We had a 'Comfort' room. The bed was indeed very comfortable but could only be accessed from one side. The tiny room had a small bathroom with only a curtain for privacy and glass toilet walls. Weird! Clean room but sour milk left in fridge.
I suggest any couple will realy need one of the larger, more expensive rooms.
Breafast was excellent.
The reception on arrival was very poor indeed but the situation was rescued completely by the Australian lady at breakfast, her lady assistant and the new manager Juryj. He went above and beyond by taking us all the way to the Sixt care hire depot at the train station. He even carried most of our luggage for more than 800m. First class service which was such a contrast to our first impressions. Thank you, we will always be grateful as I am not sure we could have done it alone.

Dear Geoff and Ruth, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We appreciate your honest assessment and are pleased to hear that you found the bed in your 'Comfort' room very comfortable, albeit noting the accessibility issue from one side. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the bathroom layout and the presence of sour milk in the fridge. Your comments regarding the room size and amenities are duly noted, and we understand your suggestion for couples seeking more spacious accommodations. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our excellent breakfast offerings. Additionally, we deeply appreciate your kind words regarding the exceptional service provided by our team members. It's heartwarming to know that their efforts made such a positive impact on your experience, from resolving the initial reception issue to personally assisting with your transportation and luggage needs. Your gratitude and recognition mean a lot to us, and we are delighted to have exceeded your expectations with our first-class service. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and for choosing to stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay in the future. Warm regards, Jurij

We stayed for 2 nights in the Vander hotel and it was exactly what we needed to be able to enjoy Ljubljana.

The rooms were functional, with good beds and a TV.
The Location was exceptional and never a 10 minute walk away from any of the major attractions.
Breakfast was amazing, with pastries, bread, fruit etc. and a choice of dishes to order like bacon, eggs, crepes and avocado toast.
The Rooftop pool is very small but refreshing after a long, hot day and there are plenty of sun loungers to relax on as well.
Minor cons - service from staff was variable throughout our stay, €20 deposit fee for umbrellas, which we felt was unnecessary.

Overall, a great hotel and a great city!

Incredible hotel stay. We arrived very early in the morning after a difficult night train where we didn’t have seats - the reception staff were so kind and allowed us to use the pool while we waited for our room and gave us towels and toiletries so we could shower after the train! The room was comfortable and trendy, the whole hotel had a very cool vibe! The included breakfast was fantastic and included several options of hot and cold food. The bar was good and the area is very lively at night. The hotel is very central (only 10-15 min walk from the train station). Would absolutely stay here again for the reason that the staff go above and beyond to look after their guests!

Although in a great location, our stay at Vander Urbani was a disaster. Our shower was unusable because it didn't drain and would flood the room if left on for more than a minute. We were given a key to another room to use the shower on a different floor, and then when it was occupied were told to use the rooftop pool shower. We were told it had been fixed, but it wasn't and the staff refused to come up and look at it. Our shower also had no light in it so couldn't use it after dark. I was told this was the "design" of the hotel. Also, whenever we turned on the sink faucet, water poured out from under the sink. Although they provided an after hours number to call for emergencies, no one ever answered between the hours of 9:00pm and 7:00am. I was promised by the front reception manager that I would not be charged the full balance for the $300/night room until the general manager and I had worked out a fair discount for the inconvenience. Never heard back from him, and they charged the full amount. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

After some research, we decided on the Vander restaurant on New Year's Eve, January 1st - mainly because of the really good reviews. How it got so good reviews is a mystery to me!!! One of the 2 waiters took our order - 9 people - in a very cold and unmotivated manner. The starter was still reasonably good and edible. But that was it! The main course was a complete disaster! The rib eye steak was almost raw, streaked with fat, tough and inedible! The sauce was a thick, fat floury poplar! The side dishes like kohlrabi and risotto were also anything but tasty! The risotto as the main course had a pickled anchovy on top that looked anything but fresh...
The other dishes didn't look much better either! After the meal, Leann had another sip of Remy Martin for €10 to avoid an upset stomach the next day! When paying, things got exciting again! It's not possible to bill 3 families separately?! Well then we suggest dividing the 495€ by 9 people - so everyone can multiply the 55€ by the respective number of people! For me with 4 people then 220€ The next surprise - card payment is not possible now because there is 1 bill for 495€ and this is not possible with 3 separate payments! So everyone has to pay in cash then! The communication was very unfriendly - a real customer defense service!!! There is a sign outside with Gault Milllau 2021 ?????
The owners and staff have probably changed in the meantime! How good reviews come about here is a mystery to me! One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had, and I travel a lot for business.
On top of that, coupled with unfriendliness and demotivation and incompetence...

Sad to say but this hotel did not live up to expectations. It was in a great location & the staff super friendly & helpful. Our room, although tiny, was clean, comfortable & stylish. The same goes for the bathroom which again was tiny but well equipped with a decent “rain shower,” magnifying mirror & lovely fluffy towels. We definitely appreciated the kettle, teapot etc in the bedroom.

I have two major negatives with the hotel.
1) The room was TINY, & with two large suitcases, we found it very cramped. The bathroom is also very small, it has one small hook for towels & nowhere to put your wash things & is not particularly private if you are travelling with a friend.
2) The restaurant while looking promising was a huge disappointment. The food that was good was delicious but they let themselves down hugely a couple of times…..I’m gluten free & when I asked if I could replace the fregola (couscous) with potatoes I was told I would have to pay extra. The meal description was chicken portion with fregola, cabbage & bacon & I assumed the cabbage & bacon would be on the plate. NO! It literally was a plate with potatoes & a chicken joint - nothing else! If I hadn’t asked for the potatoes it would have been just a chicken joint I guess! What chef worth his/her salt sends out a plate like that? Where’s the pride? Would they like to be served that? I had to ask for a side of veggies & was told I would also have to pay extra for that! At breakfast I chose scrambled eggs (which were delicious) with a side of market greens as I can’t eat the bread & croissants. What were the greens? A small glass containing a couple of sticks of cucumber & a couple of sticks of carrot. SO disappointed.
I'm not sure I would stay again.

Dear, we appreciate and thank you for your feedback. We apologize that you found the room that you have booked was smaller than you expected. Regarding the restuarant services, we apologize that we were unable to cater to your needs better, without having to charge you extra. However, the menus are predetermined and not a lot of reserved food is ordered as a way to avoid food waste. We still are sorry about the inconvenience. We hope to see you again in the future. Vander Boutique Hotel has probably the best location to discover Ljubljana and to see the great views. The hotel is stylishly decorated. The reception staff was friendly. The small roof top pool was a real experience in the summer. Breakfast was a la carte and the service started only at 8am what is quite late for people travelling. It also take quite a while to get the breakfast dishes that were quality wise good. Small attention to the details would make the experience even better and improve the price -value.

A poor welcome got us off to a bad start. I didn't get to finish speaking before the grumpy blunt man on reception told me check in is at 3pm; put your suitcases up there. No offer to help and no receipt ticket. Room 26 was comfortable and had a good view across the river, however, the wi-fi service was erratic and only certain spots in the room gave any connection which was extremely irritating. Breakfast the first morning was very poor, service very slow and although it was only 9.15am there was not enough bread and croisant for two of us. The coffee was nearly all froth and luke warm. The breakfast fiasco continued , day two was even worse, 45 minutes wait for one omelette and a granola, despite asking what was delaying them we got no response, we gave up and went without. Day three and two omelettes ordered, a ham and a cheese when they arrived the ham one was seriously tainted by cheese from the other, obviously cross contamination. We complained and were told there were two unsupervised 18 year old lads in the kitchen cooking breakfast. We met with a deputy manager and politely but firmly complained after which things greatly improved, apologies received and a token gesture of a chocolate cake provided. It was a shame as the hotel is well situated, hopefully the manager will sort matters out quickly.

The hotel is super hip and located centrally in old town. The breakfast is amazing you can order what you want off their delicious menu and they provide croissants, bread and coffee in addition to the food choices on the menu. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were personable and professional. The restaurant has great ambiance and the food quality and deliciousness exceeded my expectations. It was rainy and cold when I visited so I didn’t get to swim in the tiny rooftop infinity pool but it’s cute and you have a nice view. I would definitely stay here again it was a very good experience!

We stayed in a junior suite with a river view for 3 nights. The location is great, right in the middle of things, but you can still sleep peacefully. The room is modern and big enough, but... since the hotel probably had to fit into an old building, the toilet and shower are not separate, but part of the room through glass walls and curtains. If you sit on the toilet, you have to be aware that your partner can hear everything. You have to like that. There are also little things missing, such as enough hooks for jackets, bathrobes (there is a small pool on the roof) and for towels. You have to hang everything somewhere over chairs and tables. The air conditioning works great. Conclusion: It's OK for a short stay, the staff are friendly, the location is great, the restaurant is great.

Dear Marie, there is a garage near by. We suggest 2 of them because of their proximity to the hotel. One of them is a city garage and the cost is 40 EUR per day and the other one is a garage that is in the Union hotel and the charge is 20 EUR per day, both of them are about 8 min walking distance from our hotel. We do not have any arangment with neither so you pay there directly. We can only offer you a small electric car to come and pick you up from the garage. The service is available from 8:00-20:00, every day. Just give us a call at the reception and we will send one. Kind regards from Vander

Dear Mr. Adrian, Please allow us to thank you on your shown interest for Vander Urbani Resort. Allow us to suggest the best underground parking garage available near the hotel. It is called Parkirna hisa Subiceva (PH Subiceva). We would like to inform you that we are located in the very heart and soul of Ljubljana which is a pedestrian zone only. We can organize a free transfer for you from garage to our hotel with electric car. All you have to do is give us a call 15 minutes before your arrival. With kindest regards,
