Like people have said, it is not the best hotel BUT the staff are very friendly and the location is everything!!! Contrary to some reviews, we did have lots of hot water and they brought in a heater for us since it was cold and it worked great. The kitchen was broken when we were there so there was no breakfast, but they gave us a room discount and we had great breakfast around the corner at Big Bad Bagel. The beds were very low to the ground, but comfortable, and for being in old town, the location was actually very quiet.

Hotel have 5 stars, but I don't know why. We had business class room with one big bed, but the bed was with two separate pads and two bedsheets. TV not connected very good. Safe box not works. Room wasn't clean as it must be. Breakfast a little bit poor.

Staff friendly and speak in english, location very good.

Location is good. Breakfast is poor. Room was insufficiently clean.
Main problem was with a TV, after 30 min of working unexplained smoke went out of the TV.
No trouble signals occurred from fire alarm system. That was so dangerous!
Probably the system is not working. Looks like staff do not know what to do in such situations.

I recommend to check fire alarm system in this hotel.

The only positive thing about this hotel is it's location. Located in the center of the old town of Riga, close to many historical sites, musea, parks, bars and restaurants makes it convenient.
Bit that is realy where te positive vibe ends!
Unfriendly staff, no lights in the lobby, old-fashioned rooms. Breakfast is provided in your room, after filling out a form with your preferences the day before. But breakfast comes half hour too early, eggs are cold, no salt and pepper, no spoon to eat your oat-meal. You only get one cup of coffee. There is a phone in the room, but no list of internal phone numbers. So I tried dialing 1, got a ring-tone but no answer!
Summary of it all: DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!

Does any want to reserve and travel to A hotel in Riga with No hot water????????????

 · Location was fabulous, except many nearby bars and restaurants hire bands , that play loud outside music begining at 18:00/19:00 until 23:00;

 · No hot water, no one gavę us noticed that during our your three day stay will be no hot water! We cancelled our next two days. No hot water!!!!!! No showers, baths, etc. If notice gived, we would never have stayed at all. We discovered the No hot water the first morning. We also wanted some money for giving us A major discount or the room for the first night. The reception said He had not authority.
He called the Manager. The reception said No other emplyees at the hotel except him. The Manager was in another country. We left.
Another receptionist when we checked in wanted three days payment. Insisted on it. So we paid for three days without bring told No hot water!!!!!
This hot iš bad. Very bad.

Got diverted to this place but never got notice. I originally booked in the Garden Palace which...turns out is closed for renovation. Internet works intermittently and when I asked about it at the front desk I got a shoulder shrug. TV has 7 stations...3 of which work. No coffee in the room. Dated & tired decor. Shower curtain is grotty. I would skip this place.

Reading previous reviews I must admit to being apprehensive, to put it mildly. However, on arrival these fears were dismissed immediately. We were a family group of 10 and stayed here from 20th - 22nd of July.
Rooms were immaculate and all staff were very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic location close to all amenities in the heart of old town.
I’m delighted to say that our experience here was everything we needed and could have asked for

Worst experience in a hundreds of travels. Please be advised that the new policy of the new ownership is to literally throw out guests. Absolutely negative. I booked this Hotel in December for 4 days, I've been there before many times since it's well located in Old town. The day after my arrival the Hotel has been invaded by a security agency and I've been forced to leave Hotel in one hour.As declared later by employes, when I've already packed my luggage with rush, and confirmed by local newspapers the change of property/management (that happened in a bad way) decided to close the HOTEL.Even the famous concertist Vanesa Meja that had a concert that night has been moved as confirmed by newspaper that tolds about owner change. Before that I pack my lugagge they proposed me an accomodation in an Hotel nearby, later they moved me to TALLINK hotel, located outside Old town. They told me about a reduced fare while it's nothing less than the official Tallink fare which is far and with smaller room. I complained about it and they sent to my room a bottle of wine which I promptly refused feeling it as inadeguate and arrogant behaviour. I travel 20 times a year and I've never experienced anything like this. Rooms and poisition could be nice but Please BE ADVISED that the new policy of the new ownership is to literally throw out guests. The security agency didn't even let me wait for taxi inside the Hotel.Worst experience in a hundreds of travels

If you are reading this, chances are you do your homework before booking a hotel like I do. I had stumbled across this hotel while trying to figure out what hotel to book for my stay in Riga. The reviews were so nice and felt I had the information I needed to confirm I wanted to give them a chance. Well, I can say that I am a believe in everything people have said and I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel in every aspect. I loved it. I sat here for a few minutes staring at the computer screen wondering if there is anything i can fault but I got nothing. You will love that you are smack right in the middle of the old town. The breakfast is spot on. The staff is there at all hours. You are surrounded by top notch restaurants as well as tons of shops. I definitely recommend this hotel. Actually, if you are debating on any other hotels, don't. Trust me on this. You wont be disappointed.
