We recently stayed 2 nights in an apartment in the lodge section of this resort. From the moment we arrived Peter and his family made us feel incredibly welcome and the apartment was just gorgeous. Although it only had a distant view of the water the apartment itself was so lovely with up to the minute decor, great kitchen and dishwasher, spacious bedroom and comfy bed and very nice bathroom, that this made up for it in more ways than one. There was also a laundry in the main house so we were able to catch up on all our washing but this was only half the story. We also had access to a tennis court, swimming pool, spa pool and an incredibly spacious home theatre come entertaining room. We didnt have time to take advantage of all the great facilities but did use the billiard table and sat out in the spacious courtyard on our first evening. On the other night Peter screened some concerts for us and fellow guests on the large home theatre screen and even passed around the chocolates while we watched. At $NZ 165 a night we thought this was really good value and the only downside.... we didnt stay long enough. I can thoroughly recommend the Sports Resort for a great Picton stay.
