The Owners, Michelle and Stefan, are lovely people and they have a beautiful property. On arrival and throughout our stay, they were so helpful and we stayed in delightful rooms. We were very pleasantly surprised by their attention to detail in every aspect of the bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and sitting room – way beyond what we had experienced elsewhere in NZ. You are a pleasant 10 minute walk into town and although we walked, on every occasion we did so, they offered to give us a lift. They will also meet you off the train or ferry if you ask! We left some stuff behind when we left and they went out of their way to forward it to us - many thanks! Can’t recommend Sennen House enough.

Anyone can run a guest house, but it requires attention to detail to run a guest house that stands out from the crowd. Once the essentials are in place it is the little things that make the difference. Michelle and Stefan have got that balance just right.

The details were just lovely...home made cake waiting for us each afternoon, a half bottle of chilled Sauvignon Blanc on arrival, classy table linen, 4 poster bed, the surprise breakfast extra brought to our door each morning, none of these were essential but they made our stay special.

All of this in a beautiful, secluded, historic property that was spotlessly clean yet oozing character and hosts who were effortlessly friendly and helpful without being overbearing. And all of this in beautiful Picton! We came to Sennen House at the half way stage of a hectic tour of NZ, looking for a slightly longer, more relaxed stay where we could recharge our batteries. We did that and more and if ever we are in Picton again we're staying at Sennen House.

Arrived here on a very wet evening after our ferry crossing from Wellington. Michele was there to welcome us with umbrellas at the ready. She helped us with our luggage into a charming warm room. We enjoyed exploring the room and finding all sorts of treasures including a bijou kitchen fully fitted out with everything you could require and lovely seating area set for breakfast which is included in the price. There is also a lovely appointed en-suite again with all the amenities you require. Bed was so comfortable and being a quiet location we slept well. The provisions provided for breakfast set us up beautifully for our drive to Christchurch. Would highly recommend - would have been nice to have a second night so we’ll have to come back.

Stayed at Sennen House for 1 night with my 2 siblings and their partners. This amazing heritage house is also part of our family history so was a wonderful experience for us all to be able to stay in what was once our Great Grand parents home. Michelle and Stefan are wonderful hosts who went over and beyond to make us all feel welcome and we all thoroughly enjoyed the home made cake on arrival. Every room in this home is 5 star, they are all wonderfully furnished and bed was amazing. The grounds in this home are beautifully kept and I strongly recommend staying at this fantastic historic home to experience a bit of Picton's history. Thank you Michelle and Stefan

Sennen House is a beautiful, old home surrounded by a lovely garden on a quiet edge of the town of Picton. We very much enjoyed our room, our breakfast, the setting, and the peace and quiet. However, we are writing this review because of the extraordinary hospitality of the owners, Michelle and Stefan. Both went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us during our brief stay. Picton is a charming, waterside town, and it is the port of arrival for large ferry boats coming from Wellington and the North Island. We arrived on such a boat, but following our ships arrival at the Picton Ferry Terminal, we arrived at the baggage claim area only to discover that another passenger had walked off with our luggage. Michelle came to the terminal to greet us and to take us to her Bed & Breakfast even though we had not requested that, and Michelle then patiently waited with us at the Terminal until the wayward passenger with our luggage could be tracked down, and the luggage returned to us. Not only did Michelle support us throughout our mini-crisis, but because one of us had a severely sprained ankle, and we were traveling without a car, Stefan was kind enough to drive us to a restaurant for dinner, so we wouldn't have to walk. As if those extremely kind gestures weren't enough, Michelle even drove us on the day of our departure to the train depot. The owners had family visiting and many other time consuming responsibilities during our stay, so for them to so graciously accommodate us showed exceptional character and generosity. If Sennen House is within your means, we can't imagine why visitors to Picton would want to lodge with anyone else.

We loved this grand house set in its own green haven at the foot of a gentle hillside. Our room was the Queen Charlotte studio, which had the bonus of a pretty sunlit deck where we enjoyed our afternoon tea and morning coffee.

I was thrilled to discover that the house, which dates back to the 1880s, was originally built for an immigrant merchant from my own birth city in England! As if that weren't enough to make us feel at home, our friendly hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. We appreciated their willingness to work around our ferry and train journeys, which affected our check-in and check-out times. And being picked up and dropped off was such a luxury.

Everything about our room was high quality, tasteful and in keeping with the period charm of the house. We must also mention the gorgeous gardens and colourful plants around the decks - little touches that made all the difference.

This old house has been beautifully converted into a lovely B&B. With comfy cozy beds and a nice sized room with friendly hosts all set in a gorgeous garden within walking distance to town how co it is you go wrong?
It’s a do it yourself style breakfast with eggs in the fridge and a choice of muesli, yoghurt and fruit but with a lovely table in your room all set up it’s very pleasant.
Enjoyed our last minute booking here.

We stayed again in the Captain Cook suite at Sennen House and it was as good as ever. Wonderful view across Picton, and a great place to base yourself for a day at the wineries or a cruise on Marlborough Sound.
Beautifully appointed facilities, great bed, comfy lounge, two bathrooms! Excellent breakfast each day. Delightful hosts can assist with anything you need to know, such as good local restaurants. We can’t speak too highly of this delightful B&B.

We stayed at Sennen House prior to, and after walking the Queen Charlotte Track. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. The bed and pillows very comfortable! Most importantly Michelle is an incredible host - she dropped us to our water taxi and picked us up, she did a detour to the bakery, and even got us a cold beer and snacks upon our return from a very long hot day hiking! Highly recommend Sennen House. Thank you!!

It was a gorgeous Victorian style house. The antique furniture and decoration were stunning. Michelle and Stefan were amazing hosts. Their pup, Harvey was adorable and so friendly. The breakfast for the room was farm fresh and delicious. Loved Michelle’s sense of humor when I ask about the bathroom. The door was leaded stained glass … beautiful. Best place we have stayed in New Zealand. I highly recommend this spot. The deck had a beautiful view of the woods and many native birds. The fresh cut flowers in the room and the bathroom were an unexpected delight. Best night sleep. If you’re in Picton this is the best by far place to stay.
