Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best way to see this motel is in the rear view mirror! Old, worn out, soft mattress. Mentioned to the staff member with us when we got to our room and were told we could upgrade to a room with better mattress for more money - what?? This motel needs some serious maintenance and cleaning. One bracket for a towel bar. No place to hang clothes. Mold on ceilings and caulking in bathroom. Grocery prces are very dear in Picton.IMO, actually, best you drive straight through Picton and stsy in Blenheim 26 kms down the road.

The motel is impeccably clean and very comfortable. Stayed for 2 nights in a one bedroom unit. Spacious and tidy with heaps of bedding and nice pillows. Quiet location within short walk to the main street. Close to ferry terminal.

Great place to stay. Courtesy Van pickup from the Ferry and drop off the next day to our E-Ko Tour Cruise was very much appreciated. Offered another room as the one we had booked was close to the road. Room was warm and clean and bed very comfortable.

Perfect motel for coming off a late arriving ferry. Our unit was modern, clean and had a comfy bed - just what we needed to rest up before heading on our roadtrip around the South Island. Easy checkin and departure at 10am meant a wee lie in too. Highly recommended.

Stayed here two years ago and stayed here again for three nights while I did some cycling around Picton in 2020. Very clean, very well maintained, very pleasant and helpful staff. I could not have asked for anything more. Saw a review by Ki Wombat-18 and her experience was nothing like my stays here. My room was immaculate and the dishes and kitchen goods were clean and in good condition. The only complaint that I had, and I mentioned it to the owner, is that the internet was a bit spotty. I note that the WiFi signal was strong, but the internet kept dropping me. That is a condition of Picton being a bit out of the way, but there is talk of getting fiber optic in, and that will make all the difference. Have stayed here before, will stay here again.

This motel is run by the most helpful people- I was picked up from the ferry and my suitcase was dropped off at the railway station the next afternoon, so I didn’t have to worry about what to do with it while exploring Picton! The room was immaculately clean and a pleasure to stay in- the motel is an easy 10 minute stroll to the high street- in a quiet surrounding. Thanks Andrew you’re a treasure!!

Unfortunately I didn't research this place before booking. It is very handy to the Ferry terminals, but terribly overpriced for the standard of accommodation I experienced. I had a room with six beds, but only needed one. The second bedroom had mould on ceiling, but I was able to shut the door and not use it. Main area had paint flaking off ceiling, poor heating for a cold night. There was a TV and coffee making facilities, and the room was reasonably spacious even though in dire need of maintenance. Access to the second bedroom was through the bathroom - not ideal. Will continue to Blenheim next time - an expensive mistake !

We stayed here two nights when we came onto the South Island (we love Picton) and one night when we left the South Island. Very clean, good amenities in the kitchen. Margaret was very helpful on our first visit, gave us insights in the local area and pointed out some quilt shops for my wife. Helped us get our laundry done and then let us use the clothes horse to dry them. Have stayed here before on a previous visit, would stay here again.

Havinb had an unpleasant stop the previous night we were looking for a good place . The weather was not good so we kne we would be in the room for most of the day and evening. We were welcomed by Andew who ensured we had all we needed. Great service, spotlessly clean and lovely room. On reflection we should have pushed on the day before and had 2 nights here.
