We were greeted with warmth and friendliness upon arrival after tramping from Punga Cove some 23 km. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The food and service in the evening was excellent. At breakfast we experience the same high quality of food and service. Upon leaving the following morning for the next part of our tramp, the staff could not have been friendlier. We felt like we were very special during the entire stay.

We stayed here for one night while walking the Queen Charlotte Track (a double room and also a 5 bed 2 bedroom suite). Sadly the quality of some things was not what we expected… The rooms were pretty tired and old (the 5 bed suite was pretty cold at night with very limited heating options). We had mixed feelings from dining in the restaurant but a couple of people were really disappointed: * entrees were generally good. They did a delicious seafood chowder and the calamari was good too, but the scallops were a bit disappointing. * mains were not great: ribs were OK, vegetarian lasagne very average, chicken caesar salad was really not good (the chicken was so tough/dry it was pretty much inedible – multiple people tried and ended up spitting it out), and the pan-fried market fish was also shocking – it was so dry and overcooked that again multiple tried it and were shocked by its bad cooking and needless to say that didn’t get finished. There were some positives though: - the location / setting is just wonderful (a 700m walk down a relatively steep road from the Queen Charlotte Track). We had really nice views out onto the trees and water. - the staff were all very professional and helpful - the buffet breakfast was really excellent (both the continental and the cooked) So some good stuff and some disappointing stuff – generally not of the standard we expected it to be.

Awesome weekend getaway in paradise. A true slice of heaven. Picked up a stunning Tui Room for 2 days through Grab-one, and did not disappoint. Spacious, clean and sunny room with an awesome balcony view of the sound. Comfy bed with plenty of amenities. Excellent location, complimented by excellent staff and customer service. Special mention to some of the Rockstar's that made our trip truly memorable. Harry down at the Snapper Bar spoiled us with delicious food and drinks, as well displaying impeccable knowledge and recommendations on local spots to visit around the hotel (would highly recommend Punga Cove). Jamie was a workhorse in the restaurant at breakfast, keeping the large selection of buffet breakfast fresh and topped up. He also makes a banging cinnamon latte. Lily and Caitlin seemed to never stop working! Providing true 5 star service at both Front office and the Restaurant during dinner service. Check-In was swift and smooth. Help with the kayaks and SUP's was highly appreciated and they both made the trip completely problem free. Hats off to the team and credit to all where its due. Couldn't have asked for a better team to take care of my partner and I. Please keep it up, as you all compliment an already stunning hotel.

We had a wonderful couple of days at Portage soaking up the views, going for walks, and relaxing. There is a pool as well as the sea, and lots to do, from paddle boarding and kayaking, to fishing, indoor & outdoor games, & exploring the sounds by boat. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we also enjoyed chatting to other guests. Our room had sumptuous views, a sunny deck to sit on, a super King bed and ensuite & was very comfortable. It struck the balance between being luxurious, and family friendly. Eating a lovely meal while watching the sunset was special. We will definitely be back!

We purchased a Grab One voucher for 2 nights and ended up in a Tui Room. Comfy bed, nice hot shower and a balcony looking back over the main building and jetty, nice view, the rooms at the other end would have better water views) We ate at the restaurant with mixed experiences, there is nowhere else close, The mussels were delicious and with a side of chips was plenty for the 2 of us. The fish of the day was snapper and it was not good at all, we were offered free desert and the lemon cheesecake was great. Drinks were pretty reasonable which was pleasing. Nice place for a couple of days to unwind.
