This is a wonderful hotel located in the historic place in Bergabazar, surrounded by a lot of nice restaurants , shops etc. The location is perfect for many sightseeings in Riga , including the National Gallery, Art Nouveau Museum, Russian Orthodox Church etc. all within walking distance. Asly’s it’s great if you would like to shop the shopping mall Stockmann is also quite close , so it’s pretty convenient.
The hotel itself is very cozy and calm. The rooms are very spacious with plenty of space. There is a small kitchenette which is also convenient.
The beds are comfy and the bathroom is nice .
The breakfast is very yummy and in the mornings when hotel is not very busy they can do it specially for you, tailor made.
The staff is pleasant and helpful.
This hotel is perfect if you want to discover Riga, or stay for slightly longer , due to the size of the rooms , etc., or if you are with kids, as the kitchenette is convenient .
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would not mind to stay here again if I’m in Riga.

What a wonderful, friendly, central, modern hotel. My wife and I were in Riga for 3 weeks (she was studying), I was completing Middlemarch and took some pottery lessons. Our suite, comprised a spacious living/dining /"office" area, a kitchenette (with all the requisite equipment and table ware) one full modern bathroom, and a powder room (how handy that was during 3 weeks!) a bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed, and the lighting from bedside to bathroom to desk to reading was superb. Housekeeping was always there promptly when we left for the morning, and did a wonderful job. The front desk was extremely helpful, and accommodating beyond all expectations. For instance, we wondered if there could not be a roller for the gym. In less than 24hours there were two rollers in the gym.

The location is easy walking to the old city, to the train and bus stations, to all attractions in the "newer" part of the town, and 1/2 block form a network of some of the most beautiful gardens and parks anywhere. The Hotel Bergs is set within a historic plaza where Riga is "happening".

But most of all, the front desk made the stay especially pleasant and memorable.

To all visitors and guests of Riga,
It was 1st time when we stayed in Bergs, hotel Riga. Result of our stay is:
Wonderful king-size bed (without separation in the middle :) ) with different type of pillows.
Room is clean and big.
We had small kitchen (cannot cook, but can wash fruits or else) with plates, cups and etc. Everything you need to if you want to stay in the room and have romantic evening.
It was business trip combined with one day off and we (me and my wife) had a very good relax and slept very well. It was really quiet.
It is not cheapest place to stay but worth every cent was spend.
Breakfast is obsoletely fantastic. You can choose from Swedish table of from many + A la carte menu is available (we didn't used it but sure it is also perfect).
Service in hotel is excellent. Team is friendly and very polite. Parking is also available, hotel team will park your car by request.
Really recommend this place and really will come back here next time.
P.S. Be aware that GPS is not guide you directly to hotel. So it is better to have phone number of reception and they will assist for sure.

This was the second time I visited the lively city of Riga. And February with blue sunny sky was amazing. I like this hotel because firstly, the service was very good, staff members were all very helpful with welcome smiles, every evening you would be asked for need of turn down service. There was free private sauna session with good facilities The room was very clean with beautiful furnitures and cozy design. The morning buffet breakfast offered with just the right varieties, needless to say of good quality, place was spacious and comfortable. Location of hotel was good, close to those delicious and classy restaurants both in old town and in the center, central market and supermarkets. If you need exercises and yoga, there was also a room reserved for simple fitness. Only TV for watching youtube was slow in data connection.

This was the nicest hotel in one of the nicest cities on my recent trip. Riga is unexpectedly wonderful, a walkable city with lots of green space and an outstanding Old Town. Compared to Old Towns in Bergen, Norway and Tallinn, Estonia, Riga has an old center that isn't completely taken over by tourist related businesses. It still contains the center of government. Many of the buildings are of art nouveau design (Jugendstil), and will take your breath away. There are tours available of the town and area, decent restaurants including hole-in-the-wall pancake places, and large cafeteria-style places, that will work well for singles, families and the impoverished, and prices are low by Western standards. The Hotel Bergs is located at the edge of the business district 4 blocks or so from the Old Town. This is OK though, because is is surrounded by restaurants and an upscale shopping center (Berga Bazars), and is only two blocks from a large shopping mall and the railroad station. It is three blocks from the bus station and the adjacent market area, which is great to stroll around. There is a branch of Stockmann's nearby as well. I had a junior suite, the least expensive room, and it was great. It was at least twice as large as my usual Radisson rooms, had a separate wet bar area, a big bathroom and lots of closet space. The breakfast buffet was quite good, as was dinner in the hotel restaurant. The hotel staff was outstanding. Physically the entire place, bedrooms and common areas, were gorgeous. I would absolutely come back to Riga and stay here (maybe just to stay here!).

We researched Riga hotels and found this "new gem" written up in a couple of journals. It exceeded our expectations. Rooms were enormous, quiet, and well appointed. The buffet breakfast exceeded our expectations -- particularly for such a small hotel. The staff were all eager to please. We would definately stay here again.

We just got back from our stay at this lovely hotel. We booked a loft suite and it certainly did not dissapoint. Two bathrooms, a kitchenette with no trouble making room for our goods without the annoying "pay if you take anything out". Large upstairs bedroom with our pick of pillows, we got a pillow menu and all got a great nights sleep, a TV both upstairs and downstairs, a DVD player and we could get DVDs from the lobby. Fluffy bathrobes, slippers, towels, everything in one room we could wish for. In fact, we just did not want to leave the room at all.
But when we did, the lobby was very helpful, we were never any trouble for them it seemed. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the old town and inside a Bazhar of shops, mainly galleries and speciality shops. A very nice stroll to have and some good resturants tho I would not recommend Fellinis, an italian resturant there. The one in the hotel is so much better and more confortable. Also short walk to the grand market and that is worth a look.

In fact the city is pretty small and very walkable. Just dont bother the locals, they are all grumpy for some reason.

And as a last word, another plus for the hotel. They allowed us a very late check out, no questions asked ( my child was sick) and it saved the day. I very highly recommed a stay in this charming hotel.

I stayed in this hotell with some of my co-workers and I have never been to a more stylish/trendy hotel.
I have never used a lock system which they used, but it was not a problem. It had instruction on the card (key) how to operate it.
As you can see from the photos I have uploaded it is a very nice hotel. The rooms are large with nice furniture and always clean. It's also very quite there, no problems with sleeping.
Nicely located in Riga with short distance to everything. 5-10 minutes walk to supermarkets, old city, trainstation and more.
Staff was friendly but had some language problems. With some sign language everything could be solved.
Out clubbing one night and was not back until 4 a.m., rang the door bell to the right of the entrance and was let in 10 seconds later.
If I go back to Riga I would definitly choose this hotel again.
Best regards,
Kjetil/Trondheim/Norway

The BERGS Hotel in Riga wants to be a 5* "Small Luxury Hotel" at around € 300/night. But at this rating and price guest can expect real service - which isn't offered by the BERGS Hotel:

When we arrived we waited 5 minutes but nobody has shown up to bring our luggage inside, then I did it myself. Inside, at the reception, somebody was standing around to bring our luggage up. He left it in the corridore and only after asking he brought it to the second floor where the wardrobe was located.

Asking the receptionist for a guided city tour for my wife he answered: "all I can give you is a map".

When we wanted to go out for dinner (21:00) I asked to change some money, but the receptionist informed me that they don't do it. When I asked him to give me some cash and charge it to the room or to my credit card all I got was a "no". When asking how I would get some local cash he asked "nohow".

Finally we went to the high rated restaurant of the BERGS Hotel and luckily enough we got a table at the terrasse. We got the menu and were informed that they have a wide menu but that they're out of most dishes, namely ALL meat dishes and some fish dishes (at 21:00!!!). Well, we ordered something and I have to say it would have been better if everything would have been out: the food was tasteless, overcooked and just fatty.

Positive: room has guest toilet, WiFi Internet is free of charge, lage flat screen TV.

I can only recommend to stay and eat somewhere else!

Hotel Bergs is located fairly centrally in the smart Berga Bazaars shopping area in the new town. It's a fairly small 'boutique' hotel hidden behind the main street in it's own cobbled courtyard with a large tree in friont that was festooned in lights and upon arrival the whole thing looked absolutely fantastic!

It's a very smart, contemporary hotel and in our eyes absolutely gorgeous and the young, bright and intelligent staff were extremely efficient and helpful and gave excellent levels of service overall.

Excellent and spacious room, very smart and well layed out. Great breakfasts ferom the penthouse in the morning that set us up for the day.

Overall we found this to be an excellent hotel, beatifully designed, laid out and decorated, with genuinely friendly and helpful staff and for this we paid an unbelievable £60/night bed and breakfast - the same price as a dour Travelodge in the UK!

Maybe it depends on a room class, but in my room regular bottled water was free! Spend just one night so don't know if its replenished every day, but thing so, also on they're web site it says : ...kitchenette with complimentary selection of tea, coffee and mineral water, espresso machine...
