While I was only supposed to stay at the Hotel Ljubljana one night, my sojourn extended into three. Absolutely no regrets about that!
- Location: Smack-dab in the heart of Ljubljana’s vibrant pedestrian center, one can walk to just about any attraction, restaurant, or boutique you’d ever want. It’s right along the river. Because of this pedestrian-only location, do remember that you’ll need to park or be Uber-dropped-off further away from the property than typical of most hotels and walk five or so minutes on foot. There’s also an electric buggy/trolley vehicle that regularly traverses the pedestrian district, but I don’t know much about it—I only walked places on my trip here.
- Atmosphere: What first struck me was the cozy factor of the lobby. It’s somewhat awkward having to cut through the restaurant en route to the reception desk, but you get used to it after a while. Note that there is an entrance opposite the restaurant (in the river’s direction), but it is not wheelchair-accessible. The lobby and restaurant feature sleek surroundings, snug light fixtures, and a grand fireplace always hosting a roaring fire to lessen the frigid winter temps. There aren’t really areas to hang out or socialize that aren’t a part of the restaurant, but the space constraints of the historic building render additional lounging impossible.
- Amenities: In addition to the (upscale, pricey) restaurant, there’s free WiFi, smart TVs in every room, and a 24-hour front desk…but that’s about it amenity-wise for any pedestrian-center hotel in Ljubljana. There simply isn’t space for your pools, gyms, or spas. I honestly had everything I could ever need during my stay here.
- Service: Every member of staff was fantastic, especially the general manager who was extremely helpful. English was spoken without any issue, as is the case in most places in the city.
- Room: Hence the title, you could engage with the following thought experiment to visualize the layout and attributes of Hotel Ljubljana’s rooms: combine a nice, no-frills capsule hotel with a 3-4 star property with urban-sized king and twin bedrooms…some rooms here are capsule-sized, while others are bigger, but not too big. My first night was spent in one of those capsule rooms, and the latter two were upgraded to a twin. Both were tidy, functional, and well-maintained, not to mention very quiet (albeit I could hear occasional voices from the hallway in my first room).
- Value: Not calculating the presence of the restaurant into my value analysis, I believe Hotel Ljubljana offers, by far, the best value of any hotel in the pedestrian core. I secured a nightly rate of €60 for both rooms with an extra €10 per night for complimentary breakfast, of which the selection was extensive and otherwise priced heftily. That rate, in my view, is superb.
The Hotel Heritage may be higher quality, but it charges a lot more, and the Hotel Ljubljana has excellent quality for budget-conscious travelers. See you again in the future!

The hotel is in a great location in the pedestrian zone and within walking distance of all the sights, restaurants and bars in the city center. Unfortunately, you can't drive to the hotel, so you have to carry your luggage from the underground car park - about 400m away. The rooms are very nice and modern, the bathroom is nice but poorly designed. When you shower, everything gets wet. At €15, breakfast is not too expensive for Ljubljana and is very varied. The only thing we didn't like was the staff, they seemed a bit arrogant.

Hotel was about a 20 minute walk from the Ljubljana bus station and pretty easy to find as it is by the side of the Ljubljanica river which has lots of pedestrian bridges across it. The location of the hotel is great as you can walk to most places as the city is not large. Check in was quick and efficient. The room was quite small with little storage for clothes. There was no real outside window, there was one but it was quite high up and did not open. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room which meant going down to the restaurant to get a cuppa. The shower was constantly cold and quite small. The breakfast choice was very limited although the food was very good. Breakfast has to be chosen from a menu and I would have preferred a buffet style myself. The staff were friendly.

The hotel presents itself well, in terms of quality of materials and structure (bed and shower 10/10) and also in a fantastic position directly on the canal. The bathroom is very comfortable But... both the bathroom and the bedroom are blind (in total no more than 15 m2) and if we add that the double room is smaller than the room on a ferry, this solution can be fine if you are in transit and not more than one night. I add the most IMPORTANT aspect. The structure was selected with the "breakfast included" filter, and the application extracts it and offers it but I would say... in a misleading way, as it is foreseen as a paid service at the "modest" price of €20.00 per person (we were in 6!). In my opinion, since it is an H4stelle, the fact that there is the possibility of breakfast would be obvious and should not appear among the "breakfast included" offers Last report. There is no LUGGAGE STORAGE, left in the hall practically at the entrance. Friendly and welcoming staff. Pretentious hotel, which creates expectations ... partly "disappointed"

We paid for a room with a view of the castle and you have to outside onto the balcony and stand on tiptoes to see the castle. The room is tiny , you couldn’t swing a cat in it. It’s on the top floor and you have to walk up the top flight of steps to get to it, my wife has a bad knee and it was painful for her to climb the steps, there is no mention in the literature of this.
They don’t have any coffee in the rooms and when we enquired they only have it mixed with milk and sugar I drink black coffee so no luck.
The shower pours more water on the floor than in the shower, it almost flooded the tiny room.
Frankly I think 220 euros for this is extortion

This elegant boutique hotel is located in the best location in the capitol city, and has a 5 star restaurant that is reasonably priced, and with outstanding breakfasts. The staff is helpful and friendly. It was perfect for our small group of 9, and we can't have imagined a better choice. We were booked by gotosloveniatravel, an excellent agency.

New hotel. Very clean and welcoming. The interior style is beautiful. Very central location. Recent and stylish rooms. Double bed larger than standard. However, the room is a bit small. View of the castle. Very good à la carte breakfast (included). Parking available for a fee (350 meters from the hotel), which I recommend taking as the area being central does not offer many (€20 per day). Parking is a bit inconvenient if you have several pieces of luggage.

Nice hotel, very well located. Good breakfast Terrible customer service. I spent 2 nights there with my wife. When I ordered some ice for my room first I was denied it and then given a miserable amount claiming they had little for the restaurant. Inadmissible for a 4* hotel in Europe and in a deluxe room. The parking is only for 3 places and not easy to find. And it pays 20 euros or day!!

This hotel is in a perfect location to explore Ljubliana. We stayed for 5 nights in a 3rd floor double de - luxe room overlooking the river which was lovely. The room was spotlessly clean, the beds were super comfy, great bathroom , the tea and coffee facilities in the room were most welcome and we could not fault the room at all. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices, we ate dinner at the restaurant one evening which was also good if somewhat pricey. There are several eateries nearby which are reasonably priced and also very good. The traditional Slovenian cream cake is delicious! The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional ( bar the one girl who served breakfast who was particularly rude and ill - mannered ) and made us feel very welcome. This was our first visit to Slovenia,it is a fabulous country and we look forward to returning to this lovely hotel.

If excellent service, great food, and exceptionally clean accommodations at a good price is what you are after, look no further than the Hotel Jlublijana! The front desk promptly responded to requests and even made arrangements for our transfer to the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price and the menu was extensive and simply delicious. We loved Eggs Benedict and the Scrambled eggs with bacon! The servers were outstanding.
