We had a double ensuite room. Not modern but very comfortable and clean. Reasonable rates. Hostel is located in centre of town, with on road parking in front of hostel or down quiet side road. A well run friendly hostel.

Stayed for a night and the place is cute with the sound of fountain in the garden that makes you more relax..There is also a piano and books to choose from..Our dorm has a toilet inside which I likely prefer..The staffs are accomodating and helpful..I will definitely comeback..

This is my 6th time bicycling around New Zealand, and this has been my favorite stay. One of the original historic buildings in French-flavored Akaroa, owned by Sara and sailing Captain Roy, and beautifully managed by Christie and her fun staff. I don't remember ever having had so much fun in a NZ hostel. Plus, as a bonus you get...

A nice little hostel perfectly located in Akaroa; right next to many of the shops, cafes and the four square. The rooms are quite clean as are the bathrooms. Small kitchen but it has a smaller occupancy so it works! And there is a beautiful garden to hang out in in the back.

To be greeted by the delightful Janna was like being greeted by a long lost relative. What a welcome. Such a homely feel to the hostel. A piano to play, bikes to borrow, spices to cook with, a peaceful garden to unwind in. If hostels the world over were all like Chez la Mer, why would anyone choose to stay...

Akaroa is a gorgeous town by the sea. This hostel is right in the town. The accommodation is good. We had a twin room ('queen' here) with our own bathroom. There was even a little kitchen on our floor. The whole experience felt like old-world luxury. The hostel has all the facilities you could need, include bikes for borrowing.

Great homely little backpackers with a relaxing garden for some chilling out and time out. Close to everything right on the main street complimented with the friendly & welcoming hospitality of managers Janna and Nick. Check it out plus Akaroea is well worth the visit!! :-)

Great location right in the center of Akaroa...the house is bright pink and can't be missed! We were just there for one night so we didn't take advantage of many of the perks, but the wifi is free and the lounge is cozy. The back garden is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing breakfast. We stayed in a 4 bed...

Cute little pink backpacker hostel for backpacker! Free wifi, fishing rod, bike, hot water bottle, walking track maps and super friendly staffs. If you like to cook, they have plenty of spices in their kitchen, they even compile recipes from backpacker around the world into a small book in their kitchen. Give it try when you have nothing to do...
