Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel Malavec is an older hotel but had decent sized rooms and was clean. The furnishings were a little outdated, but it all worked. They had a very nice breakfast in the morning that was included. Good parking and very close to the interstate but not close enough that you heard the cars. There were a couple of restaurants within walking distance in the small town. It’s a good location if you are there to see the caves.

I stayed at Hotel Malovec for one night mainly to visit fhe Skocjan Caves nearby which are awesome. Everything was great but I particularly wanted to thank Darja for his kindness in sorting out transport to the caves and back. On a very wet day this was very welcome. His colleague Marko told me the next morning that he believes Darja makes the best coffee too - and I can vouch for that too myself. Thank you!

Very good hotel: clean and cosy! The breakfast and the restaurant are brilliant. It's staff is so kind. I experienced a serious health problem during my stay and they promptly helped me and my wife. I have no hesitation to recommend it.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms and nice bar. We stayed here for the weekend and everything was nice. The location is great base for discovering Karst. We came with rather expensive bikes and the hotel has a big garage ehich is closed at night so we could leave them there.

If you are visiting the caves or the Lipizana stables this hotel is a must... rooms are basic but family friendly, well priced and you can NOT beat their amazing restaurant out back that serves the most amazing meals (fresh truffles / locally fresh butchered meat, reasonable prices, on top of great service). I found this place by happenstance and it turned out to be the highlight of my trip to Slovenia....

Very nicely decorated and clean hotel. Extremely friendly staff who ensure that you lack nothing. Daily cleaned and towels replaced. The hotel is an excellent starting point for all karst phenomena (Škocjan Caves, Lipica, Dutovlje, Postojna Cave, sea ...)

Restaurant within the hotel that operates independently. It’s summer so we were sitting outside on the terrace. Delicious food with a decent choice of menus and wine. Nothing special but homemade. Waiters very helpful and decent. Price are ok...maybe too much for this kind of food.

Hotel was great, front desk person friendly and helpful. It was a sunny day and I was hoping for a balcony room but they were booked.. We went for dinner around the corner, turn right and right. Kind of wondered because the place was empty when we went in. But then a couple of locals came in so that was a good sign. The food was superb! I had pasta without truffles and goat cheese, Tom had Hungarian Goulash. We both felt it was the best regional food we’ve had on our trip. Hotel provides breakfast which was good and very handy. We had a car so easily drove to Lipica in the morning. Note that at this time of year there isn’t a show every day but we still did the free walking tour and paid for the train session. Also note that if you pay (5E)for parking you get 3E back from your tour ticket but you have to ask.
