We were here for a short break over New Year's Eve. The journey went well thanks to the description on the website, as did the valet parking. A committed and professional team greeted us at reception.
Our higher-priced comfort room was very spacious, but smelled a bit musty of ancient, cold smoke. Although they have tried to improve the "old stock" with a large, comfortable bed and L'Occitane products in the bathroom, the floor creaks, the fluffy carpet is no longer up to date and the view into a back courtyard where loud generators/air conditioning units are running was not so great.
The breakfast selection was great, but there is a lot of hustle and bustle because the buffet is placed right between the tables. The constant coming and going unfortunately makes it a bit uncomfortable.
We had booked the gala dinner at the hotel for New Year's Eve. Everything was very nicely decorated and the food (buffet) was excellent. Points are deducted for the service. Apparently they had hired staff who did not meet the standard of the hotel. Of the 5 white wines on the menu, our choice was not "available" right at the start of dinner - we suspect that the very young, inexperienced waiter couldn't find it. Instead, he brought another (more expensive) one with the words "Take that one, it tastes just as good". We agreed, whereupon the young man opened the bottle, poured a glass full and disappeared. A little training on how to serve wine and that you let people taste it beforehand would have been good. The wine was horrible, like a dessert wine and was completely unsuitable for the meal. A little later, we wanted to clear away the plates, with the cutlery clearly crossed on each one. In addition, the volume of the singer was unpleasant, and it was impossible to have a conversation at the table.
The hotel's central location in the middle of town is definitely a plus. This makes up for a lot and gives it an extra point for the rating.
Our conclusion: the beautiful exterior and the excellent staff in many places don't quite match the interior. And if you offer a gala dinner, you also have to invest in the appropriate service. So there is still room for improvement.

Booked the Hotel Slon for a weekend as a couple, through a booking site. I chose the cheapest room, aware that, according to the reviews I read online, I risked a very small and uncomfortable room. Instead I was assigned a double room perfectly in line with the expected level: comfortable, spacious, bathroom with tub and shower, large wardrobe, safe, TV and minibar. The hotel is of excellent appearance and well kept (the leitmotif of the negative reviews is "there is carpet in the corridors, and it stinks"; there is carpet, yes, and there are kind and smiling attendants who clean it regularly continuous). The staff is courteous and professional, I noticed that even the last waiter at breakfast masters English better than some guests. The breakfast is above expectations for variety, abundance and quality. It must be said that the hotel is really large, I imagine that during peak periods you may have to wait a few minutes to access the room. Lastly, the spa - included in the price: a Finnish sauna, in which three or at most four people can fit, and a Turkish bath of the same size, a relaxation room with five loungers. Again, in periods and times of maximum attendance it can be a problem, but you just need to organize yourself and have a little patience. The spa is "authentic", don't be like an Italian who thinks they're going in costume. There are lockers with keys, although there is no actual changing room.
Very central location, expensive parking: I parked in an interchange car park and reached the hotel in 15 minutes by bus, a recommended solution.

Super large room although with little furniture and antique, but has everything you need. Big bed too, although the mattress is somewhat soft for my taste. There are several types of pillow to choose from and plenty of amenities. The bathroom and shower are somewhat small. I had asked for a quiet room and was assigned one on the fourth floor, indoors, without views, but I didn't mind because I rested very well without noise. Every day they leave you a bottle of water, which is appreciated. Because of the heatwave I spent more time than expected in the hotel, and I was very comfortable. The rooms may need some aesthetic renovation, but nothing urgent. The breakfast room is large and had plenty of options, although I missed a toaster and they always set the air conditioning very high, and first thing was not necessary. Turning and down a street you can already see the pink church of the Annunciation in the Plaza Preseren, best impossible location. I had a very good stay and was very happy.

Great location, close to the pedestrian area leading to the historic part and Christmas markets. Very good breakfast and great choice. Family suite rooms comfortable and spacious. Great value for money. Perhaps some chimes would be needed on parts of the room furniture, a bit old, but still well kept and very clean. Friendly staff. Recommended to reserve the parking space in the garage

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel Slon in a comfort twin room.
The location of the hotel is very convenient for central Ljubljana - few minutes walk from main square.
Hotel is in the pedestrian street, no crosd traffic, only buses. If you arriv3 by car you can drive to the hotel though and afzer checking in the hotel staff will park your car (28 eur per day).
Room is clean, comfortable. I found the bed too soft, but after removing th3 extra matrasse, it became o.k.
Nice L Occitane toiletries in the bathroom.
Breakfast is of good quality and tasty. I would recommend the hotel.

The hotel is located right on the edge of the pedestrian area of the historic center of Ljubljana, it's really hard to ask for anything better. The building itself isn't too attractive but once you enter you won't notice it anymore. The car valet service is very convenient at a reasonable price.
The rooms are nice, maybe ours a little small for 3 people but nothing terrible, while the bathroom is very nice, huge and has a window. Unfortunately in our room there was carpet unlike other cool parquet floors. Apart from this, the room was equipped with all the services you could wish for, including a Nespresso machine. The hotel also has a sauna and fitness center which we did not use. Excellent breakfast

The best aspect is the location, literally loads of shops, restaurants everywhere and 5 minutes from the canal, yet you get a good night's sleep as it is sufficiently away for the main hub.
If you have a car, there is an excellent service, as you pull up in front of the hotel there is someone waiting to park it for you, and although it is pricey, at least you know the car is safe and parked, because i think parking must be a nightmare.
The hotel had all the facilities you need and the breakfast is one of the best selections I've ever had.
What stops me from giving this place top marks is the room itself, a bit drab, and the carpets have to go, so unhygienic. Plus, if you give water ever day, why don't you top up the tea and coffee? If you see there is no coffee left because the two sachets have been used, why not replace them?
Despite this, would highly recommend.

This is a very nice hotel with expected amenities if a hotel. The room was well appointed, nice size bathroom, big closet and a luggage rack.
It offered a spectacular buffet breakfast with many selections of juices, pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses and fruits.
The shower is in a tub with only a small glass to deflect the water. But it worked fine.

This is a beautiful hotel just steps away from Triple Bridge. The room was gorgeous, but expensive. There are 4 adults in my family father, mother and 2 adult daughters. We had a suites with two levels, a living room and two separate bedrooms. The beds and pillows were so comfortable, we slept very well. They have L'Occitane toiletries, which was very nice. The shower was amazing, walk in and spacious. Breakfast was included in the price of the room, it was plentiful and beautifully laid out. We had quiche, champagne, fruit, american and european coffee, juice, meat, eggs, pastries, vegetables, cheese and much more, a great value. Parking was available at an extra cost. We told the valet when we would need our car and they had it parked out front and ready to go. We would definitely stay here again.

Bad experience. They speculate abundantly on the parking lot, parking that is not the hotel's but public, and is far from the hotel. Upon arrival you do not understand where to stop, because it is pedestrian area... 0 assistance. You bring your car to park with them, and it's inconvenient to have to depend on them to get it back. Staff extremely rude, savvy and snobbish. To earn more, they make the next customer wait (despite being on check-in time), to allow the previous customer to late check out. After having an unacceptable and rude behavior, they even asked for pre-authorization for the room and parking, probably because they were afraid we would leave... Not recommended, especially if you are Italian.

No idea re: cribs but even if you have to pay a little extra it will be worth it. By far, this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We felt like royalty!
Dear
For all guests arriving by car, we recommend the hotel’s valet parking in a secure garage for 20 EUR per day. You can bring your car in front of Hotel, and Reception Staff will park your car to garage.
If you have any other question/request, please feel free to contact us!
Best Regards!
Dear guest,
Thank you for your message.
All our rooms and also public facilities have air conditioning. Maybe you have read one of our last reviews where the guest is commenting about this matter for his stay in October. Currently it is almost winter in Ljubljana so our centralized system is turned on to heating.
I hope this clarifies your concern and you are very welcome to visit us for your planned holidays in summer time.
With kind regards.
