We stayed here for two nights on a road trip and absolutely loved it. The hotel is just a few blocks from the old town so the location is great. We booked a club lounge room and it was a very good value and one of the nicest lounges we've tried (we're platinum with Marriot and mostly used their lounges).
We had a corner room on the 16th floor, two twin size beds (they were out of kings), a sitting area and desk and wrap around windows with views of the Alps, the city and the the castle. The bathroom was massive with a huge soaker tub and separate rooms off of it for a shower and toilet. We are impressed to find complimentary mineral water and a couple Slovenian pastries waiting for us and the room also had a Nespresso maker. Everything about the room oozed luxury, they even have mood lighting built into the bases of the Windows!
With the club lounge rate, breakfast in the 20th floor restaurant was included and it was pretty dark fancy. There was a huge buffet with everything from smoked salmon and charcuterie items to salads, smoothies and traditional eggs, hash browns etc. Plus there was a limited menu that you could also order off of. The setting is phenomenal and I'd suggest budgeting more time that you'd usually take for breakfast. The best part was that they had Prosecco; I was surprised our server didn know what a mimosa was but she was happy to bring us fresh oj to mix our own. Honestly, the food wasn't amazing but there were enough options that you could find something tasty (my truffle omelette was good but my wife's Benedict wasn't).
Although all of the staff were friendly the woman at the club lounge was absolutely amazing! So friendly and helpful. The lounge is open most of the day and has a fridge stocked with pops and waters and there's a espresso machine as well. They have very little in the way of snacks when it's not an official meal time, just some stale tortilla chips,. apples and cookies. But from 2 to 4pm they do sandwiches and pastries and from 5 to 7 pm they had wine, beer and spirits and some very light smacks. The food was tasty but this isn't one of those lounges where you'll be able to skip dinner as the portions were tiny and just meant for nibbling. The wine was excellent though and they had this delicious blueberry liquor that my wife and I were encouraged to try by the amazing host.
Valet parking is 35 Euros a night but there's also a parking garage across the street that we used. It's more like 20 a night if you self park.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

Well located, walking distance from old town. We had reached early and were offered an early check in without any fuss, courtesy Maja at front desk. Room was comfortable. Concierge Timothe was quite knowledgeable and helped us in planning our sightseeing trip. B Restaurant on the top floor (20th floor) offers excellent food with panoramic view of the city skyline.

We had a brilliant stay at InterContinental Ljubljana, first impressions are striking. We were warmly greeted by very well presented staff, the front of house team were so polite, professional and friendly. The check in process was very smooth, received a fantastic room upgrade to a corner King premium club room. Our room was luxuriously appointed, spacious, great decor with contemporary furnishings. Located on a high floor we admired the picturesque views from our elegant room. Bed was exceptionally comfortable. The bedding and pillows were amazing, the room was quiet, relaxing, and extremely clean. Gorgeous marble bathroom, perfect layout, and excellent lighting. Large walk-in rain shower, deep soaking bath tub, lovely Byredo toiletries, plus the bathroom had large windows which offered spectacular views over Ljubljana and the surrounding Alps. Had access to Club InterContinental lounge located on the 19th floor, a comfortable private environment, breathtaking views, great refreshments throughout the day, good evening drinks fantastic local wines. Diana in the lounge made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast next morning which was served in the B Restaurant on the 20th floor, a highlight for us was to eat out on the terrace, best breakfast experience, incredible views, food was delicious and to make our breakfast even more special we indulged in a sparkling wine breakfast. The breakfast at the InterContinental Ljubljana is exceptional, great selection, quality ingredients, liked the open kitchen chance to watch the chefs, I must mention the homemade ice cream at breakfast it was amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. The location is great, walking distance to attractions, restaurants, bars and shops. The only thing that was disappointing was that the Serenity SPA, pool, saunas and jacuzzi was temporarily closed due to obligatory maintenance. The pool being unavailable was inconvenient but it was understandable that work is needed to be carried out in order to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and service. The hotel did provide an alternative choice, after reading underwhelming reviews the swimming pool facilities seemed a complete opposite in comparison to the prestigious Serenity Wellness and Spa centre at InterContinental Ljubljana, we were looking forward to Indulging in this exclusive luxurious atmosphere from the swimming pool on the 18th floor. We have a reason to return and fully enjoy the hotels leisure facilities on our next stay.

Average hotel. Centrally located, decent sized rooms and well-appointed bathroom. What will not go down well is the extremely low service standards.
Housekeeping is super slow, inefficient and has a strange relationship with the front office and the restaurant.
If you ask for anything to be brought to the room - e.g. an extra plate or a toiletry item (nothing out of the usual room amenities), the front desk will promptly inform you that "Yes, we will get it sent to you right away. Please note, Housekeeping will charge an extra delivery charge for the said service". huh? Extra charge for an extra plate??
We ordered room service and there was an extra service charge for a late night delivery - an item ordered from a menu ostentatiously promoted as 24-hour available. Again, while taking the order, the kitchen informed us, "HK will charge an extra fees for delivery". It's difficult to understand what they mean by "HK will charge.." Are they all not a part of the same hotel?? We still went ahead and placed the order WITH the delivery charge. Then came the most frustrating part - the food delivered was not even freshly prepared. All we received was a stale semi-warm tomato mush passed off as soup. When we complained, they said the food was prepared during the day before the kitchen is closed for the day. So while the restaurant call attendant took an extra couple of minutes to repeat twice that there's an extra charge for late night food delivery, they didn't feel the need to mention that the food served is neither fresh nor hot!!
The room offers decent sleep quality - the least you'd expect from an IHG hotel but the service left us with a really bad experience.
So, while you can choose the hotel for a centrally located, fairly comfortable stay, just don't expect any kind of service - an extra towel, a pair of scissors, or even some paid-for food.

A large, top of the range hotel which lives up to its billing. Five minutes’ walk from the train and bus stations and 10 minutes from the Three Bridges, it is ideally located. Our room was large and very well appointed, with a desk, ample storage, fridge, safe, separate bath, w.c. and shower, minibar, tea and coffee maker etc. Breakfast (both cooked to order and buffet) was extensive and excellent quality, taken in the floor 20 restaurant with fine city views. Rooms were cleaned and serviced to a high standard. We found staff very helpful. If seeking a fault all we could find was that the sink design means the plug can’t be closed (maybe a problem for shavers or contact lens users). But all in all a first class hotel

We booked a “King bed premium” room for 5 nights at Intercontinental Hotel, checking-in on Sunday April 3rd. We arrived in the afternoon by car. Although not particular scenic, the hotel location is quite practical: easy to find by car, located near the main train and bus station and just 10-15 minutes walk away from the old town. The check-in process, performed by charming staff, was very fast and straightforward and a few minutes after arrival we were already “singing in the shower” in room 1309. The room was huge, well architected, quiet and comfortable and with a twist of classic city/business style furniture. The first evening we had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant located on the top floor were we enjoyed good food and good wine served by kind staff in a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast the next morning added to our positive experience with its large choice of fresh, cold and hot dishes. All in all a very pleasant stay. During our stay in town we had a memorable dinner at Strelec Restaurant (which is located inside the City Castle) and enjoyed another very interesting gourmet evening at TaBar (which is located in the old town, across the river, at Ribji trg 6).

We stayed at the intercontinental for 6 nights in April. The hotel is wonderful and so are the rooms, very spacious and clean. The TV had a great choice of channels. We booked breakfast in our package, the breakfast room is on the 20th and has stunning views of the city. Plenty of food to choose from as well as a la carte options ie eggs Benedict or omelette. The hotel is in a central location and easy to reach attractions. It's about 10 mins walk to the train and bus station. We took a bus to Lake Bled one day which cost 3 euros each way - unbelievable it takes around an hour to get there but the scenery is breathtaking. Transport is cheaper at the weekend. Lake Bled is absolutely beautiful and is a definite must do. However there is a lot of walking and a very high climb to the castle but worth it for the views. You can walk at your own place, fortunately we had great weather. You can take a boat ride to the centre of the lake to visit the church which is also a climb but again has stunning views. Slovenia is also beautiful and clean and has lots of great attractions. I would recommend the hotel and a visit to Slovenia. Croatia is also a favourite of mine.

This is without a doubt the best Intercontental Hotel I've stayed in. Anywhere. In fact, I am writing this review while I'm still here. It started three months ago when I emailed the Concierge to arrange tours and airport transfers. They wrote back immediately, answered all my many questions, and provided a wide variety of options along with invaluable tips. The check-in was seamless and the staff on its own volition verified my upcoming tours and pick-up times. The hotel itself is new and modern with spiffy things like undercabinet lighting in the bathroom and toilets that flush with a waive of your hand. The rooms are large and immaculate. It's a 5 minute walk to the city center. There are 100 television stations. There's a mini-market next door that has everything including hot prepared food. But the real reason I'm writing this now is that Mastercard, in It's infinite wisdom, decided in the middle of my stay that I'm not really me. I panicked. The front desk staff didn't and handled the situation with aplumb. There's nothing else to say. Stay here. Nothing else comes close.

Stayed here for two nights after a event in Lake Bled. The location of the hotel is ok but some of the staff exceeded my expectation. We were checked in by Timothe who was super helpful and knowledgable. We booked a Premium Club Room and was given a really nice corner room on the 16th floor, as advertised on the website. We used the lounge few times. Komal, (who normally works in Room Service) was a real star - one of the best service I've received. She worked very hard and was very engaging. On my day of check out the lounge was attendend by the club staff and she was also super nice.
However for a hotel with this price range I would say some improvement is required. After first night of stay we realised there was constant noise (like water drain, could be from the pool) so we requested to change our room. We were given a much smaller room which is definitley not a "premium room" nor "room with a better view" as the front desk offerred. Eventually we got another room which was a premium King. This room is decent but the temperatuer control is not working.
I feel that the hotel is like a 4+ hotel than a true 5*. The room is fairly basic although comfortable. The interior (lobby, lifts) is very blend and the room does not feel cozy. The bathroom also did not feel plush. Compared with some of the Intercontinental I stayed this summer, Ljubljana Intercontienntal did not meet my expectations.

Located 10 minutes walk from the old town and opposite the train station, a luxury hotel with very good services: -large executive room on the 16th floor with a superb panoramic view of the city. A delicate touch: madeleines on arrival then a bottle of wine and macaroons afterwards. -cozy lounge on the 18th floor with various canapes in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. as well as alcoholic drinks from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. -exceptional breakfast on the top floor also with a panoramic view. A varied choice of dishes, all very refined, I recommend the eggs benedict. -the spa is very pleasant but the swimming pool is cold and the overflowing water that is never wiped up makes the surroundings very slippery. -the only negative point is the restaurant (see my comment), overcooked or fatty dishes. In conclusion, a very nice hotel. A tip: book a taxi to the airport at the hotel, it costs 55 euros while a taxi with a taximeter taken from the airport to the hotel costs at least 72 euros.

I don’t recall breakfast that clearly, but I’m almost sure last Summer there was no buffet, but à la carte. I also remember the tables had a good separation among them.
The hotel does not, but there is an cheap taxi service.. ride2go or 2ride.. you buy a ticket at the airport at the boot, you call them for the way back.
There are more places to choose from in the Ljubljana area.
