The hotel location is spot on. It is set in a very old building right in the heart of the old town by St Peters Church. The central market, bars and sights are within easy walking distance.
The hotel itself is charming. It is set in an old convent and was spotlessly clean. We stayed in room 10 around the corner in an annexe.
Breakfast was good and varied. There was cereal, juice, coffee, toast, eggs, cheese, meat and a salad bar.
We were really pleased with the hotel until we went to sleep or tried to!!! The bed was probably the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. Hard mattress with a damaged bed frame that squeaked loudly with the slightest movement. Every time we moved in our sleep we were woken up. We had a terrible nights sleep and what made it worse was that we had to pay full price for a room with a damaged bed. When we mentioned it to the staff they did not offer us a discount or seemed that bothered. It was hard to pay 50 euros for a crap nights sleep. It's a shame cos we would have given the hotel full marks.

Stayed for one night early June.

The hotel itself is in an old tastefully refurbished building that has a fair bit of old style character about it. It is not big hotel with only a few rooms on each floor. There are no lifts instead a number of flights of steep steps (3 flights from memory), so be aware if you are a bit older or have a broken leg! The Rooms are nicely appointed with the basics and an averge size.

Our room I think was at the back of the hotel and on the top floor so it was reasonably quiet for us. Reception staff were ladies and they were very freindly. The price was very reasonable.

This hotel is perfectly placed at the centre of the old town of Riga and very close to all the great attractions. Right out the front of the hotel is St Peters Church, to the left around a corner is St Johns church courtyard. To the right around a corner is the Konventa Seta Hotel complex - a set of old buildings and laneways converted into a hotel.

The included breakfast is not at the Ekes Konvents but in the Konventa Seta hotel complex ( reception gives a voucher and instructions on how to get there). The breakfast was buffet and had an ok selection, nothing outstanding. One tip is that you can access St Johns Courtyard from the place where you have breakfast (just wander through some of the warren of short corridors) and we later found out that you can actually take your breakfast and sit at the tables in the restaurant/bar outside in the courtyard as it is owned by that hotel - on a sunny morning it would be great (we had dinner at that courtyard restaurant/bar the night before and it had quite good food itself as well).

Riga itself is a great place, the architecture is fantastic, and though apparently a fair chunk of the old town was actually damaged during WW2 they have dome a terrific job in reconstructing the damaged buildings in their original style. Be aware of the cobbled streets in Riga, trust me dragging bags ain't fun there!

Happy to recommend this hotel, the outstanding features are the price, location.

My husband and I stayed at Ekes Konvents for 2 nights and found it to be a gorgeous little boutique hotel located in the heart of the Old Town. The hotel has beautiful character and charm which we loved.

We went for the large room which was plenty big enough. Comfy beds and pillows, spotlessly clean room at a great price (we paid 70 Euro per night including breakfast).

The only negative was that since it was in such a great location and handy to the restuarants and bars it was pretty noisy at night time (all night!). Our room faced out onto the street which was obviously a lovely view but if you're a light sleeper I would recommend opting for less of a view and having a room facing away from the street.

The breakfast which is included in the room rate is via a restuarant down the road. It was very very basic but ok.

There's a little bike hire place around the corner from the hotel. I suggest hiring a bike for a few hours and riding around the town; best way to see it.

All in all a great hotel which we would recommend.

I stayed in this hotel and, unfortunately, I forgot two of my leather jackets in the room. When I got back to London the next day and realised it, I called the hotel to arrange collection, but I was told by the receptionist that my jackets were found and thrown away in the bin the same day. He told me that a cleaner found my jackets and threw them away straight away. I emailed the manager about it, but he didn't even bother to call me back and apologise for it. When I called them again, the manager said that they don't take responsibility for it and that it was my fault I forgot my jackets. He was quite rude and very unprofessional. Also, he put the phone down on me.
I find it unacceptable behaviour and absolutely ridiculous.
I travel across Europe on a regular basis due to my work. I have stayed in many hotels in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia as well as all around the world, I have never come across such unacceptable behaviour by hotel employees. The hotel should have certain policies, including lost property. People regularly forget things. A hotel should keep lost things at least for a month or so. The staff cannot just throw away valuable things in the bin. I called the very next day, not in a month or two month time. Any normal person would never throw away two new expensive leather jackets in the bin.
I find this story unbelievable.
Don't ever stay in this hotel if you want your things to be safe in case you forget them in the hotel.
Awful customer service!

Beware of Ekes! First a low price is given, but a few days later you will receive a message that the real price is three or four times the original and you can get a discount if you write a good review in Trip Advisor. - Paulina

The location of Ekes Konvents is great, right in the heart of Old Town Riga, but the rooms are tiny, cramped, with terrible pillows and a small, barely functional bathroom. There is no elevator, the stairs are narrow, and it is difficult to maneuver luggage to the third floor as the stairs are particularly steep. The staff is friendly but not particularly helpful, especially if you arrive early and want to check in. If you want to live like a nun in a convent, then this may be the place for you but if you want some level of comfort while you explore Riga, I wouldn't recommend this place as there really is no charm to it.

The hotel is located in an old house directly in the heart of old town. The location is excellent for all touristical activities.
The hotel is very small, has only eleven rooms, no lobby, no restaurant, no TV. That is fantastic and it makes the hotel a special experience. But the hotel is very loud; that means, you can hear EVERYTHING: the noise from the street (people talkin, cars driving) and everything any other guest does. If you have no problem with that, just book the hotel!
The rooms are tiny, the bathroom as well.
I would not book it again due to the circumstances mentioned above.

I booked a room via Airbnb 12th July to see Ed Sheeran's concert. I did my booking a couple months ago in advance, because i knew that the prices will go up later. The host confirmed. Today i received a message in Airbnb from the host (Quote):

"Thank you for your reservation, although to confirm reservation you need to leave good review (before check in) at Tripadvisor. Also price per night is 70 EUR.
When you leave (good) review you get 20 EUR discount. "

First of all the fix price for the room was 52 eur. Secondly, I refused POLITELY, saying that I dont feel comfortable with writing a review to a hotel i have never been to, please go ahead and confirm my booking. Then the host said that they dont feel comfortable with hosting me and cancelled my reservation for no reason. I even wrote back to them that I dont want to write a review but why did You cancel as im willing to pay that 70 euros if You want, (because obviously since all the hotels are sold out,i dont have another option), then the host said its "technical issues"

Very intolerable behaviour to cancel a booking thats been done way in advance because i wouldnt write You a fake review. I dont reccomend this place to anyone, this kind of behaviour is so unethical.

We booked the room in advance on Airbnb for fixed price in EUR 60 per night. Next day, the message arrived with the request for writing a good and nice review on tripadvisor or the price increases and becomes EUR 70 per night. In case of good review (specifically mentioning that it has to be written before the check-in) we get the discount for EUR 20 in the whole.
We think it is disgusting to blackmail its custumers like this, it is cheating and highly impermissible in community.
We think that everyone should know this place as liars and treat them as well.

I booked this through Air BnB and asked for a room at the back as I have heard it is not as noisy. Throughout my response I was really polite and stated how excited I was to stay in the hotel. I was only asking if it was possible. They replied saying they were cancelling my booking for no reason! I replied instantly and said the noise was not a problem but they cancelled anyway.

So unprofessional. We will take our business somewhere else! Travellers beware!!

Booking sites announce there is no internet in the hotel. In fact there is, in the rooms, but the hotel staff warns for instable signals. However during the five days we were there we did not experience any difficulties. For us it was all quite ok.

The hotel lies in a traffic free zone. There are opportunities to park within a radius of a few hundreds of meters but the fees are not cheap to Riga standards.
