My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Te Whau Lodge this past weekend. We had a splendid time and would like to thank hosts Rob, Marg & Grant for offering such excellent hospitality. My partner and I have been lucky enough to visit many luxury hotels around the world, and we can say Te Whau Lodge is up there with the best of them. The property itself is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and offers all the facilities you would expect from a luxury guesthouse stay. The views from the property are some of the best we experienced during our trip to Waiheke Island. The room was very comfortable and we were particularly impressed with the eco-conscious approach the lodge has taken. High quality eco-friendly products are scattered around the bathroom, and there’s no nasty plastic bottles in sight, which was very refreshing. The healthy, yet hearty breakfast was delightful and perfectly cooked. The added extras throughout the stay were the icing on the cake. If you are looking for a luxury stay with local knowledge & fantastic service, look no further than Te Whau Lodge. We’ll certainly be returning on our next trip to Waiheke Island!

This luxury lodge hideaway is located on the beautiful Waiheke Island and without exaggeration has some of the most picturesque views of any location we have stayed around the world. Our great hosts, luxurious accommodation, gourmet breakfasts and international guest lists makes Te Whau Lodge a must stay location if visiting Waiheke Island. There are many interesting places to visit on the island including world class wineries, fine dining restaurants and sensational walking tracks with breathtaking views to work up an appetite.

This is an unusual five star review, because I only stayed at Te Whau on this visit for about five hours. It was an unusually hot day for Waiheke (early February, 27c/80f + degrees), which is also unusually hot for Auckland, and there was no air conditioning in my guest room. The windows were open but the delightful breeze wasn’t enough to cool the room down. Unfortunately I need a very cool room to sleep, so I had to leave the island and find an air conditioned room on the mainland. That being said, I have been told by the owner, Grant, that they will be installing air conditioning in the next few months as Waiheke has been experiencing warmer temperatures of late. If it weren’t for the lack of air conditioning, and the extraordinarily hot day on Waiheke, my stay at Te Whau would have been perfect. It has everything going for it – hence the five star review. First of all, the view is spectacular, overlooking the harbor and the bay, with Auckland’s iconic skyline in the distance. Then there are the hosts at Te Whau, Marg and Rob, who are a delightful couple that go above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your stay. They serve local wines and canapes in the afternoon and then create a super-deluxe breakfast each morning. My first visit to Te Whau was in 2001 when the lodge was run by Gene and Liz, who were the consummate hosts. Marg and Rob have continued that tradition. Finally, there are only four guest rooms at the lodge, so it feels more like you’re staying at someone’s home than at a commercial B&B. To sum up, there is a peaceful, relaxed, welcoming ambiance at Te Whau, whether you’re sitting on your private porch or enjoying the central lounge and deck area. Despite my short stay this time around, I will be back to Te Whau the next time I ‘m in New Zealand – especially in their more typical, cooler weather. Te Whau is a very special place, managed by special people, and fully deserves a five star review.

My mum and I had a wonderful girls weekend at Te Whau Lodge. We booked the two night "relax and recharge" package which included a delicious three-course dinner, four-course breakfasts, transport to and from the ferry and bubbles on arrival. The Lodge organised massages for us and went the extra mile by driving us around the island to a walking spot. It's a great spot for both a summer and winter getaway as you can can sit out on the deck and enjoy the magnificent views on a warm day but then also snuggle up inside with a book and glass of port by the Lodge's fireplace in winter (as we did). Chris and Teara were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. We can't recommend the Lodge enough!

The room, service, views, location, and overall experience at Te Whau Lodge combined to make our trip the best we've ever had. What a place, the four-course breakfast every morning is brilliant, and the service from the friendly hosts (who are very interesting to chat to, and are clearly born to be in the industry - wonderful people) made our honeymoon unforgettable. This is absolutely a place we're going to come back to with fond memories, and is one of the best places to visit on Waiheke.

We encountered the incredible view as we were driving up to Te Whau Lodge and we’re delighted when we found the entire place to be perfectly placed for you to drink it in, wherever you are at the lodge.

And that’s just for starters, the rooms are sizeable, comfortable and contemporary with an unbelievably comfortable bed. The complimentary mini bar, including port each night was a great touch too.

The carefully curated, ever-changing breakfast menu, served either at the large dining table or outside on the sun deck, was just one of the lovely experiences that Marg and Rob put a lot of effort into.

That and evening drinks and canapés to welcome you in makes Te Whau a wonderful place to stay.

The whole vibe of the lodge is relaxed luxury and they’ve nailed it at every turn. With only 4 rooms available, it’s a real treat to be able to experience what they have created - something of a hidden gem on an island that is too good to miss.

There were no surprises upon our arrival: the views from the room, the dining area, the communal patio are beautiful. The hosts are wonderful. The 4 (or was it 5?) course breakfast was superb: healthy and appropriate portions. The wine and appetizers on the deck in the evening was delightful as we learned more about New Zealand from the owners/managers and met other guests from around the U.S., Canada, and guests from Auckland. I would highly highly recommend this B&B if you want a relaxing environment with high-end accommodations.

Te Whau Lodge is absolutely a one of a kind experience that I will never forget! My husband & I were so lucky to stay at the gorgeous boutique lodge for 3 incredible nights. From the moment we drove in we got goosebumps at the location...it is absolutely amazing overlooking the ocean and mountains. Upon entering the accommodation it smells & looks beautiful! Everything is in perfect order and we know we are in for a real treat! The rooms overlook the incredible & peaceful view as does the main common sitting/deck areas. We were blessed with glorious weather so it made our stay so magical. Each morning we were spoilt with delicious home made breakfasts and in the evening it was canapes with local wines. Our hosts (Marg & Rob) were so lovely and very hard working yet nothing was to much trouble when it came to helping with any requests or advice about the surrounding areas. I highly recommend Te Whau Lodge if you want a relaxing, peaceful, gorgeous one of a kind experience...I am so grateful to have experienced it! Thankyou!

We were lucky enough to go to Te Whau lodge, where we were greeted with amazing hosts. Chris picked us up from the ferry terminal, and Teera cooked us the most exquisite 4 course dinner and breakfasts.

The rooms were equipped with everything we needed, and the view from our deck was breathtaking. I like the little binoculars in the room too!
We were very happy to have visited.

Well, what can one say when one is already on a high from their wedding?
I can tell you, Chris and Tara kept the momentum going and gave us an unbelievable stay to remember and added to our already blessed wedding journey.
Everything was made so easy, from the friendly greeting at the Wharf, right through to the 4 course dinner, massages, extatic views and that was only the 1st night there.

You wake up on a ridge over looking Kennedys point and the the expanse of bays that are second to none.

My wife and I had the Honeymoon package which had included a winery tour, a must if you are on the island. Just one of the many experiences the lodge has for their visitors and it was just amazing, I'll review that separately.

The lodge is nestled high on the ridge and offers spectacular views. It's peaceful and was exactly what my new wife and I needed to just listen to each other and breathe after all the hustle and bustle of the wedding festivities.

The rooms were fantastic, rustic and very welcoming. The beds were comfy and you were able to seclude yourself away from any of the other visitors there. You have your own deck where you could curl up and read, have a coffee or wine and enjoy some relaxation.

All in all, the hosts made you feel like you were the most important people in the world, absolutely friendly funny banter, informative and extremely helpful with anything that you wanted.

The in-house classically trained Chef was such a delight to have. The experience that my new wife and I had is such a fantastic memory that we will share as our 1st big memory as a married couple. As food lovers we have tried many culinary cuisines and this did not disappoint. From freshly seared scallops, duck and lamb to follow, it was just an absolute treat.

You felt like you were at home, being waited on and pampered, right down to the friendly dog, Gary, being there to pat and be greated in the morning by.

If you're looking for a place to stay that offers an easy, no fuss stress free holiday whilst being in a beautiful setting with wonderful vistas and friendly people around then choose Te Whau Lodge. We will definitely return 100 percent.

A massive thank you to Chris and Tara.

Rick

Hi, we can arrange for a private yoga class if you would like that on site, as we have done that for guests previously. And yes there are yoga classes run regularly on Waiheke. (I do Astanga Practise myself). Trust this answers your question. Thanks, Grant.

Thank you for considering Te Whau Lodge for your stay while on Waiheke Island. If and when you land in Auckland you can get a taxi or bus into Auckland City ferry terminal and you can buy your return ferry tickets at the kiosk which is located by the queue where you wait to board the Fullers Ferry to Waiheke Island When you board the Fullers Ferry in Auckland you would need to txt us on +64 27 558 4474 and let us know the time the ferry departs as the lodge is a 20 minute drive, we will do our best to pick you up however it is not always possible and we will arrange for someone else to pick you up. We will let you know when you txt us. Our charge is $40 per pick up and there are taxi services available. There is also a bus service on the Island as well. We recommend hiring a vehicle so that you have the freedom to explore our lovely Island as there is a lot to see. I hope that this is of assistance to you. Kind Regards Marg.
