We have passed through Picton on many occassions but this time decided to use the town as a base, Anglesea proved to be a jewel offering roomy fully equipped clean plus the best prices in town and walking distance to the town centre and supermarket.

I came with my wife and baby daughter to Picton a bit lost last February, since this was the only place in our whole New Zealand trip that we did not had previous reservation (we were supposed to be heading to Christchurch, but the earthquake from 22-Feb-2011 disrupted our original plan). We found the place very close to the central block of Picton and the marine and to our luck it was a great place! For a reasonable price we got an apartment with new furniture, full equiped kitchen (important for us) and very close to everything. You can park your car in front of the apartment and this was also very good. I highly recommend this place for travelers going to Picton.

We stayed one night. Spacious rooms with a separate lounge area for the television. Host was friendly and informative. Premises may be antiquated, however very clean and freshly painted and well maintained. Very central to town, shops and the foreshore. Would certainly stay here again. Great value for money.

This was a real gem to find in Picton! Very clean and excellent value for money! John the owner couldn't have been more helpful and went out of his way to accommodate us even into finding out where we could go out of Picton to find Apricots before boarding the ferry home again. (which we did find).
The motel is situated in the perfect place to stay if doing any of the walks and needing the water taxis. Would advise anyone staying in Picton to seek this place out - it is worth a visit!

this motel was good value for money - probably one of the cheapest I looked at, but was better than I expected. It is an older style but has been repainted inside so is tidy and clean and completely adequate for an overnight stay before catching the ferry. It also had safe off street parking.

John was a fantastic host and nothing was too much trouble. I stayed here as a stopover from CHCH and heading back to the North Island. The room was clean, comfortable and certainly had everything I needed. As it is off the road, it was quiet too. Only a hop, skip and jump into town, and safe offroad parking. Thanks for a great stay John. I'll certainly be back. Cheers, Chris

Stayed one night prior to catching ferry. Made the mistake of driving past 3 times because it looked a bit dated, but there were only 2 other vacancies in Picton/ Waikawa and they wanted over $200 for a couple for one night ! What a surprise when we finally went in . Yes its basic, a wee bit dated , but it is easily the cleanest motel we have ever stayed in, and probably the first l have stayed in where l didnt feel compelled to clean the shower before using it. It was quiet, central, and the man in charge friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it , and have told several people since and they have stayed and are chuffed that they too know about this wee gem . Thanks guys , you deserve your high rankings

We stayed here while in Picton. Great little motel with spacious rooms and warm beds. Very nice people as well. Good location in the centre of town. The old Scotsman who signed us in was a proper character, who kept us entertained every time we talked. He teaches golf too I believe.

We stayed one night in the one-bedroom unit. The complex was spacious and had a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. A bit unclear how to check in and out, but worked out just fine. Parking space right outside of our complex and 10 minutes walk from down town. No wifi was provided. The interior was from ~1970 and felt old in general. We also found a cockroach sitting on the wall.

Like many people, we were wanting a reasonably priced overnighter in Picton, with the ability to sleep in separate rooms. Anglesea fitted the bill perfectly. One of us used the bedroom (a double which also has a single) while the other used a single divan in the lounge, which was comfortable. Yes, décor is dated but all serviceable. Good location and parking. No wifi so long stays might not suit some people. And just a plea for some oil on the bathroom door hinges and the bedroom door runners (unit 3) so any night bathroom visits don’t wake up the other occupants. Otherwise, all good and recommended.
