Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nicky's place in Picton! The Juggler's Rest is more like a homestay rather than a hostel! It's in a lovely homey house with Nicky as a warm host. We felt like it was a home away from home. We stayed here for my boyfriend's 30th birthday - it was great to be able to bake a cake in the well-stocked kitchen! Nicky was lovely and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our evening chats next to the fire place cooking baked potatoes! There is a great herb garden so you can pick a bunch of fresh herbs to cook with which was so nice! We will definitely stay here again if we are back in Picton! Thanks for having us! We had a fabulous time at this very special place. I had visited over 20 years ago and always wanted to go back. I am so glad I did, because it was even better than in my memory. The owner, Nicky, patiently taught my circus-loving daughter some new skills and we met lots of interesting folks, as well as relaxing in the hammocks, cuddling Omi the cat and sharing a group prayer in response to the Australian bushfires. 5 stars!

Loved this place to bits! adequate human to space ratio so it doesn't feel too cramped. We could use their kitchen facilities which is full of herbs and spices. Very cosy ambience with charming host (and her friends). Appreciate that this hostel uses environmentally-friendly products in their housekeeping!Would recommend this hostel and would definitely book this hostel if I go back to Picton!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Juggler's Rest for four nights, and had the loveliest time. Nikki the owner is a circus performer with a great sense of humour, and was so much fun to talk to, and she even took us on a tour to swim with dolphins! So glad we stayed there, we will definitely be back :)

We had a brilliant stay with a super host (who even opened slightly early to fit us in), who is really friendly and full of great local recommendations and jokes! Great access to local tracks, everything is sparkling clean and the breakfast (paid) is amazing (free-range local eggs, home made juice and bread etc.). Thank you for a super stay.

This hostel is a truly special and unique place! The communal areas as well as the rooms are very cosy and make it easy to relax and feel right at home. The big garden and the spacious front deck provide further space to hang out and to enjoy yourself. The kichen is extremely well equipped and everything is very clean and well looked after. The small amount of beds make it easy to get to know the other guest and create a almost familiar atmosphere. The staff is very helpful and kind. I really enjoyed my stay the jugglers rest and would love to go back there anytime.

This amazing little hostel is unlike any other I have stayed in, its is unique and fantastic! The service provided is excellent and very thoughtful. The space itself, house and grounds, are very well maintained, beautiful and really make you feel at home. The small number of beds (and lack of bunk beds in the dorm rooms) means that it never feels too crouded and you can really relax into your time staying there. There are lots of communal spaces to chill out in and chat to the other guest as well as private corners in the garden. All the circus toys, games inside and the occasional impromptu fire show from the owner or one of the Artists in Residence they have here meant that there was always something to do even without leaving the hostel. It’s in perfect location, nice and quite and very close to the start of two beautiful hikes in the hills around Picton and only a 10 minute walk along the river into town! The staff were all friendly and very helpful, able to make bookings for you or just give advice on the area and availability activities. all in all an absolute highlight and a pleasure of a stay on my travels thus far

I embraced my inner solo traveller and this was the perfect place to do it! The hostel was lovely, my room clean and just the privacy I needed. Met some great people to spend time with including the staff here. Loved the different circus tricks and equipment, the hammocks under the grape vines and the laid back, peaceful vibe of the place. The breakfast was amazing and Nicki and her team were great hosts. I hope the next person who buys this place is as good! X

A beautiful, homely, clean and incredibly well equipped hostel. Lots of circus and spinning props for use, circus tuition and shows. The cat is lovely and the staff are really helpful. You can help yourself to the veggie and herb garden (and grapevine!) and hang out on the beautiful veranda on beanbags and in hammocks relaxing, playing, chatting or doing whatever takes your fancy. There is a really great vibe among the people that choose to stay there. During my week there I met and connected with some truly lovely people and felt the most 'at home' I have ever felt in a backpackers. It's small enough that everyone can meet and befriend everyone else but big enough so that you're not in eachothers way. I particularly loved the amazingly well equipped kitchen with juicer and blender and every gadget you could want. I definitely recommend it. Thank you for a lovely time Nikki, Hazel and Chrissy xxx Erin xxx
