Strategic location in the center and very convenient for loading and unloading luggage, but from a 4-star hotel with 4-star prices, you don't expect the following characteristics. Reception open only until 10.30pm, non-existent staff (the room was only tidied up, but not cleaned: there was still toothpaste in the sink), breakfast tablecloths dirty and never changed, dirty cups, cobwebs in the room, non-darkening curtains. Finally, at breakfast it was possible to ask for eggs, but we only discovered this on the second day because a girl (not immediately identifiable as hotel staff) shouted it in the middle of the room. Furthermore, services that other neighboring 4-star hotels provide, such as bike rental, are not provided. We then booked by telephone and we were told a price, which was increased in the email confirmation: when we politely asked for explanations we were told in a rather piqued way that there had probably been a mistake but that they were still offering us a price cheap. In short, apart from the splendid location and the refined furnishings of the hall, the value for money does not hold up.

Fantastic staff. From the first email & advice regarding taxi costs from the airport, to check in & check out - excellent. Really helpful, professional & kind. I left my work mobile phone in the room after check out & the wonderful housekeeping staff went out of their way to ensure the reception staff returned it to me (lucky I was still at breakfast) This is so hugely appreciated. Thank you once again for your diligence & honesty. Reception staff booked a taxi with a preferential rate to the airport for me - and had even researched public & shuttle bus options for me. Above & beyond customer service!
The Hotel itself is so cute! Traditional decor & very clean. In a brilliant location. Easy to walk to the riverfront, easy access to shops and restaurants. Excellent location. Good value for money too. Lovely welcome drink provided in their gorgeous lounge looking out at the cobbler street. Delightful.
Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a home away from home in a brilliant location for a good price. Especially suitable for solo female travellers.
Thank you in particular to Joel & the housekeeping staff.

This hotel is very well located in the old town very close to all the wonderful restaurants and just below the castle. Considering how central the hotel was there was very little noise after 23:00. This is an old style boutique hotel lovingly maintained and run by the owners. A welcome drink is available on arrival.

The WIFI worked very well and breakfast was plentiful with very fresh produce and the option for freshly cooked eggs to your chosen style. Hot water for the showers was available all day and rooms were cleaned daily.

The owners treated each guest as though they were family and went out of their way to offer help, advice or just chat.

Just a few little dislikes but overall I loved the hotel and would definitely come back but outside of the peak summer season.

My room had no air conditioning which made the room very hot in July.
The shower, whilst fully functioning was a little dated.
The coffee machine for breakfast is in Slovenian only which made choosing the right coffee difficult for most of the guests unless given instructions.

The furniture at the entrance and in the lobby really ugly because not cared for, ruined. The room with small and hideous fake wood floors. The bed with an old mattress where it sinks, non-existent sheets just an old mattress cover with mysterious stains and a dusty duvet inside a duvet cover, an old pillow full of mites and dust that has bothered my throat a lot, to be precise I do not suffer from any kind of allergy I am much less asthmatic. Small empty refrigerator that I had to disconnect because of the excessive noise it produced, I know very well that old refrigerators can make a little noise, but it was too much. The ceiling with two pipes crossing, making a decoration in the absence of stucco, perpendicular, well painted of course. The bathroom a nightmare scene. Toilet paper already started and almost finished, tiny sink suitable for a small camper van of 40 years ago, the shower does not work but the water comes out only from the tap that comes down from the shower wall. Maybe it was a tank, again 40 or 50 years ago? The courtesy products are only two tiny bars of soap and two headphones, the mysterious shampoo / shower gel is hanging in the shower, already started as in the bathroom of the grandparents' beach house. Towels are two, old, worn and one even with dangling wires, the other with a stain that I do not want to know what it is. I left at 4. P..S.: I was very tired, I had to leave in the morning, I did not want to argue because little they could say: it was a 4-star hotel and it did not even seem like two. Of course the person who welcomed me was kind, we just needed that.

It is a huge pleasure for me to send this email.
We chose Allegro hotel when planing a trip to Ljubljana for a special family occasion. We loved the deco and the location was perfect. As we were a group of 8 adults traveling we emailed the hotel to request accomodation to suit all 8. The response was so helpful and received prompt correspondence reassuring that we would all be accommodated.
On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by Thomas who offered us complimentary drinks of our choice while he checked us all 8 into 4 different rooms. It was Thomas first day at the reception but he was efficient and friendly.
Every morning Sara met us at breakfast with a smile and offering a warm breakfast. She was extremely helpful in arranging a stunning birthday cake for us which arrived at the Hotel on the day. It was delicious!! Thank you Sara!
Through out our stay Joel was very helpful in making bookings for us for dinner in lovely restaurants, advice and inform about the city and sites. Nothing was too much for Joel and he made our stay so enjoyable.
Our flights were cancelled for 24 hours and again all 8 of us were accommodated at the hotel without any inconvenience on short notice. The rooms are warm, clean, large and comfortable. We loved the deco and the location but it was all the friendly staff at this hotel who made our stay memorable.

We were unceremoniously bumped to this hotel from the neighboring Lesar at the last minute. I didn’t think this met the same standard as the Lesar’s pictures indicated. We were also placed in a small room at the top of some metal stairs out back above a tired patio. The room was old and only one bath towel provided with 3 smaller towels, shower drain was clogged and a few other less desirable features. We ran a 3 star Inn for 10 years and we would not have presented such a room, nor even considered charging 200 e for this poorly appointed twin room. Old and quaint is one thing, this room was clearly only old.

The staff was great, breakfast was average, location was great, parking is not close, rooms out back and patio terrace need work.

Definitely do the old town on a Friday night with all the fun, food and festivities.

This is a great little boutique hotel right in the centre of the pedestrianised area of Ljubljana so the location couldn’t be better. We arrived as a group of cyclists for the Maraton Franja race and the staff were all so unbelievably helpful and friendly and happily helped out with all our slightly quirky cycling needs. Such a great team and the hotel was kept very neat and tidy. Would strongly recommend not only visiting Ljubljana and Slovenia but this hotel in particular for a real great experience.

Nice romantic hotel, strategically located for visiting the historic center. Few rooms but very comfortable, quiet and clean; no elevator. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but does not speak Italian. Breakfast in a nice room in the basement, but not very rich (not four-star). There's no restaurant. It is in the pedestrian zone: the nearest parking is at least 10 minutes walk away.

An hotel with real character and charm. Good rooms. Pleasant small courtyard garden. Lovely staff.you feel more like a house guest than an hotel one. Especially as reception is not attended all the time and you get a door key. Breakfast in the cellar to set you up for the day. One downside is that the very necessary air con in the rooms does not work as such. No more than a rather useless fan. They are aware as there have been so many complaints about it. Hopefully that will translate into something actually being done.
You can walk from the hotel to anywhere you are likely to want to go. It is a compact city. Lovely. More than can generally be said for the food in Slovenia. Julia nearby your best bet. Had a rare good meal there. A traditional dish.

We stayed for three nights in this beautiful older style hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable with a small terrace. The hotel was in a great location on the edge of old town and a nice walk to historic sites, restaurants bars and shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I took a minibus from airport to hotel. It is more convenient than a bus and depart frequently (i did not have to wait for the regular bus for two hours on a Saturday morning). Minibus drops you just around the corner from the hotel - there are no cars in Old City, I do not remember exactly, but believe the price is about $10. The drivers are nice and helpful, Highly recommended. Look for minibus as you exit the airport if a driver does not approach you first.

Turn right out of the Allegro Hotel. Don't go into town. The restaurants on the pedestrian area towards the river are always very busy and quality suffers. There are two lovely dining restaurants one specialising in fish and the other regional dishes just up right from the Allegro on either side of the road. Try these.
