Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed with 2 friends in the Pirate Ship on a girls weekend away.  It is rustic but also fun and perfect for our needs.  Loved the outdoor kitchen and table under the covered verandah.  I was able to take a quick peek inside the other cabins and can confirm that they are much less rustic - a great option for comfortable and affordable accommodation on the island.  Lovely setting, and not too far from Palm Beach. Charlie could not have been a more hospitable host. We also took advantage of ‘touring’ the rum distillery on site, and having a wee sample.  Would definitely come back.

I've stayed several times. By myself, with my partner, with my kids plus extra kids! Just love it so much. Wine on the deck is awesome. Watching the sunrise from the deck is beautiful! Everything is clean and well-organised. Charlie and Russell are wonderful hosts.

Off the beaten track, this Waiheke Island accommodation offers a unique location, great bird life...we saw fantails, tuis, wood pigeons, rosellas and more!
The owner was so accommodating, resolving any issues immediately.
Did you realise this location has a private distillery and the rum we tasted here was sweet & smooth!

We had such a great time staying in one of the cabins, comfortable bed, the best pressure I have ever felt in a shower!!!

Waking up to the views was amazing!

Everything is easy to get to be it wineries, zip lines the ferries everything!!

Our host was amazing providing everything we needed with no issues.

My only problem that I have with the place is........I DIDN’T STAY LONG ENOUGH!!!

Highly recommend!!!!!!

Ps excuse the mess in the photos haha

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the cabins - it was spotless, comfortable bed, great shower. So peaceful with a lovely outlook over the valley, surrounded by native bush. The location was perfect - close to Palm, Onetangi and Oneroa beaches. A great base for vineyards, wine-tasting and shopping as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Where else can you stay in a pirate ship? We spent a few very cozy days staying in Russell's home-made ship and were very comfortable. The bed is soft and the view from the deck is amazing. The place is a little ways from any shops/restaurants but its an attractive 20 minute walk to the nearest town. However there is a kitchen and BBQ if you want to do your own cooking.

The owner, Russell is a one-legged rum brewing man who have generated and old bus into a pirate ship. This place are by far the most original place, me and my family have stayed in New Zealand. The place is nice and roughly in its own originally. The porch outside the pirate ship is big and functional. Equipped with both a barbecue and a wood fired oven. The kitchen have all you need, and inside the ship there are room for 3 1/2 person sleeping.
