The stay was amazing. We stayed in one of the studios and it had a lovely view of the mountains and ocean!! Really ideal spot as there was restaurants/bars right below us so we walked most the time 🤩
We found this room suitable for me in a manual wheelchair. Wet floor bathroom and rails were adequate. Mirror is to high for w/c user. The entrance door was rather step and I needed help getting in and out of this room. A lovely view of habour and wharf area. Peaceful.
Spent about 20 minutes to find reception, as there was no reception at the actual unit block. Eventually found it at another unit block up the street and around the corner. Very confusing to say the least. There was a sign to reception on the side of the road, but was pointing in the wrong direction. We had the unit with the turret. Perfect spot. Fabulous view. Tried wifi. Didn't work and gave up. Half way through having a shower the heater in bathroom stopped and never came back on again. Could not get tv to work. We would probably know how to work it if we were locals. But there were no directions in unit. I think the position and view were spot on. But overall, for what you pay, I would expect everything to work.
This was our second time back to unit 70 as we enjoyed it so much last time. Great winter weekend in a very quite Akaroa. Weather was cool but we still got out and enjoyed what Akaroa had to offer. We wanted to do the cat but unfortunately the afternoon sail did not go ahead due to low numbers and rough sea. We went and explored the biking, did a walk to the waterfall and then another one on the summit road. We explored Wainui and had a superb roast lunch at the Duvauchelle hotel. Watched the footy at the Grand Hotel and loved the live music they had on before hand. . Loved watching the moody seas from our balcony. Manager was lovely even when we had to call him :)
Access to the room was via an old fire escape leading off a disused alleyway covered in leaves, old styrofoam food containers and potholes in the paving. Not a good look!!! The accommodation was fine and well kept but the shower slide and arm was held together with a cable tie so you had to hold the shower in your one hand and wash with the other; not an easy job and again not a good look!!!! The room was fine but the great ocean view was spoilt by a big cobweb covered signboard for the restaurant below right in front of our balcony and window. Stay there again... not likely!!!
Great location and unit. Beautiful view towards the waterfront. Nice clean spacious unit. Just be nicer with carpet not wooden floors. Shower was different as was not separated and the water went everywhere flooding the bathroom floor. Was a bit of a pain to clean up. Could of mentioned this upon checking in.
This unit definitely needs updated. The door into the unit is coming off it’s hinges and is extremely hard to open. The heat pump needs to be on full fan and set at 26 or more to heat the small unit. A couple of light bulbs need replaced and the bed didn’t have an electric blanket. The canopy over the bed needs a jolly good wash as do the windows. There are quite a few cobwebs and the microwave was covered in fingerprints. Having said all that, we would definitely stay there again as the bed was super comfy and the location fantastic.
We stayed in The Penthouse with a fabulous view over Akoroa Harbour. Staff were excellent the apartment was very roomy and had all the amenities that we needed. Very close to some cafes and restaurants and easy walking distance to the others.
My father and I had one night in Akaroa and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff at Akaroa Village Inn were fantastic and they have a brilliant selection of ice cream flavours in the reception area/shop! The two bedroom apartment was very spacious, clean and functional. The beds were amazingly soft so no issues there. It is located just meters from the waterfront and the stores at the southern end of town. It is still very quiet so I highly recommend visiting before the masses reappear!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, perfect quiet location right across from the wharf and close to restaurants and shops. Clean and tidy, plenty of room to relax, and has the bonus of parking. Great outdoor seating to enjoy the sun and views.
