Mystery Hotel Budapest garners high praise for its spotless rooms and meticulous attention to cleanliness, with many travelers enchanted by the whimsical and luxurious atmosphere. The stylish and quirky decor of the spacious rooms is frequently commended, although a few guests find the lighting somewhat dim. While the central location earns accolades for convenience, opinions on value are split; visitors appreciate the hotel's amenities yet some consider dining and certain services to be on the expensive side. The spa is a tranquil highlight, though it's suggested that more space could enhance the experience during busy periods. Hospitality at Mystery Hotel is top-notch, with the staff's friendliness and professionalism standing out in guest reviews.

Stayed in the same room as in the photograph. Slightly quirky touches with the wardrobes set back into the wall behind plush red curtains. The room was on the 7th floor with the train station opposite but very little noice from the trains. The roof terrace was also on this floor and thus would be lovely in the warmer months. That said there was a lovely view from the terrace of the buildings light up.
The interior of the hotel was lovely and the dining room/cocktail bar proved an ideal place to wind down after a busy day before retiring for the night. Excellent relaxing atmosphere. We only dined here on one evening and although the meal was a little expensive, the food was well worth the money. Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice of cooked or continental.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient..
Bedrooms and all areas of the hotel were very clean and seemed well maintained.
The decor in the lifts was very unusual.
Although not directly in the town centre we used an Uber for all of our trips and the prices of these were very reasonable compared to the exorbitant prices of the local taxis.

We stayed in the Mystery Hotel for four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. The location of the hotel is slightly out of the city centre and away from the noise and crowds. But to my mind this is a real advantage. If you are prepared to walk for twenty minutes or so, which we did mainly to justify the food that the city has to offer, this is fine. Though the public transport system is so good that there is really no need to walk if you don't want to. Then there is the hotel building itself. This is a beautiful period building with every amenity you could want. It is spotlessly clean and the interior design takes your breath away. Eating the beautifully presented breakfast in the Great Hall is an experience in itself. We would recommend this hotel to anyone as a base to explore beautiful Budapest and have a pampered relaxing time between explorations.

We stayed at the Mystery Hotel for a few days when visiting Budapest in late November. Chose it virtually at random from the seemingly endless hotel options in the city and it was a great choice.

Firstly location - pretty central but importantly sufficiently distanced from the heaving tourist areas that it's quite quiet. The no. 72 trolley bus from the street outside the hotel takes you straight to places like the Basilica or the Szechenyi baths. It's two minutes from the central railway station so ideal if you're arriving by train.

Hotel decor is quirky and creative but very nice - the pictures on the walls move - but it's all very smart and feels high quality. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful (and all speak really good English) with advice on things like how best to reach the Ruin Pubs.

Food and drink is served in the very stylish great hall. We didn't eat a main meal there but breakfast was very good (tip - ask one of the waiting staff to bring you a latte rather than using the slightly slow coffee machine) .

Always a bit hesitant to comment on hotel rooms because they can vary so widely depending on what you go for but ours was their Superior room and was plenty big enough, spotlessly clean and quirkily decorated.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would very much recommend.

We booked the Mystery Hotel Budapest expecting a true 5-star experience, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The rooms are furnished with low-quality furniture, with wardrobes covered by cheap curtains instead of proper doors. The paintings appear to have a neoclassical style at first glance, but they are nothing more than low-quality printed poor replicas without any proper frames.
One of the worst aspects was the heating system, which is turned off by the reception during the night to save energy, leaving us waking up cold. Additionally, even something as simple as a tea bag from the room was charged separately. The reception is staffed by only one person at a time, which is far from the level of service expected from a supposed luxury hotel.
The hotel is, at best, a 3.5-star establishment. The location is also a major downside – far from the train station, in a dark and unattractive street. I booked it due to its supposed Masonic theme, but even that was barely represented.
The only thing truly impressive about this hotel is its marketing and photography team—the images online are nowhere close to reality. I would never recommend this hotel.

Dear Claudia, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and apologise for the aspects that caused disappointment. Our rooms were designed by an award-winning interior designer to create a cozy and atmospheric ambiance, and most of our guests appreciate the unique style. However, we regret that the design did not align with your personal preferences. We are truly sorry to hear that you experienced discomfort with the heating system during your stay. Had you informed our team, they would have immediately adjusted the settings to ensure your comfort. Our staff is always available to assist with any requests to enhance your stay. We understand your concern about the location. While the hotel may feel slightly away from the central attractions, the city's heart is accessible within 15 minutes by public transportation, making it convenient for guests who want to explore. As the hotel is housed in the original Freemasons' palace from 1896, many guests find its historic charm to be a highlight of their stay. We strive to represent this heritage throughout the hotel, but we understand that expectations may vary. We hope for the opportunity to welcome you back in future and provide a more satisfactory experience. Best regards, András Horváth, General Manager

The hotel ticked all our boxes and both met and exceeded our expectations. All the staff were most helpful, including allowing us to borrow dressing gowns, slippers and towels for our visit to the famous Szechenyi Baths. It is served well by public transport and having the Spa 'in-house' was an added bonus. We had dinner in the Great Hall on the first evening and were only sorry for the chef and waiting staff that there were not more people enjoying the excellent fare. Breakfast each morning was a wonderful start to the day, having a wide and varied selection of both hot and cold dishes, topped off with a glass of 'bubbles'! I would not hesitate in returning, if I was returning to this wonderful city.

This really is an outstanding hotel on the outskirts of the centre.
The walk to the centre is flat and easy so it's nice to see other parts of Pest that you wouldn't see staying on the river banks.
Hotel is immaculately decorated and spotlessly clean.
Rooms are very large, comfy and cleaned to a very high standard.
Staff are very happy to accommodate your needs and point things out that you may not know about Pest.
The spa in the secret garden is a nice place to unwind from all the walking.
I would highly recommend this Hotel for a visit and give it a solid 10/10

This hotels is contained within a beautiful building. The rooms are very luxurious and the attention to detail lovely. The rooms theme is sadly let down by the picture of the girl with a pearl earring holding a mobile phone, hanging behind the bed.
The spa was disappointing. Felt very uncomfortable by the behaviour of some guests. Some things are best done in the bedroom and not the sauna.
Dining was very expensive and just be careful that you get charged 10% service charge for every time a waitress/waiter comes to your table. Good food choices at buffet style breakfast.
The hotel is further out from the centre. Be mindful that the hop on buses stop running at 17:00; so if you don’t fancy the long walk you would need to get a taxi.
The reception staff are friendly and helpful.

Dear Maria, Thank you for sharing your detailed review with us. We appreciate your positive remarks about our building, luxurious rooms, and attentive staff. It’s wonderful to know that the attention to detail in the design and the breakfast buffet added to your experience. We are deeply sorry that your spa experience was affected by the behavior of other guests. Your comfort and well-being are paramount to us, and we will review our spa policies and monitoring to ensure a more respectful and relaxing environment for everyone. Concerning the dining charges, we clarify that the 10% service charge is standard and applied once per dining bill rather than per interaction. This is an opulently furnished and decorated hotel with some eccentric, but imaginative and tastefully presented touches. Having stayed in many 5 star hotels over the years, we have seldom come across any with such incredible attention to detail throughout the property.
The service is friendly and efficient. We were particularly impressed by Timea and Ferenc who were really helpful and caring when we required some assistance with a medical issue.
The hotel is also very well located for a good variety of restaurants within walking distance and its proximity to tourist attractions.
All in all - faultless and exceptional !

I recently had the privilege of staying at the Mystery Hotel Budapest, and the experience was spectacular. The hotel exudes a captivating blend of historical elegance and contemporary luxury, ensuring every moment is unforgettable.

But what truly made my stay special was the exemplary service, notably from Andras at the reception. His dedication, meticulous attention, and genuine friendliness ensured that all my needs were catered to with precision and warmth. Whether it was guidance about the city's sights or addressing room-related queries, Andras was always on hand to assist, adding a personal touch to my stay.

The accommodations were both spacious and pristine, furnished with high-quality amenities that showcased the hotel's dedication to guest satisfaction.

Its central location is also a boon for visitors, offering easy access to the city's main attractions and a variety of dining options, all within walking distance.

To conclude, Mystery Hotel Budapest truly stands out as a gem in the heart of the city. Its perfect blend of historical charm, modern luxury, and unparalleled service, especially from Andras, makes it a top choice for travelers in Budapest.

Wholeheartedly recommend!

Beautifully appointed Hotel, absolutely superb staff who are an absolute credit to their employers , they ALL delivered a quality of service above and beyond .Extremely clean with quirky decor which has a modern twist . A short 15-20min walk to the main attractions , however the transportation system is very close and efficient . For farther afield use the BOLT taxis ( like) Uber very quick and cost effective via the app. The Grand Hall is a delightful location for morning breakfast , a more than sufficient choice of eateries are available . The roof top terrace extremely pleasant with great views , a little bit pricey so be prepared . Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a base for a city break .

No tax or resort fee was charged however reception will make a charge to your debit /credit card to cover internal purchases that are charged to your room. Ensure that you present your card on departure to have this charge taken off and you will get a receipt. If your purchases are less than the charge taken this will also be sorted out at time of departure.
