Meksiko is a mid-range hotel but where the room was very large and well cleaned with plenty of seating and comfortable beds. However, the rating is dragged down by a substandard breakfast in an extremely small and cramped dining room. The reception also closes at nine in the evening.

The good news is the staff is solicitous and often kind. From Manager Matjaz, the clerks, including friendly Katherina and Katya, helpful Doris and her kid brother Denis, a smart college freshman who helped me a lot with directions. The room was good sized, bathroom with a good shower and lots of closet and drawers space TV had CNN and many channels. However, no safe in the room, no toiletries, except soap and shower gel, so I used my own shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was okay. Rolls, scrambled eggs, cold cuts and sausage. OJ didn't work. No phone in the room, but Matjaz found one and installed it. The main problem for me: I like a hotel in the center of the tourist area. The hotel says it is 10 minutes walk from Old Town. Maybe if you're speed walking. At a decent pace it took me 15 minutes to the edge of the Old Town, with not much activity, and another 10 to the true center, Preseren Square, a beautiful array of buildings, along the river, in view of the castle. Actually near the hotel are only a few restaurants, coffee bar and apartments, but if you happen to fall ill, or have a heart attack there's a big hospital conveniently located next door. Even leaving was a problem. I was dropped off on a street to a strip a bit of a distance from the hotel. So, that's where I waited and waited for the taxi. Finally, I went back to the hotel, where they said taxi pick ups were at the the side walkway. Who knew? Matjaz kindly helped me find it, carrying some of my bags.

Stayed here with a friend in September. We were visiting Ljubljana for the Northern Ireland v Slovenia football match. We stayed for 3 nights. The price was reasonable. The room, while small, was very clean and comfortable. A mini fridge was included which was handy for storing water. Our room was on the second floor and looked out on to a concrete wall but the view did not matter. We had breakfast one morning which cost €8 each. It was basic but perfectly edible and suitable for travellers on a budget. The hotel is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Three Bridges area where all the bars, cafes and nightlife is. It’s also about a 10 minute from walk the bus station. The hotel is adjacent to a large hospital so there are always people in the area. Any staff we encountered were very helpful. The reception is not 24/7. It closes at night and you have an access code to get inside. Would happily recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Ljubljana. There is a pharmacy and a supermarket also on the block for supplies.

We read the reviews, expected some faults but experienced none. We stayed in room 305 (facing the back of the hotel) and we didn't hear a sound.
The staff were great. Reception staff were brilliant . Customer service online through Booking were a credit to the hotel and the staff during breakfast were hardworking and helpful.
Wifi was great. The rooms were cleaned regularly. All staff here work really hard.
We are a family that can walk fast and in the Summer heat it only took us 10 minutes to walk to the old town at a snails pace so the location speaks for itself.
It also has a supermarket on its doorstep.
We loved this city and we will recommend to our family and friends to stay here in Hotel Meksiko. That speaks for itself.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The word that comes to mind to describe it is dirty. We found invoices and receipts from previous guests dating back to January in the room, we were there in August. The carpet was full of crumbs, the bathrooms with mold and scale. In the two days we spent there they only changed towels and emptied the bins. But they didn't even make the bed. There was no carpet to get out of the shower. The furniture was loose. In my parents' room the air conditioning and the fan in the bathroom didn't work. We asked to change rooms and were immediately satisfied, with a room that lacked a mini bar, but you can't have everything in life. The hotel is quite close to the centre, but overlooks the emergency room of the hospital, so it was definitely not quiet, especially when the helicopter landed. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful but they alone cannot save our experience

We were in room 121 and walking in, we were really wowed by it. It was huge, modern, had a small kitchen and dining area, and a nice bathroom. A big tv, fridge and safe. So we were ready to love it.
It was only later that we found a couple of problems. Firstly, the sound insulation in this room was awful. We think it was because of the door to the adjoining room. We could hear everything in the corridor and in the next room. We could hear loud snoring as if our neighbour was in the same room as us! Luckily they went to bed and got up at much the same time as we did. My husband had earplugs too. Also, it was a good thing that we had eyeshades with us as there was no curtain for the window in the kitchenette area, directly across from the bed.
The kitchenette was great but it didn’t have any pots or pans and no kettle so there was no way of making tea or coffee (although there were teabags). There was crockery and cutlery though.
When we were checking out, the gentleman on reception asked if everything was okay with our stay so we mentioned the sound problem and the missing curtain. He apologised and said that a curtain was on order for the room and that they would look into the noise issue. So perhaps by the time you read this, it may not be an issue any more.
It’s not the prettiest part of town but is right next to an Aldi supermarket (which is handy if you’re making use of the kitchenette) and our room looked out on to a hospital emergency department.
About 15 minutes walk to town and same to train and bus stations.
We didn’t try the breakfast.

I spent two nights in this hotel and I had a great time. We had a superior double room (couple and child) : it looked like a suite .. large with living area and various usable spaces. The center is easily accessible on foot. Discreet breakfast, it would be good to add sweets. The only drawback: small reception and staff not present in the evening (at 21.45) there was no one. You can access however with a code at any time. Esperienzs however positive!!

I had read some reviews so was a little concerned. The hotel is very close to the hospital. I looked out my window and faced the hospital but i did not have noise issues. The room was large and modern. The breakfast was fine. The only thing to consider, there is no lobby. I got to ljubljana at 7 am after taking an overnight bus from split in croatia. Reception were happy to take my luggage until check in at 2pm. It would have been nice if there was an airconditioned hotel lobby to esacpe the heat, have a drink or use the bathroom. So if i arrived the same time again I would consider booking elsewhere. If arriving closer to 2pm i would book it again. It was not far from the bus station or old town.

Good only the location 15 minutes walk from the center. Room cleaning just sufficient. Dusty and dirty wall mirror. Lack of electrical outlets near bedside tables. In the bathroom non-working fan and not even a glass where you can put your toothbrushes. Breakfast almost nonexistent in fact, although it was included in the price, we went out to make it elsewhere. Listless girl at reception. We're not coming back.

I was here for a 1 night stay. Upon arrival, there was no receptionist available, and the main door was closed. I called, and I was told to wait for another 40 minutes. As I booked the room only 1 hour prior to arrival through an external website, they told me that that was the problem, and I have been able to book though that site for the same night. Anyway, the receptionist was very apologetic and friendly. He upgraded my room to a double room, as compensation for the wait. The assigned room was not cleaned. I was appointed another room (this happened within a minute): it turned out that there was trash in one of the closets. Subsequently I was offered another room (also this went super fast). That final room was very hot (26,7 °C/80 °F). Turning down the heat didn't change anything, so I slept with the window open (i didn't feel like complaining anymore, to move to a 4th room). There were also some ants walking around the bathroom.
All in all, with all the aforementioned issues, the stay was ok. Very silent, comfortable bed, the final room was clean (except for the ants), and they had super friendly and helpful staff. If it wasn't for the confusion of which rooms were cleaned and which ones not, I would have graded one point higher.
Even having gone through all the issues, I would use the hotel again. Partially because they are very fairly priced.

Honestly, the traveler above has a more complete answer than I can give! We mostly toured in the day and crashed at night (except for football, like you).
There are more places to choose from in the Ljubljana area.
