The room was fine except for the fact that it didn't have a lock and that the staff had to walk through the dorm to access their office. This meant that any to chill out in the room were thwarted by a thoroughfare of eyes, feet and conversations. Showers were awful. One had instructions that didn't make an awful lot...

I stayed in this hostel for one night with my friend whilst travelling. We stayed in a lovely 4 bed dorm with its own bathroom. It was clean and nicely decorated and right next to the outdoor eating space. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and we were given a guided tour of the hotel and recommendations for...

My ensuite room is facing the main street of Akaroa. Since it is not peak season, it is not crowded and not noisy at night. Room is tiny but cozy. might have problem to open ur luggage if it is big. And the communal area and kitchen is just steps away. I could smell smoke from the kitchen even with...

I had booked the queen ensuite room. Upon arrival, I was shown to the room by a friendly staff and was very impressed with the decor and overall warm and comfortable feeling of the place. The queen ensuite room also has a single bed, so the room is great for three guests. However, the space was not very large so...

I really enjoyed my stay at this cute pink house. It's a bit small but charming. Everything is clean and there is a nice garden. Stuff is really nice and helpful. Gave me lots of tips what to do. Wifi is free and working well. Also it's close to supermarket and bus stop!

This is a super little hostel - friendly and welcoming. It felt like a real community amongst the staff working here, all of whom were happy to give advice on things to do. We also got given home made cake by one of them! Cooking was made so much easier by a great range of oils, herbs and spices available...

What a pretty in pink house. Clean, tidy, comfy beds, jolly multi national staff, great facilities - what's not to like! Throughly enjoyed my stay. Book early, they are busy for a very good reason! A highly recommended experience. Thank you all :)

Really charming hostel, lovely backyard with a hammock and gas BBQ. Stayed here for a night in a double with shared facilities but could have easily stayed longer. Great place for exploring the Banks Peninsula. The kitchen is well equipped, free coffee and tea, free WiFi as well. We didn't have trouble parking in front of the hostel either. Giving...

There were lots of negative things with this hostel, sadly. For example dirty kitchen, flees in the beds, no locks and so on. But the crew were nice, and they had free wifi! The book shelf were you could put in a book and take one to keep were awesome, I even found some swedish books :D I would probably...

If you are looking for a clean and relatively inexpressive place to stay, Chez la Mer is a perfect spot for it. Probably, it is wiser to reserve in advance, however, we popped at the door and were lucky enough to find a room for two. The place has a garden and the sitting outside with a BBQ available. Quickly,...
