Perfectly located at walking distance from the old city centre, some 10 minutes through the calm of the kronvalda park and you cross the city wall to the cathédral. And just around the corner y ou have the buty of alberta street and its art nouveau buildings. Easy to reach from the airport, the shuttlebus stops in front of the Albert hôtel which is at 5 minutes. Nice and good rooms with airco - yes it may be hot in summer - and good service. The lady running The hotel is attentive and helpful. Surely good value for money. Will come back here when in Riga.

Location was good, although the parking in Riga center is bit of a challenge! It was interesting that there was no curtain in the bathroom as well as no shower gel?!? Wifi, when it worked, had a good speed! Breakfast was OK.

I liked the location, which is not in the old town but you can easily go there by tram or bus or just take a nice walk along Riga's parks. The breakfast in the hotel is served from 7:30 to 9:30 and has a selection of cheese and ham along with bread. One can choose between scrambled eggs and porridge. There are less options for cereals. The staff has been really nice and helpful.

The room itself has been basic and mostly clean. I realised that when cleaning the room, they mostly just exchanged the towels and made the bed, so they did not always take out the bin for example. It was still pretty clean and if you don't mind these minor details, you get a good value for the prize.

+ Good internet connection (for free)
+ Nice and helpful staff

- No minibar
- No restaurant (only breakfast available)

Awful hotel. Dirty in the rooms. The real shock was when I discovered in my bed a flock of bed-bugs! This is a vile and disgusting! Avoid this hotel! Service is horrible! The staff doesn't help out and blames bed-bugs I brought self.
THIS IS THE MOST HORRIBLE SIGHT THAT I ONCE SAW!

Nice location. friendly staff. And that's it. Owners are selling single rooms as doubles in the high seasons, seems like they are saving money on everything - renovations, heaters, bed textiles. No promissed parking, weak wifi, and so on.
Next time i will choose a hotel nearby.

This hotel has two locations near one another. I stayed at the one on Dzirnavu Street. The hotel is nice, the management is terrible. Bottles of fresh water were put in my room each day, which I thought was a lovely touch, until I learned upon check out that I was charged for the water -- double the price had I bought them myself! Also, my university had negotiated for meals to be included, because the restaurant at the hotel is considered quite good. But the meals that were included were not the meals on the menu. And, they were terrible. I discussed these issues with the owner directly, who told me to pay the full bill and she would consider these issues for the future! Discussing these issues with her left a terrible feeling I had been taken advantage of.

The hotel uses a scam. I was made to pay for the room as soon as I arrived and only then was told that there had been an "overbooking". I was sent to another hotel which was more than 2 times cheaper. I didn't have to pay for the another hotel but I was refused bluntly to receive back my money I overpaid. I have received no answer to my claims from the hotel.

This hotel is not recommended for English only speaking travellers.

The staff do not make the effort to understand queries placed in English.

Room was not cleaned once in a week long stay & towels never changed. After prepaying online with hotels.com and forwarding my booking, the manager tried to claim we didn’t pay the morning of check out. She refused to look at our booking confirmation and tried to make us pay the full amount again. She physically blocked us from leaving and tried to cancel our taxi resulting in us nearly missing our flight. We had to pay an additional €100 for an ‘upgrade’ that was never discussed before she would let us leave. This was pretty ambiguous as the room we received as a twin as booked.

There is also a rediculous buzzer system where you need to call the managers mobile to be let in the outside door. This meant we were often left outside waiting for her to answer her phone for several minutes. One evening she refused to let us in which left us baffled and out in the rain or more then half an hour. She had to come and let us in and insisted we had used the buzzer incorrectly. However we did as we had done every other time that week.

Overall I wouldn’t reccomend the venue to anyone that isn’t a local to Latvia.
