottage was spacious and clean. There were a couple of minor things that could have been improved on but we were actually very pleased with this accommodation and I would definitely stay here again.
Waiheke Island Motel, highly motivated staff displayed professionalism.Reached all our expectations. I would highly recommend this motel. Would definitely return to this motel. Situated conveniently for us in relation to movement around the Island
Had a very comfy 3 nights, older style motel which needs some tidying but very clean and a great location, no traffic noise. Handy to supermarket, cafes, beaches . Main shopping area aprox 10 mins away.
We stayed 2 nights in Unit 3, it had a musty smell and we were appalled by the filthy carpet & grubby cushions covering the equally grubby dining chairs. Definitely nothing like the pics that sold us enough to book our stay. Not sure why booking.com rates this place well and we relied on their rating too. We have never stayed in such grubby accomodation in NZ before and are disappointed this happened on Waiheke. Unfortunately we arrived after 5pm when reception is not maned & decided to spend the least time possible there. The Owners excuse was that they had been slammed & we had been upgraded. He also offered a discount on our next stay. Definitely won’t be back here again lesson learned is read reviews & pay the extra for quality accomodation.
Our group stayed in Unit 13, which is an entire house. In fact the original house on this lot. We went down the road to the local supermarket and there was an aerial photograph of the area showing the original house. This place is sooo clean and well looked after! This place is on an island, there is no sewage system. The septic tank, next to our house overflowed (it happens!) the owners immediately offered us another space but they were so quick and efficient at getting the problem sorted we didn't have to move! The Waiheke Island Motel is so central to everything. In hindsight, why would someone come for such a short stay?! This is a week long destination at the very least!
We were a group of 8 women staying 2 nights on the Island. As people have mentioned the motel is old but clean and a couple of the units have great views. A few of our ladies are not very mobile and the first unit they offered was not suitable as there was a steep flight of stairs up to the bathroom/kitchen/lounge area. The downstairs room was a bit odd with a double bed at the back of the room with a low partition and then 2 single beds at the front of the room. This was Unit 2. Unit 3 had a the 2nd bedroom that was very small with 2 single beds and a tiny skylight in the roof that did not open. We asked for a fan for that room and that was provided. This unit was all on one level with water views. So we asked for a change for Unit 2 and were offered Unit 13 which is the Family Cottage as although it had a steep flight of steeps down to it, could be accessed from the road below. We loved this unit as it was very large and had a lovely verandah in front of it. It has that old house smell to it bit it was perfect for the 8 of us to socialize. We appreciated the owner offering this unit to us. They also allowed us to stay in one of the units a bit longer before it was time to catch the bus. So if you have mobility problems ring and check exactly what your unit has to make sure it is suitable. They tried to give us units next to each other and a lady did ring before our arrival to check we had the right number of beds etc but photos of the sleeping arrangements might have helped. Just a note..if using the buses on the Island you can only buy the day pass at the Ferry Terminal..not on the bus itself.…
