Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Villa is warm and cozy. Met some great folks from around the world, sharing kitchen ammenities and rooms. Great social time over apple crumble with ice cream every night. Clean and ideally located near everything! Owners and staff are very friendly, hands on and welcoming! Def recommend.

The hostel location is excellent being close to ferry check-in and railway station. It is only 100m away and on the main road. There are 5 and 6 bed dorms with usual squeaky bunks. Nice kitchen, dining and quiet rooms and access to front verandah and garden. Hot tub in garde

Said there was "free breakfast" but never saw any. Tea and coffee available all the time.

Friendly staff and a busy place.

Excellent base before and after walking the QC track. Plenty of options from dorms to private rooms with bathroom. We went for the private room option which had a bathroom, clean sheets and towels. Access to the lounge/tv room/spa pool/well equipped kitchen.

Great wee place at a great price. We had two nights here and there was everything we needed. A quaint old Villa with plenty of options. It was clean, warm and had a well equipped kitchen. Friendly staff too. Loved relaxing on the verandah couch to get the last of the afternoon sun, and also the garden lights at night.

We stayed here for one night as part of a Stray tour. The hostel is cutesy/oldy-worldy style. It could do with a bit of refurbishment, but was clean. We were in a 6 bed dorm and there wasn’t a lot of room for all of our bags. There’s a nice picnic area outside the back where we sat in the evening and had drinks together. It’s only a short walk to the supermarket and middle of town. There are laundry facilities but only a couple of machines do we used the laundromat a couple of doors down, which was good and quick.

I stayed here in May 2013 for a couple of days.

Lovely, quaint backpackers with free WiFi( I think it was 100MB per day) in the middle of Picton. It's about 4-5 minutes away from the Interislander Ferry Terminal and about 1-2 minutes to the Picton town centre.

The villa itself is pretty colorful... everytime you enter there's something new to see and to explore. There were lots of brochures, maps and information about everything concerning the Queen Charlotte Track, Abel Tasman and the Sounds on hand, and for all other questions there was always either Rob or Katrin around to help out.

Many thanks again to those two for helping me with booking my Queen Charlotte Track experience and answering all my questions. I had a blast! (and a few blisters...)

I stayed in a 6 share dorm room with 3 other girls and the room was nice, clean and cozy. The blankets and linens were provided. The beds were comfy and thankfully not squeaky at all. On some night in autumn it got a little bit cold, but the heaters were there and/ or you could ask for another blanket.

The bathrooms were ok, altough it sometimes it takes awhile until the water gets hot (probably due to many people showering at the same time). If you ask nicely, they will provide towels as well.
The hot tub is pretty nice, especially after doing the Queen Charlotte Track or one of the other smaller Picton walks.

The kitchen and the dining room were clean and were always well stocked with free spices, tea and coffee while I was there. Rob and his crew also providided free breakfast (toast and spread) for us every morning.

Now on to the best part: Hot apple crumble with ice cream every evening... hmmm, yummy!
i think they only serve the cumble in autumn / winter, so I was quite lucky (and happy) to be here at the right time. :)

A close second place goes to Milly, the hostel dog, who's just too cute (and hungry looking(although we were reassured that she's well fed)) for words!!

Thanks again Rob and Katrin and all the best from one of those bloody Germans! :)

Decent backpackers, clean rooms and comfortable beds... I really loved the garden and the hammock with the little fairy lights... The hot tub is a good addition, although I didn't really use it... The facilities provided are standard backpacker facilities- decent but nothing extra... It had a good vibe about it and i guess that's the important part...

Cheaper price.
Good location.
Female dorm has a sink in it, no need to go for the public ones.
Hot tub.
Homey atmosphere.
Building is special with decorations.
Very complete facilities.
The only problem is that the alarm sounds off with no reason, hope they get it fixed.

It literally feels and smells like your grandparents house but for the right reasons. Homely cooking smells and lavender.
Wifi is a bit temperamental but it is free so let's not complain about that. Has a large outdoor area if the weather is nice and it's also walking distance to the blue ridge ferry terminal.
