We loved our stay at Ian’s and Janet’s. They are very friendly and welcoming hosts. Ian picked us up at the Ferry Terminal and gave us a quick tour of town before showing us into the Green Room, our getaway for the night. The spotlessly clean room has a comfy bed, beautiful bathroom with upscale toiletries and plush towels, a kitchenette area with fridge, microwave and dishware. We bought food at the nearby grocery store and heated it up & ate in our room. Before dinner, we enjoyed a drink in the beautiful garden. Very relaxing.

Breakfast the next morning was varied and delicious. We went sightseeing around Picton and Ian very kindly met us at the bus station area with our luggage later on.
Our only regret is that we didn’t plan to stay more than one night.

We had to cut our travels short and return back to Canada due to COVID-19. If we ever get back to NZ we will definitely stay here again and plan more time to see the area.

The Anchor Down bed and breakfast was a warm and friendly place to stay with happy, fun people running the place. It's Janet and Ian's home. Janet picked my husband and me up from the Interislander ferry in the evening and gave us a little tour of the town. We slept well in comfy beds. Each morning either Janet or Ian would make a delicious breakfast, one morning we had freshly made corn fritters with yogurt and peaches from their tree. The next morning was pancakes with lemon curd. The Anchor Down is right in the heart of town within walking distance of the harbor, restaurants, bakery, grocery store, town shops, and hiking trails. We were surprised to share breakfast and conversation with a famous cinematographer one morning and the next a road biker touring the South Island. The Anchor Down rooms were fastidiously clean and well-appointed. We highly recommend this B & B!

We enjoyed our short stay at the Anchor Down B&B of Janet and Ian very much. After a beautiful ferry trip from Wellington and a 500 meter drive to the house, we immediately received a feeling home by the warm welcome of Janet. The suggestion for dinner at Oxley we took and didn’t regret. Perfectly cooked fresh fish. We also enjoyed the walk through Picton harbour, which is at short distance of the B&B. Later that night a relaxing stay in the Green room with a green tea. After a perfect night of sleep, the shared breakfast table with the other four guests was delightful, so was the freshly prepared food. In short: a perfect stay. Also thanks for the underway suggestions for our drive to Abel Tasman park. Thumps up for Janet and Ian’s B&B.

Stayed 2 nights at Anchor Down this week, third stay there in past 12 months. Everything is perfect - rooms, linen and bathrooms always spotless. Rooms good size, great wardrobe space, fridge and microwave in kitchenette. Breakfasts are different every day and always delicious. Nothing is ever a bother for Janet and Ian, they are helpful, kind and very accommodating even picking up guests from train or ferry. They have a wonderful area for guests to chill that includes a big BBQ for guest use. Their enthusiasm for wonderful Picton just rubs off, you can't help but want to return.

We stayed two nights at Anchor Down before and after walking the Queen Charlotte's trail. Ian and Janet are exceptional hosts - Ian collected us from the train and dropped us off at the ferry on departure and did everything to make us welcome and comfortable in their clean and modern home. Meal suggestions for the trail were spot-on. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Anchor Down B&B for 1 night, directly after coming down to Picton from Wellington and what an enjoyable experience it has been! Janet and Ian were at the ready with tips about Picton and the surrounding area, a nice backyard full of flowers (highly recommended to kick back there for a while), a hearty breakfast and sincere chat. Room well taken care of and fully equipped. All in all a very nice stay, we would definitely go again if and when we make it back to New Zealand! (🤞🏼)

Only a ten minute walk from the waterfront, Anchor Down is a real home from home. Janet and Ian make you very welcome, and give lots of helpful information about things to do locally, including boat and wine tours. The rooms are really comfortable and guests have use of their own sunny deck area. Breakfasts have home made preserves and cereals and guests also have access to tea and coffee making facilities and a bbq. Highly recommended - comfortable and quiet. Best to book ahead.

We stayed at Anchor Down based on reviews and were not led astray. Extremely comfortable, private room,.....very large with an incredibly comfortable bed. Janet was a fantastic host and we enjoyed the hot breakfast. They will even charge your electric car (which is an added bonus as there is not EV charger in Picton). Room was warm (which is a rarity in NZ), spotlessly clean, with a comfortable kitchen/lounge to relax in.
