We stayed at Picton Beachcomber in Early September. The location is excellent with about a 3-5 minute walk to the Water Taxis and restaurants in Picton.
Even though we arrived at about 9 PM and the reception was close, they left our keys in an envelope with directions to our room. The room itself was just the right size, with a small kitchenette (Stove top, Microwave, Kettle, Coffee, hot chocolate and milk).T he bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom on the whole were spotless.
Would definitely be staying here again, as it's good value for money.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would recommend to all.
Lovely room with very comfy bed, large in room spa and beautiful views across the harbour and sounds.
This hotel is in a handy location walking distance to the town centre, and I really appreciated the extremely accommodating staff to myself and my two little girls.

Whilst not the most stylish motel from the outside, we had not, up to that point, stayed anywhere that paid so much attention to detail as the Beachcomber. This place should be a hotel not a motel, it has more facilities than its competitor next door who does call themselves a hotel.

We were greeted by a friendly, informative lady who also helped us out with an issue with the safe, done in the most friendly, no fuss and speedy manner.

The bathroom was very well stocked, clean and even had separate make up remover flannels! Very thoughtful for all other residents.

There was a unit stocked with cutlery, crockery, tea towel, biscuits and even a mini bar. These seem to be missing now after Covid.

Only comment would be that the sign outside promoted rooms modernised in 2013, which in 2022 is probably irrelevant and does more to hinder than help.

We would definitely visit again. Loved it!

After having issues with another property we had booked, we booked the Beachcomber on short notice. The location is very convenient after coming in off the ferry and for walking around the corner for restaurants. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the property was closed when we were there due to illness. Room was clean and served our purpose.

Stayed here for just one night. As it was Sunday the restaurant was closed so we had to venture out in the wind and rain to find some food. Room itself was comfortable and quite large. Hotel is situated on the waterfront beside the yacht club and has some lovely views. It’s only a short walk into to main part of Picton. Be aware if you arrive by train, Picton doesn’t have a taxi service. You will need to source a shuttle if you aren’t within walking distance of the station or ferry terminal. Also the ferry terminal is undergoing a major refurbishment and they have a new temporary terminal and you catch a bus to the ship thru the worksite.

I loved my stay at the cute Picton Beachcomber Inn where every room has an outdoor patio with a harbor view. This is a great place to relax, enjoy the view with some snacks and drinks and check out the bunnies that crossed their lawn. The room was huge and had a fridge, kettle, walled toiletries, desk and chair and several lounge chairs. The only thing that I would remove from the room was a square table in between the beds what didn’t serve any purpose other than decoration. There is a small pool on the property that I didn't use during my stay.

The hotel restaurant is on the 3rd floor which offered a great view of the harbor and town. This hotel offered one of the best dinners that was included in our tour. They had the most tender roast beef, a very flavorful fish dish and 4 types of veggies. Their coco puffs & chocolate square cake were delicious.

Very disappointing stay. First impressions were not good. The owner of the hotel could not even acknowledge me. A nice 'hello' and 'Welcome, enjoy your stay' would have been nice! I was completely blanked!

At breakfast the next morning, there was absolute chaos. They obviously could not cope with the volume of guests. Used plates and cutlery piled up on the breakfast tables. No clearing away! The receptionist appeared and spent time just pushing salt and pepper pots around the tables. I watched her racing around doing nothing! I overheard a couple ask for the tables to be cleared so they could sit down. The reply was 'I'm the receptionist'. 'I don't care who you are, I would like the table cleared' was the gentleman's reply. What sort of attitude is that. We were told that this hotel is family owned and the company we were travelling with had high regards for them. We were not the only ones to be disappointed here. They really should drop this hotel from the agenda!

We are sorry that this is the experience you perceived you had at our Hotel. It is not how we normally operate but due to COVID 19 circumstances at the time, we had only one staff member available that day to do cooking, waitressing and bags for the whole Hotel - 2 Tour Groups. Staff that usually work in these positions had underlying medical conditions that meant they could not come into work safely. As you can appreciate it has been an unprecedented situation, not just for us to be dealing with but for the whole world, I think some consideration needs to be given to management at these times as they were under incredible stress. It is to the Receptionist's credit that at least they attempted to assist in an area that is not their normal expected work duties. Stay safe, be kind.

On arrival we are told the kitchen is closed and there will be no breakfast or dinner. This is not indicated on their website. The room cost $330 per night which was $60 dearer than booked on the computer. The room had no airconditioning and a fan that was too noisey to have running whilst sleeping. Cleaning of the room was good and everything in the room was in good condition. This Hotel appeared to be well over priced.

Hi we do advertise our restaurant is not currently open on site, renovations are being done at the present time. The staff have been relocated to another premise in approximately 200m from the hotel to accommodate. Guests are advised of this again at check in. Our room rates have never been $330 per night - did you maybe stay 2 nights or did you maybe book 2 rooms????? We have not had any complaints about noisy fans in rooms - all work perfectly well.

Agree 100% with11Washington review after our recent stay, exactly the same. Add to that the pool was filthy, unswimmable with dirty bottom and cloudy water. Management blamed on leaves and wind but next door hotel's was sparkling clean and being used!

As was explained at the time we had 3 days of wind- strong gusts, plus rain and hail the previous day therefore there was leaves in the pool. We have plantings and trees around our pool area, next door hotel does not. Our pool gets commercially cleaned, but wind and rain is out of our control as explained. We are unsure why you have copied the other review of 11Washington as you never got charged that rate or mentioned any issues to reception about the fan or heat. All windows are double glazed.

n all reality, does anyone come to Picton other than to get on/off the ferry? However, this is a lovely little town, with plenty of eateries. Our room faced the harbour and was quiet and comfortable. Beds/Pillows are always subjective, but we found the mattress supportive. Very modern bathroom sinks and colossally deep - handy for bathing a baby/small toddler! We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, but there was a varied menu.
