The location is nothing short of spectacular La bodega is quietly situated on its own peninsula overlooking the sea. Modern well designed building is difficult to fault as was the welcome from hosts Veronica and Brett our room moscatel was spacious and comfortable with a private patio. The only thing missing was perhaps an armchair/sofa although with the view from the bed (and bath!) this was hardly a problem. Breakfast is served at 9.00 for all and is of the highest quality with something for everyone There are walks and the vineyard to stroll round accompanied by cute little Chica the dog. We could have happily spent our three days at La Bodega without moving. Transport is needed to fully explore the island although our hosts were most accommodating with lifts and local taxis inexpensive Highly recommended

....unless you’re my wife, who found the mattress too hard!

Other than that, perfect! We stayed in separate guesthouse/suite and couldn’t have been happy. The accommodation really is beautiful, both in its locations and views and in its design and decor. Our days were spent running/walking in the morning before a long lunch and then home for the late afternoon/evening, so we spent quite a bit of time in the place and were more than happy to do so.

Kitchen is well equipped and we made several meals in it and the TV is Netflix ready (watch Vikings!). Wifi was pretty good, although we’d get a bit of Netflix interruption if we used the wifi on our phones at the same time.

And the view from the large balcony! Stunning. Could see all the way to Coromandel. We weren’t blessed with the best weather, otherwise would have spent a lot of time out there.

Finally, the hosts, Brett and Veronica, were brilliant and ever helpful. Picked us up from the ferry, took us to the shop to do some groceries, provided honey from their beehive, took us to the car hire, and were always available, friendly, and welcoming.

It’s a little remote (a good thing!) so you probably will need a car.

All in all a really exceptional place to spend your time on Waiheke.

We spent 3 nights here in December 2019 while in town for a wedding. La Bodega makes you feel like you're visiting your best friend's beautiful Waiheke home. Every day, breakfast was served at 9am and it was some of the best breakfast we had in NZ. The service was fantastic through and through. Would highly recommend. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Every room is a great room. The guest house is a separate building (though very close).

This is our second time staying in the Guest House at La Bodega on Waiheke Island (the first time was before Covid) and we would love to go back again. The Guest House is spacious, modern and has a wonderful deck/porch off the bedroom with a spectacular view of the Huaraki Gulf. The house has a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances, and a wonderful bathroom with a window that can open onto the kitchen. Yes the kitchen! There is also an additional, separate half bath, something I always appreciate in a rental. The house is aesthetically decorated, including an abstract rug in the living room with a design that might be based on Japanese Enzo circles. There are good paintings and ceramics throughout.

The house is close to coastal hiking trails and we loved getting up in the morning and exploring. We did some hikes this time we hadn't done before. The landscaping is lovely, and includes vineyards. La Bodega is close to the town of Oneroa with interesting stores and restaurants, and lovely Palm and Little Palm beaches. Of course, nothing in Waiheke is very far away if you have a car.

The owners, Bret and Veronica, are very kind, interesting and solicitous, without being intrusive. In fact I would have liked to see more of them! Both stays at La Bodega on wonderful Waiheke were high points of our trips to New Zealand.

La Bodega is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed, anywhere in the world. The accommodation, the views and the attention to detail made this just a wonderful place to relax.
We stayed for 3 nights and wished we could of had longer.
Our accommodation was in the Guest home which is a large apartment separate to the main house. The bedroom was large with a private balcony overlooking one of the many beautiful bays on Waiheke Island. The ensuite was good size with the same water views. A complete kitchen stocked with fresh food - fruit, bread, eggs, cheese, ham, and local marmalade plus plenty of coffee pods for our stay.
The large comfortable lounge room with private terrace topped off a stunning place to relax for a few days.
La Bodega is only about a 5 minute drive to the main town of Oneroa which has lots of cafes and good restaurants and small supermarket.
Thanks to Veronica and Brett for having such a beautiful place for us to stay.
If you come to Waiheke then you must stay here.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and spent our last two nights in New Zealand at La Bodega. It was nothing less than magical. Brett and Veronica took amazing care of us and hosted one of the best breakfasts we had experienced the whole trip. We stayed in the guesthouse and it was totally worth it. The views were spectacular, the bed was comfortable, the décor was modern and stylish and on both days we woke up early enough to enjoy the sunrise. This place is a true gem on Waiheke Island and we can't wait to return!

We spent 2 wonderful relaxing nights at La Bodega and wish we could have stayed longer! We were 3 couples from Canada who had travelled through Australia and New Zealand and stayed at La Bodega near the end of our 3 week holiday. La Bodega is beautiful, well maintained and in a stunning location. The hosts Veronica and Brett are lovely, extremely helpful with a lot of information, welcoming and accommodating. They also served a delicious breakfast. If we are back in New Zealand, we will definitely go back to La Bodega.

My husband and I have just returned from an amazing stay with Veronica and Brett at the beautiful La Bodega. Luxurious but relaxed vibe set in stunning Waiheke countryside. The property is immaculate and our hosts were amazing. We really enjoyed our every part of our stay including the proximity to some of the islands best vineyards. Could not recommend more highly.

We visited at the end of November 2018 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We wanted a tranquil, relaxing environment with a beautiful view and excellent facilities, which is exactly what we got! We stayed in the 'guest house' which was fully equipped with everything we needed for a magical weekend away from the world. It was a fantastic start to our tour of New Zealand. I wish we lived closer so we could return! One of the highlights of our world tour. Cannot recommend highly enough.
