Located on Nova Scotia's picturesque South Shore, White Point is a quintessential beachfront holiday experience – all year round. The Main Lodge is the heart of the property – sprawling, yet cozy, with crackling wood fires and warm, maritime hospitality. Here you will find a variety of dining options, indoor swimming, recreation areas for kids of all ages, a gym, and a Games Room – all with spectacular ocean views. Accommodations vary widely across the Resort, with everything from family and pet-friendly Canadiana-style cottages and rooms – to modern, adult-only Oceanfront Treehouses, and Lakeside Glomes – complete with private hot tubs! You can also rent a self-contained cottage with access to all of the Resort's amenities, including our white sand beach. Kids love our resident wild bunnies, seasonal supervised activities, and places to play. Couples love the romantic backdrop. And families love parking the car and totally unwinding. The adventurous can try surfing Atlantic waves or paddle boarding on our freshwater lake. The Boathouse is filled with everything from life jackets - to bikes - to pickleball racquets for use on our new pickleball courts – and it's where you’ll find our summertime ice cream shop. Our staff are always here to help. We can book you a massage, a tee time for a little seaside golf, or set you loose on a sightseeing adventure to nearby the UNESCO Town of Lunenburg. For those seeking a good old-fashioned beach holiday, you've found just the spot. Casual, and unpretentious – bring a good beach book, or kick off your shoes for a little beachcombing. Tides in, tides out. Unplug, and give in to beach mode. The evenings bring starry skies, bonfires, live music, socializing in our Founder's Lounge, or relaxing in a colourful wooden chair – soothed by the acoustics of crashing waves. Built as a hunting and fishing lodge in 1928, White Point continues to embrace our natural surroundings, and we encourage all White Pointers to slow down, and focus on the simple beauty that is Atlantic Canada.

White Point Beach Resort has garnered praise for its charming atmosphere, featuring cozy fireplaces, live music, and scenic views that create a welcoming environment. However, guests have called out the dining options as overpriced and lacking in quality, with some experiencing billing inaccuracies.
While the rooms are generally clean and comfortable, a few travelers have noted they can appear worn and occasionally suffer from noise disruptions. Service issues, such as slow dining and order mistakes, along with concerns over the timeliness and quality of amenities like the buffet, have affected overall guest satisfaction.

We came to White Point to celebrate my birthday. We enjoy November stays at the resort. It is not as busy and yet all the amenities make it ideal. The food and service was wonderful. Live entertainment in the lounge is an added bonus. The sound of the waves is so relaxing and always a highlight of our stay.

We spent 4 days at White Point Beach Resort at the end of June 2024.
We had two sets of accommodations during our stay (by our own choosing). We spent two nights in a "White Point King Room". The room was spacious and functional with a nice little balcony, but not much of a view. The room was clean but a little tired. The following two nights we stayed in one of the new "Tree House Oceanview One Bedroom". The tree house was new, functional and all round lovely with a nice balcony that overlooks the ocean. The king bed and duvet were wonderful and comfortable. We had a small problem with the shower that we reported to the front desk and they were very helpful and had the maintenance engineers resolve it that same day.
We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and location of the resort but it does limit your options for food service and in this instance that is not a good thing. We had several meals in the Founders lounge and Elliots and unfortunately the food service went from bad to worse. It is not a large menu and we found it a bit overpriced yet we did try several items. The only item we could recommend was the White Point Burger but even then that experience was tainted since my husband and I both ordered an appetizer and then a main dish. Our appetizers arrived, were consumed and then taken away and awhile later my burger was delivered not no sign of my husband's meal (Lobster Mac & Cheese). We waited 40 minutes before his main meal was served. The night before our appetizers and mains were all served together at the same time. The kitchen needs a staff that understands food service, preparation and timing. The serving staff appear to have no experience and even worse have no concept of customer service. In short the entire food & beverages department of the resort needs some serious training and leadership.
Summary:
Pros: Lovely location/ grounds. Front desk staff helpful with some very friendly. Gift shop had a nice selection of items and the girl who staffed the shop while we were there was delight. New treehouse accommodations were lovely.
Cons: Food service was abysmal. Food offering was overpriced based on the quality of what was being produced.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the beautiful location, new Treehouse accommodations, and found our front desk staff helpful. We apologize for the disappointing dining experience. We're excited to share that we welcomed a new Executive Chef in the last week of June and launched new menus shortly after. We are also focused on training our staff to improve customer service. We hope to welcome you back soon for a much better dining experience.

It was a different experience to most of our stays. We stayed in one of the rooms fairly close to the main reception. It was clean and tidy and it had a balcony from where you could see the ocean. There is a laundry for guests to use which is chargeable but you will need dollar coins. Food in the bar was good .Dip your feet in the can if you are brave enough, once you get used to it it’s refreshing😁

White Point is located on picturesque beach that can be observed from the lodge restaurant or pub. It is a relaxing, family friendly place. Cabins, glomes and bunnies are scattered about the quiet property.
The breakfast buffet, pub grub and drinks, scenery and sound of the waves are great. However, the dinner preparation at the main restaurant, Eliots, is over cooked and needs attention. Maybe a new chef is in order? Also, guests should be informed when checking in that their rooms will only be tidied up and cleaned every 3 days so that expectations are set at the beginning of the stay.

We have been big fans of White Point, we consistently have gone every year for the past 10 years and we were married here. I am not sure if we will go back next summer.
The main issue was with the food, our children have Celiac disease and I am a vegetarian. The breakfast buffet was not labeled, we were advised the sausages were gluten-free only to find out after my boys ate some that they were not. There was no apology or offer to remove their charges from the bill. Please be very careful if you have Celiac eating here! In previous years there was a protein source for vegetarian's, they used to have an amazing salad with sautéed tofu, but it has been removed from the menu along with multiple other vegetarian friendly items. Cost of buffet for dinner has increased significantly to 55.00 but the quality of the food has decreased.
Erroneous billing happened numerous times, my husband was charged twice for our supper which was a large amount of $198 x 2. He noticed it the next morning on his banking app when he went to pay for breakfast. We did get a refund it several hours later, but not something you want to deal with on vacation. Also, at breakfast they had charged us for four children buffets and four children meals which was completely wrong (one buffet, two ordered off the menu and other was free as under five). Please keep a close eye on your bill.
Cottage issues: When we arrived we were given the wrong keys and had to go back up in the pouring rain. Then, TV was not working. Apparently they have new smart TVs, but the new smart TVs do not work well as the Internet is poor. They had another remote for regular TV but this didn't work for us either. We had to wait for someone to come reprogram the TV. We were unable to call the front desk because they had recently replaced the phones and our telephone was not working (someone came the night before we left to fix it). My daughter has long hair to her waist, when she was in the shower there was no conditioner in the bottle. This was right before bed and again we had no phone to call the front desk. There is also no bottle opener.
Children activities: In the past, there has been a minimum of two staff working in the children's room. They used to be able to offer a craft at the same time as face painting. We waited for face painting, as advertised at 10 am but told they only have a single person working and she would be doing the craft first then face painting at 10:30. If we had known, we would have gone to the pool then came back for face painting. The following day we were aware face painting would be at 10:30 but there was a different guy working and he delayed the face painting to 11 AM. We ended up not doing the face painting, my daughter was disappointed.
We went to the gift shop twice, both times it had a sign saying they needed to "Hop away" for an hour. The gift store hours do not match when it's opened. One day it was closed at three and the other it was closed at 11.
My impression is Whitepoint is understaffed this year and the dining experience has significantly declined.

We went for our wedding and we were incredibly disappointed with the resort. They were very disorganized and double booked several key aspects of our ceremony. They added ridiculous surcharges for things that weren’t outlined in their contract. Several of my guests were charged for meals they did not attend or drinks they did not purchase or consume. They charged a cleaning fee despite me and my party doing the entirety of set up and tear down. The salmon was severely undercooked and we had to ask for it to be replaced. Overall an awful experience.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are sincerely sorry to hear that your wedding experience did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide exceptional service and regret any areas where we fell short. We understand your concern regarding the cleaning fee. This charge was necessary due to the cleanup of flower petals, which required additional time and effort from our staff. Regarding the salmon, our chefs carefully examined the dish and found it to be cooked to standard, but we acknowledge your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are committed to ensuring our guests' satisfaction and will use your comments to improve our services. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We are always striving to improve and hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future.

First, the resort is in a beautiful location and truly has a resort feel. Many staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and dining experience however, need an upgrade. We had read the reviews so thankfully were not surprised. Recommend you read reviews on multiple sites prior to booking.
Accommodations: Our room was very dated, loud and felt like an old motel. (we could hear conversations in the next rooms and our bathroom had a musty smell) but the bed and pillows comfortable. We were very disappointed that the newly added accommodations did NOT allow children. A bit odd in a family resort. Some new construction was occurring which hopefully will be updated rooms which allow family stays.
Dining: Reservations required by phone- an online booking system to book and change reservations would be welcomed. The food and dining experience was very disappointing as the dining room was loud and crowded and food quality low. It was not a relaxing holiday dinner to enjoy a nice meal and bottle of wine. More a grab a buffet and leave style.
Lunch had a 45-60 minute wait for food. Some creative solutions such as a Beach BBQ, or sandwich shop would be a welcome addition for snacks/lunch.
Breakfast buffet was below expectations with long waits for refills on staple items like eggs.
White Point is in a secluded location making other dining options challenging. We were also surprised with the limited outdoor dining seating at a beach front resort. The dinner buffet was also disappointing as the quality was just not there.
Founder's Lounge had a long wait for food and our meal was average "chain restaurant" at best.
Price Point: The price point is quite high for the quality of rooms and quality of dining experience. You are 100% paying for the view which is spectacular and the amenities of the property- evening activites, free kayaks, playground, kid's activity, pool, hot tub and sauna. In saying that the pools are small and the kids programs limited on a rainy day.
To note cell reception may be spotty depending on your carrier, but wifi available throughout most of the property ( non secure) If you are on a working vacation this could be an issue.
Overall we likely would not return, the location and the nostalgia of this property ups my review to a 3 star.

Love the beach, the pool, playground, ice cream near the lake, and the relaxed and accepting feeling when staying with young kids. Staff are friendly, and i appreciated receiving fresh towels on our second day. Kids are so welcomed. We have been going for a few years with our young kids. Our experience is that the cabins have been always clean.
I do have to say that we were so disappointed with the food this year. We spent $500 for meals on our two night stay and it was really quite bad. Our past years have been great. I tried to order off the breakfast menu this morning and the waiter told me it was only available for those asking for room service. I was at a table in the restaurant. The website shows the breakfast menu….My only option was the buffet which is not good. I had the lobster risotto the first night. It was a pile of salty risotto with tiny shreds of lobster. There was no presentation- just a big bowl of beige risotto which I only ate 1/4 of. The second night we had the buffet which was $55/adult which seemed expensive and was also not good. They had left over pies on the dessert table which just seemed to be a poor decision.
Yesterday’s lunch was the taco salad which was so poorly done. I heard the witness say things would be slow because there was only one cook in the kitchen. We sat on the patio which was very beautiful and the view unreal. The kids had colouring so the waiting was no problem.
We do love Whitepoint and will be back, but will be exploring other options like making meals ahead of time and heating them in the microwave.

We do love Whitepoint and will be back, but will be exploring other options like making meals ahead of time and heating them in the microwave.

My friends and I booked for the buffet dinner. When we arrived, much to our surprise and disappointment, we were told that the buffet was not available with no explanation. Consequently, we ordered off of the menu. We ordered fish and chips and burgers which were very average, however the fries were overdone and quite 'bitty'. The service was unacceptable, I had to get up from my seat several times to get service, for example, no spoon for my chowder along with no bread, also, I had to get a knife because it was taken away when my soup bowl was removed and when my fish and chips arrived, I was left without a knife. All in all it was a very sorry dining experience. To be perfectly clear, when the booking was made a few days before, we had confirmation that the buffet was available and was told what was available on the buffet. There is no excuse for this shoddy experience because it was not too busy.
Actually, on another occasion a few months ago, i wrote to Whitepoint with a complaint regarding my dinner (fish and chips) which was very dry and horrible, the coleslaw tasted very chemically....I did not receive a reply from them regarding this complaint.
As a consequence regarding all this, I will never frequent this establishment again...'fool me once' etc....

Have been coming to White Point at least twice a year for ages and we know what to expect .
There are a few small things that could probably be improved on. We find that the cottages do tend to get fairly warm inside during the summer heat, it would be nice if they had heat pumps to provide some air conditioning during summer. On our most recent trip in September heat wasn’t a huge issue. One weather related issue though caught us off guard. There were a couple of days of really inclement weather with torrential rains keeping us inside. We didn’t realize that White Point has removed the cable televisions. Actually the televisions themselves remain in place, but there is no longer any cable tv. No live tv, no local tv, no ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, no CBC, no live sports, no TSN, no live news. I asked the receptionist and she said that the cable tv was replaced with satellite tv, but this isn’t true. The cable tv was replaced with streaming services. So you can access Netflix, Disney plus and YouTube, assuming that you have an account. Now I know that most people don’t come here on vacation to watch television but as seniors, we tend to watch a bit of tv once we get back from dinner in the evenings. Now for most visits here, having no cable tv wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but because the weather was so rainy we found it frustrating to have no access to local or live television, while we were cooped up inside. Given the history of floods, fires and natural disasters in Nova Scotia in recent years, cutting off a source of potentially vital news information is questionable. In any event the receptionist made no excuses or apologies and said that’s just the way it is.
Recent reviews have suggested that the food quality here has suffered. We didn’t find that at all. We did find that the prices have increased in the dining room since our last visit but the food quality was good. Despite the price increase at the weekend buffet we still found it to be a reasonable value. We did notice that they did appear to be short staffed in the dining room. On one evening we didn’t get seated until half an hour beyond our reservation time. I suspect that once September comes, their summer student staff returns to school leaving them short. The bar and restaurant were both full and I sensed they were a little overwhelmed.
On a positive note, the wifi at white point has gone from horrendous to pretty good in the last couple of years.
we tend to go back and forth between this property and the quarterdeck down the road.
I would say that white point is much better if you’re traveling with a dog, as they seem more pet friendly.
Although now I’m thinking that the quarterdeck might be the preferable option over the two given that white point has eliminated cable tv. Here I was stuck inside during a heavy rain and I couldn’t even watch the golf on tv. While I was staying at a resort with their own golf course.

Hi Chris,
I work here at White Point, sounds like you are referring to our White Point Cottages. For the most part these cottages offer great oceanviews as they are perched above the oceanfront cottages. Each have a woodburning fireplace.
Hope that is helpful, you can see them online on White Point's website under Lodging.

Of course pets are welcome at White Point, they’re a part of your family! Our White Point Rooms, most cottages and even a few vacation homes are pet friendly, just be sure to let reservations know that you’re bringing your pet when you are booking.

You would have to fly to Halifax Nova Scotia. It would then be about a 2 hour drive to White Point.
The Ocean Club Beach House & Tide Watch Cottage both have private hot tubs.
If it were me, I'd prefer a Lakeside Retreat room. The view of the lake is very peaceful, and the rooms are a bit newer.
