The parking to this place is tight, involving a steep hill and a hairpin bend, as others have commented, but we managed it fine and there’s plenty of room on the road for the faint-hearted.

The welcome was warm and our room (number 8) was clean, smart, spacious and comfortable. It’s equipped with a 2 ring hob, microwave, electric fry pan, kettle, toaster so we cooked and ate on our balcony whilst admiring the view.

The wifi is not good. There’s a great signal on the balcony where you can see an access point on the building opposite, but unless you’re stood in the window the signal varies from weak (and keeps dropping) to non existent. There’s no chance of using your iPad in bed or in the kitchenette.

Laundry facilities are available at $2 for a wash and $4 for a tumble dry (or line dry free of charge)

Myself and family loved our week long stay at the harbour view motel. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment and suited us perfectly, the kitchen was very handy as we were traveling with kids.
Beds were comfy and room was clean.
Thanks again

The views here certainly are excellent. The room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. Easily within walking distance to everything. The only down size was the driveway. If you have a large vehicle i would suggest parking on the street rather than trying to negotiate the windy steep narrow drive if you are in the upper motel rooms. For elderly folk or anyone with mobility issues best to check which room you are going to be in first. Lovely quiet situation and friendly hosts.

A beautiful view but big disappointments. We arrived at night and the room was not at all welcoming. It was so cold inside the room, no heating turned on (and it took 3 hours for the radiator style heater to even start to warm up), no light on and it smelt musty.
Dated decor, an electric blanket that didn’t work and pubic hairs on the bathroom floor. When we politely inquired about an extra heater we were told that there are no spares available, that there is extra blankets above the wardrobe (there was one single size blanket for a double bed) and that actually it’s not cold at all. When we arrived it was 8 degrees, to us that’s quite cold.
My advice would be to request that the hosts have your room ready with heating turned on prior to your arrival.

We had a ground floor room at the front . It was spacious, light and it had a sunny outdoor deck with views over the harbor. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed. The welcome was warm and friendly
We were able to do our laundry
We were catching an early morning ferry and the terminal is very close to the motel which made our departure easy
Thanks for having us.

Loved the great views and spacious comfortable and clean studio unit of this motel. It is an easy walk from the ferry, train station and the township but if we had taken our car we would have parked on the street due to the steep narrow driveway with its tight bends. Also, people with mobility issues would struggle to walk up the driveway. The glass milk bottle and little scissors for opening tea and hot chocolate packets were nice touches and the shower dome and heated towel rail in the bathroom were also appreciated. As is usual in most motels the lighting isn't the best for reading and the heater was barely adequate so we were not particularly warm. It was a cold night however, just 2 deg C at 8pm and below zero in the morning. We were sad to leave and would be more than happy to stay here again in the future.

We’d never stayed over in Picton before, so this time we decided to stay one night before continuing our trip south.

Although we stayed only one night, we wanted to have a room with a balcony and a view over the harbor. Although not at the water’s edge, our room at the Harbor View Motel provided those, helped in part by the steep slope of the land which facilitated views over the rooftops of buildings in front.

The lady at reception was very helpful with information about places to eat, etc.

The motel was not new, but everything was clean and in perfect working order.

The room was a comfortable size and had a separate bathroom.

There was on-site parking for each unit. Due to the steep slope of the land, the driveway and parking were a bit tight.

After sunset, we sat on the deck outside our room and enjoyed the beautiful views over the harbor.

Close to the center of Picton, Ferry terminal and shops the location is great ! We had a well equipped kitchen and family room for 2 adults and 2 kids and found the room spacious with plenty of natural light. The view of the harbor and watching ferry's enter and leave was enjoyable and the kids who also enjoyed saying hello to" Buddy" the little Maltese shitzu . If you are in Picton for a day or a couple of days, it pleasant stay.

We had a nice room, with a fantastic view, and it was very clean. There was a very comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We recommend booking a room at the top level for the greatest views of the Picton harbour. The motel is just a few minutes walk from the town centre. All good.

I enjoyed my stay here once I actually got into my room. Those very steep driveways, yikes! They felt nearly vertical. When you're walking with 30kg of luggage as a solo traveller up those driveways, what a nightmare.

The view from my room was amazing and I loved watching the comings and goings on the harbour. I loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers watching the sun set. Although it was spoilt a bit by my next door neighbours cigarette smoke drifting my way.

I didn't realise how far the walk was from the train station and the harbour to this motel, otherwise I probably would have stayed elsewhere, but that being said, my stay was comfortable and the price when I booked was reasonable. I did find I got overcharged when I arrived which I questioned, and then my rate was changed to the booking.com rate I had locked in months ago. Beautiful breezes, they provided me with a fan for the room as I was concerned I"d get hot, (there is no aircon) but I didn't end up needing it. While the decor is older style and I barely fitted into my shower, I did enjoy my stay. My bed was really comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room.

Be mindful if you don't have a hire car and you're walking from the interislander ferry or from the train. It's a pretty big walk if you have a lot of luggage like I did, and then very large steep hills once you get to the motel. My knees were absolutely shot by the time I got to my room. Without luggage the walk to restaurants isn't too bad, but with luggage, it's not much fun, if you aren't overly mobile, probably not the place to stay for you. I also had fun going up those hills once I'd had a very tipsy day on the bus to the Marlborough wine region, so be careful when walking back up those driveways :)
