Great location. Easy walk from the airport-bus stop or train station.
The room was small and a little bit old and worn... but it was clean and everything worked (except the TV) Lobby and restaurant had some odd Twin Peaks -vibes, mainly due to that wine red 90's decor and the fact that I never saw any customers there outside breakfast hours.

My wife and I stayed at the monte kristo for 3 nights. It's a lovely hotel. Very olde worlde. The staff were great and made us feel very welcome. The room was small but has everything you'd expect in a hotel. The temperature of the room was bizarre! I'm not complaining for one minute, but it seemed the heating was on full blast. We had to sleep with the windows open! Strangely the rest of the hotel seemed to be hot too. The breakfast area was quite small and cramped with people and tables very close to each other. One blessing was the aircon as there wasn't any windows in the cellar/basement where the breakfast was held. Food was buffet style. Nothing exciting, but adequate for breakfast. Would I come again? Definitely. The location is a plus. Situated in the centre of riga, it was close to everything. It was our second visit to riga and for a small city it has a lot going for it.

Highly recommend the Hotel Monte Kristo. Ideal location, being a short walk from the old town and the market. High standard of cleanliness with comfortable beds and pillows. Fixtures and fittings are good quality. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English. The breakfast is buffet style with both hot and cold options. The atmospheric cellar bar area is open in the evenings with reasonable drinks prices.
I think this hotel would be difficult to beat on quality, cleanliness and value.

It has a very central and quiet location on the edge of the old town, just a one minute walk to a tram stop and five more minutes to bus and train stations. The interior of the hotel is like from a tale and rooms are spacious and comfortable. Buffet breakfast is tasty and includes a lot of various items. Friendly staff and very fast wifi. Excellent price/quality. Recommended +++

We stayed at this hotel a few times but the level of service became worse and worse. The location is all right but even the budget room price does not compensate for the bad experience which you will face. First of all, it is definitely not 4* hotel, maximum 3* if you will be lucky enough to get a good room. The room itself is small, the bed setting uncomfortable and the room is terribly dirty. Even when the room is "Ready" doesn't mean that it is clean. Upon check in we found a row of empty bottles and cans behind the entrance door from previous guests. The water in shower doesn't drain. We talked about it several times but nothing was done. The breakfast is the same every morning and the breakfast area is so small that it is impossible to squeeze between tables. The coffee maker is so old that it is hardly working and coffee is awful and cheap. The staff is so hopeless that they are lying intentionally. If you forget something do not hope to get it back. Our previous stay we left jewelry in the room and contacted the Hotel straight away after check out. They nicely replied that everything was found and we can collect jewelry upon our next stay. I called the hotel three weeks before arrival and asked to prepare our stuff, which has been promised. But upon arrival I was told that they never confirmed anything (even I had written confirmation), later on that it was not my jewelry that they found and lastly that they have no time to deal with my request.
so absolutely helpless, rude and lying staff. We spoke to the manager who promised to resolve it but as usual nothing was done.

This hotel has character, we had a massive 7 foot double bed in a large room, with all we needed, including a fridge.
The restaurant is in the cellar below ground and can be a bit crowded at times, but if the weather is good they also have a large terraced area outside with tables set for eating or just for a drink. Menu is OK and reasonably priced, certainly all the meals we had there were prepared for us at the time. Breakfast is buffet style, but the choice was massive and you could have as much as you wanted.
The hotel is situated on the edge of the old city, but far enough from the bars etc. so that we were not affected with noise. Apparently all of the old city has centralised heated water and beware in the first week of August they test the system ready for the winter, we were not aware that the hotel would have no hot water for 2 days. Also be warned that although the bath has a plug wash basins do not, apparently that is normal in Latvia, so if you want to wash/shave etc. in the basin take a plug with you.

To begin with; Location is good. It's in the old city, close to a shopping mall, cafes, restaurants etc.

Unfortunately the rest is not up to standard. I booked a junior suite. TV was probably 26", only one channel with English language worked (chinese international news...). Layout of the room was insane, and had nothing to do with a regular junior suite. Slight smell of sewage in the batroom, probably coming from the unclean bublebath... Fridge not plugged in when arriving, and in general poor service. They do have an free ironing service - which is that they bring you an iron + board ;P Breakfast was really limited, however clean. I seriously recommend to use the brand hotels when visiting Riga, instead of going here. Both the Wellton chain, and Radisson chain, deliver much better quality for your money.

The only good thing about the hotel is reception and breakfast . Hotel is dark gloomy . We had a room on the 4th floor that like like a Jail cell right out of Monte Kristin movie . Window in the ceiling every time you try to open it you’re worried if there are bugs that might fall on you they have this cloth that is the barrier between the window and bed and it’s half open . AC is barely working even though we mentioned it to the receptionist . The technician came to look at it but he was useless didn’t do a thing on day 4 it broke down while hot and humid in the room . No air circulation in the room. The hotel is dark and gloomy . Even the little cave where they serve breakfast which was excellent btw is dark and gloomy . I wouldn’t stay in this hotel ever again . We tried changing the room numerous times the hotel we’d saying it’s sold out .

Old-fashioned hotel with charming interior decor (elegant stairwells and carpets), very good location in Old Town Riga - 5 minutes walk from the Church of St. Peter and the House of the Black Heads. Simple room with narrow but comfortable beds. Excellent buffet breakfast (coffee, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, muesli, sausage, salad, herring, eggs, cakes, fruit, bread and jam, pancakes, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers) that you can eat on the terrace outside! Friendly staff.

This hotel is a scam with absolutely no customer service, stay away at all costs. I had a reservation but Latvia entered a strict quarantine + curfew meaning it was impossible to go, instead of doing like thousands of other hotels I’ve been and be a minimum arranging and try looking for a solution like a normal hotel!
They not only didn’t even bother responding to my messages but block me. A total lack of respect, really terrible hotel, don’t go

?? Parking
Answer from Glaghan

Hi Barbara, the hotel is sandwiched between two streets and I did see cars parked there but I don't think the hotel has it's own parking. There is parking spaces across from KFC but call the hotel for your own piece of mind. Hope this helps.

Hi , get off at the Forum Cinema and cross the road via the underpass and walk down to the hotel which will be on your right.

Hi, get off at the stop for the Forum Cinema on your right hand side. You need to get to the other side of the road so use the under pass and walk down to hotel which will be on your right. Hope this helps.
