Breakfast had good variety of local specoialities and was served with genuine hospitality. Standard double room was small for two adults for five nights, possibly intended for one person only. The room was very quiet, only the airconditioning made some noise. One lamp in the staircase was broken upon arrival. The staff went to see it after I informed the receptionist about the problem, but the lamp was still broken last morning of our stay. The staff gave an impression that they tried their very best, though.

Lovely, small hotel in the centre of Ljubljana. We had reserved one of the parking spaces in front (an extra charge) before our stay. Room was comfortable and quiet and breakfast was great fun with a blackboard menu and/or a buffet, with many of the ingredients labelled with their producer's name (eg, a farm). Staff were very welcoming and helpful with loading the app for the front door, which is locked at 10pm. With no staff on site overnight the app is an insurance in case you forget/lose your key. For us, Hotel Mrak was a perfect base for our sight-seeing on our first visit to Ljubljana.

Spent 5 nights here over two stays on each end of my trip to Slovenia. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Location was terrific, a couple blocks to the pedestrian only zone in old town, and just a bit over 5 minutes on foot to the river promenade. Nice breakfast spread which includes a cooked to order selection. They also serve a very good, reasonably priced lunch with just two selections daily, one is vegetarian. There is a nice cafe a couple of doors away, and several other places to eat nearby.
The staff, on duty 7AM-10PM, were very helpful whenever needed. I particularly would like to recognize Matjaz for going above and beyond the call of duty. I had an appointment that was about a 35-minute walk, and it was raining very hard. They booked me a taxi, but 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup time they called and said it was in an accident and it would be over an hour before a replacement would be available. As soon as he finished checking in a group, Matjaz asked the manager to cover the front desk and drove me to my appointment in his own car. It saved my appointment that was the primary reason I stayed that extra day in Ljubljana. Thank you Matjaz!

Comfort double room booked in March for a stay in May at the "modest" price of 660 euros for 3 nights, breakfast included. Requests: double bed and room without carpet (asthmatic person). Check in at 6.30pm, tired after 10 hours of travel and various visits, we receive a room with separate, unmade beds, a dirty bathroom with urine stains, blood and pubic hair. We immediately ask for a room change, the receptionist, very kind like all the rest of the staff, tells us that they have no other rooms available, offers us an old, lower level room with carpet, which we refused. At this point he contacts the manager and after a while we are told that we can cancel and go to another facility. The receptionist helps us find another hotel or apartment, calling a facility but no availability found. Once 8.30pm is reached, at the suggestion of the hotel manager, the receptionist is invited to clean the bathroom, leaving only 5 minutes from the desk. According to him, he sprayed disinfectant on the sink and toilet. To avoid sleeping on the street, we buy gloves and cleaning products in a nearby supermarket and clean the room ourselves. We request a partial refund (denied) but in exchange we are offered a mini bottle of Slovenian sparkling wine with 2 glasses, with an apology note. We appreciate the gesture but decline (we are teetotallers). The next day they push the beds together and apparently clean up the room. Holiday definitely started off on the wrong foot. Good location, close to the centre, breakfast poor in choice and quantity, you save a little because hot dishes are offered (eggs, omelettes or crepes with Nutella or jam). Ps. only one type of yogurt and only one type of jam (raspberries?), little fruit, some cold cuts. Excellent automatic coffee/cappuccino/latte machine Sufficient external soundproofing, slightly less internal. The window that can be opened, but it's better not to, overlooks engines that work day and night

I was unpleasantly surprised, given a few reviews saying this hotel was quiet, that an outdoor concert theatre is very close by. You would need to be out until late not to be disturbed by the noise. I had earplugs and they weren’t enough. The thing is that apart from this concert hall Ljubljana is indeed a quiet city because it’s mostly traffic free. In addition, I found the hotel receptionist’s insistence that I install an app on my phone as backup to the card key very annoying. The room itself was fine. We appreciated the kettle and fridge. We enjoyed breakfast at the French cafe just downstairs.

Great location! Walkable to everything along the river! Eggs Benedict is best 'special order' item at breakfast (omelette was meh). Small room but sufficient. Front desk helped me get a reservation to Plecnik's house tour. Check chair cushions in garden area b4 you sit... might be wet! Don't use Expedia to book ANYTHING in Ljubljana... our airport transfer turned out to be non-existent. Hotel Mrak says they quit using Expedia as booking company. There are 3 hotel transfer companies at the airport and only staffed when flights come in... taxi was PRICY but when you are standing there after the (prebooked) full shuttles leave you have no alternative.

I think the best thing about the Mrak are the staff, from the desk attendees who provide directions and recommendations, to the breakfast staff who take orders, to the room staff who provided extra towels and shampoo.
The Mrak is a small, clean and modern (or recently renovated) hotel which is very close to the centre of town. Our second floor room faced a courtyard, and while the room was tight, I've been in smaller.
The breakfast service is excellent and well worth including in your booking. Lots of pastries, fresh buns and croissants, cheese and meats, fish, fruit, and good coffee. Plus you can order eggs in pretty much every form you could want, including eggs Benedict, plus ham, bacon or sausages.
The front desk staff recommended a restaurant the first night (the Figoveca), stopped us going to the Friday food fare which had been cancelled, told us how the air-conditioning and towel rack worked in the room, and were generally just very helpful. In fact, these staff also communicated with us before we arrived to let us know the hotel shuttle was not operating and recommended Go Opti shuttle service.
I have only a couple of issues to mention; first we had some confusion over whether we had prepaid or not (I think it was miscommunication with our travel agent but its worth knowing before you arrive), second the restaurant was closed probably because of COVID (I have hoped to eat there one night), and third there were no tissues in the room. I know the latter is minor, and curiously few hotels in the Adriatic countries seemed to have a box of tissues in the room?
That said, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Mrak if you are staying in Ljubljana.

The hotel is located near the city centre in a walkable distance to all the must-sees in Ljubljana. It has parking spots for guests which are payed separately and should be reserved in advance, but it is still very convenient if you are travelling by car. The staff was very welcoming and nice to us. The hotel room was clean and had all the things one would need. We didn’t have breakfast, as we were staying for only one night and had to go early on the next day, but as far as I know it should be very rich and foremost - delicious. I would definitely recommend a stay in hotel “Mrak”!

Hotel Mrak is a small hotel in a nice and quiet part of LJubljana. It's located just a 5 minutes of walking from a city center. Room was nice and clean, bathroom small and clean. Hot water was available immediately. There was a kettler in a room with 2 bags of instant coffee and 2 begs of tea. They have 5-6 places in front of a entrance. For breakfast everything was delicious. I especially liked sausages. Meat and cheese products were from local farms. Breakfast room is small so only cold food is served. Hot meals you can order to be prepared (eggs, omlets....) . My only remark would concern way of serving bread. When you sit for a table waiters will bring you paper bag with bread, and there'are 2 pcs per person. In my case i have to ask for more. Second time i was a little bit shamed to ask for more :)

The hotel was in a very good location, it was very clean, reasonably priced but the best part was the interaction with all the folks that work there. We arrived later than expected, after the reception business hours. Special thanks to Andrej who accommodated our late check-in.
