Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed in twin room. Cheap but not that clean. The whole hostel needs a bit of a spruce up really. Free breakfast was not great but free dessert was very nice home made carrot cake. No window in room so for ventilation there was a hole in the wall making room non private and noisy.

This hostel is extremely comfortable and the owners makes you feel at home as soon as you check in. Private rooms were comfortable and the common rooms were very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked but could be a bit busy at times.

This is a decent Place to stay for people in transit with a weird vibe. The host Shearer is excellent and remembers the minute details for guests. There are multiple eateries around besides a shared kitchen and common room.

The place could do with improved Ventilation and some freshners.

Close to the port with very friendly owners but there the good points stop! It was smelly, Old, dated. Cats ran out from under our bed. WiFi was almost non existent and to top it all I later found out my bed was infested with bed bugs!( see picture) Which was no surprise after I had stripped my bed (as this is policy) to find brown stained pillow and period stained mattress protector! It was an utterly discussing place. My Daughter and I spent a month in hostels all over New Zealand this was the only one to be bad and it was horrific. Avoid avoid avoid!

Stayed here for just one night in the dorm before catching the ferry to the north island. Very fairly priced. Shira, the owner and main staff member, was so accommodating and genuinely cared about each and every guest. Although we arrived too late for the free dessert and left too early for the breakfast, we heard great things about both.

Atlantis is one of my best backpacker in Nz!

Sheira always very welcome to travelers, and made me comfortable as soon as I check in. I felt like a home. It was really nice for solo traveler like me.

Lounge have a nice fire place and cozy sofas. Staffs clean toilet and shower room everyday, so facilities are very clean. Also everyone use it with respect.

Sheira was really flexible and helpful for my request always. She is such a lovely people.

Absolutely disgusting company!! They support medical apartheid in NZ. Covid 19 vaccination doesn’t even stop transmission of the virus at all. History will remember those that supported medical discrimination!
