This was slightly further away from the old town than we'd hoped - 15 minutes walk, but it had the advantage of being in the art nouveau district, amongst some beautiful buildings. The walk into town along the canal was very relaxing. It also has the advantage of being 2 mins walk from Vincents, an absolutely fantastic restaurant.

It is beautifully done out (clean, very modern and new design), but the main problem for us was that our room was at the front of the building, which was extremely noisy. This meant that we could not open our windows, so it was stuffy (no air-con). I don't think this would have been a problem at the back, so definitely ask for a back room.

The breakfast was a 2 course set meal with bread which was delicious. You had to tell them the night before what time you wanted breakfast which we thought was a little odd.

It was excellent value at £55 per night, so I would recommend the hotel provided that you get a room at the back.

Stayed 1 night and organised all day workshop for 12.

Good points -
staff fantastic - nothing was too much trouble
size of room okay but very stylish with chic trendy decor
good location within walking distance of centre
meeting room was easy to use and overall hotel made smart professional impression.

Would go back and recommend to others.

Recently stayed in the Elizabetes Nams while in Riga on a stag weekend. Hotel is in a quiet area. Room was nice and most of the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was interesting to say the least and very different to what we're used to in Ireland anyway. Ensuite bathroom was fine but the shower was just a showerhead attached to the bath taps which you had to hold up yourself while showering. It was also the first bathroom I've been in with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
If you're planning on sampling the night life the hotel is a bit far away from Vecriga where most of the bars are located. If you're visiting for a more sedate sightseeing weekend then the location would be more suitable.

Location isn't exactly central (roughly 20 minutes walk from the center) but taxi in Riga come really cheap so in the end that should not be a big deal.

The staff is very kind and helpful and some of them (unfortunately I forgot the names) are the reason why I gave it a two rather than one.

The bad part was the room and the management. I ended up in an annex outside the hotel. The stairs that granted access to the room constantly smelled of cat pee. The room can be described at best as basic, since there where still holes in the walls and ceiling providing proofs that the room wasn't exactly ready to be occupied. There was no night table nor a phone, so I wasn't able to receive calls (or wake up calls) and any time I needed something I had to step out of the building to reach the reception in the one next door, which is not so nice when it rains.
I mentioned the above flaws to the desk and shortly after I was notified that the management didn't see any problem in it, which made me realize that "customer care" are two words with which the management isn't very familiar with.

Keeping in mind the management response, is unlikely that I can stay there again or suggest somebody to do so.

I stayed at Elizabetes this week. I would strongly recommend that you DON'T stay here.

My clients chose the hotel - I didn't.

They forgot to clean my room on the second day! By the time I got back to the room after all day meetings (around 5pm), I found the room uncleaned and went downstairs to complain. The poor receptionist had to clean my room because there were no cleaning staff left in the hotel. Dreadful!

They keep the front door of the hotel locked all day so you have to press an intercom button to get in - I had to wait 5 mins to get in because the receptionist wasn't at her desk to open the door!

There is NO elevator in the hotel so you have to carry your luggage up a winding staircase and there's NO bellboy to help. If you are older or cannot carry heavy bags, DON'T stay here.

There is no sign in the street indicating that it is a hotel!!!! Our taxi driver took forever looking for it.

ALL in ALL, an absolute NO GO choice. Avoid it if you can!!!!

Spacious, large, quiet, clean, attentive staff, nice area, restrained and tasteful decoration. Riga's not that cheap, but you get good quality for your money. Breakfast is inventive (courses rather than buffet or fry-up)
