Slovenian House Vida surely is something out of the ordinary. Although it is located some 5km away from the downtown Ljubljana, it's very close to the Freeway ring, and very easy accessible from anywhere by car. The building itself used to be an old factory, which was recently totally rebuilt from the inside out and now hosts one of the best contemporary small hotel in Ljubljana. Rooms are bright and very neatly decorated, equipped with just about anything you need. My personal favorite however is their wine cellar that is remarkably and breathtakingly impeccable decorated. Altogether, the whole place has an especially charming mixture of rustical artefacts and ultra-modern amenities. Hence, I live in Ljubljana I do not usually stay in its hotels. This however was a very special occasion as I had some business partners visiting our firm from overseas, so I had decided to stay in the Slovenian House Vida instead of driving home to the other part of the city where I live very late at night after several bottles of Slovenian vine. It was a quite unique experience and I must admit that from now on, we intend to host our business guests in Slovenian House Vida instead of somewhere else. Atop of all that, their room rates are very competitive at 60€ per room per night, which is significantly less than we normally pay elsewhere.

Great place to stay. Quiet (despite our room being on a street) and clean adequately supplied rooms. Staff is quite helpful and very friendly. Country living because it is on the edge of Ljubljana, corn crops and barnyard smells. Ample parking off the street. Breakfast is included in the “cellar” - very quaint and cosy. The only problem we had was on check-in. Although the office was scheduled to be open, it wasn’t and had a number to call. Unfortunately we didn’t have a phone so had to ask one of the tenants to call which he kindly did. Bus # 14 stops about 100 meters down the road and will take you right down to the town center. On our last morning we left really early and our hostess made sure the kitchen was open so we could have breakfast before we left. Definitely recommend staying here.

My husband and I have just returned from a 7 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time! We used the hotel as a base whilst travelling around Slovenia, really great location not far from the highways however still a nice easy drive or bus ride into the centre of Ljubljana. The staff at Slovenian House were all lovely and so helpful from the moment we arrived! Breakfast was good each morning in the authentic Slovenian wine cellar downstairs, always fresh and plentiful. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable! Thank you for a great stay, Mel and James x

Staff was so very helpful - offered many suggestions on things to do in the area, restaurants to try, hiking and site seeing activities, etc. Nice breakfast offered in the morning. Apartment was updated and offered additional space to enjoy with a small patio as well. Highly recommend!

We drove from Budapest to Ljubliana and arrived pretty late (7.30pm) without reservation. (We had planned to arrive to Ljubliana one date later, therefore we had no room booked for that night). Even though the hotel had no available rooms. Tamara (I think that was her name) from the front desk really helped us out, she called various hotels until she finally found us one room available room. We did stop by other hotels before this one and no other front desk employee was as polite and helpful as she was.

Great place, room and and very friendly staff. The location is great if you are exploring Slovenia by car, with Ljubljana as base, it is in the middle of farmland, 6.5 km to center of the city. Bikes for hire!

I like smaller hotels/guesthouses that are relatively new and located outside of the city centre. This hotel/pension is located in a little village about 10 minutes drive from downtown Ljubljana. Shortly after arriving I took my dog for an awesome walk along a country road that had amazing views of the mountains, lots of agricultural fields and plenty of farmhouses. Perfect!!

The rooms are spotlessly clean as is the rest of the place. Its in an old building (a former factory) that has been really nicely remodelled. The breakfast is in the dining room in the cellar and its a very cool old room. Breakfast itself was pretty good.

The best part is the people that work there. Exceptional!! Young and enthusiastic about what they do and they make you feel genuinely welcome. Totally helpful and also will engage in extremely interesting conversations about their country.

If you are expecting the Hilton or the Hyatt, this is not the place for you. Its also a really good idea to have a car while staying there.

WAYYYY highly recommended. This was my 3rd time in Ljubljana and from now on I will ALWAYS stay at SLOVENIAN HOUSE VIDA.

Many thanks to everyone there for a great stay.

The guesthouse is located somewhere on the outskirts, but it is a bus stop 1 minute walk, which takes you right to the center. Very friendly staff, the guesthouse is clean but very bad smell of cow dung. The room was right on the street, pretty cool, the internet does not work anywhere. The pillows were the worst encountered.

Hello Magdalena! It depends on what you want to explore. The city centre is a little far, but it is not expensive, with taxi it's about 7€ one way/ bus stop is 100 m from our House Vida. The location that we have is great because it is close to motorway so you can go to motorway to Bled in two minutes with a car.
