Detailed Reviews
Spent 7 nights in a beachfront fare. We wanted somewhere to go that was quiet, at the water and relaxing. Cocoa beach did this and is well outside Port Villa in a quiet out of the way spot overlooking the Mele Bay. Typical day was wake up to water views, peace and quiet, had breakfast which was more than adequate, a swim, snorkel, kayak or stand up paddle boarding, read a book, rest and get away from it all. We did do a day trip to see some other places on the island and included a day trip to Port Villa. Other wise we chilled and did very little and cocoa beach was just the place to do that. The buses were easy to use to get around and the staff ordered them for us. We tried out the other restaurants in Port Villa and those closer for dinner as the menu at Cocoa Beach remained the same for a week and was OK, noting that the staff were locals and doing the best to their ability and probably pay. The sunsets were amazing and the perfect spot to get that view.
Note that Stuart and his staff, we're very helpful. The room was air conditioned and clean, with daily servicing. Water pressure was low and you needed to be clever managing the hot water flow and the water pressure but there was hot water and it was not the end of the world that we had to do this. There was internet close to the restaurant and was intermittent elsewhere in the resort but again didn't need it 24/7, first world problems! It is a third world country and the people are lovely, calm and helpful. As you drive through the villages and streets it makes you grateful for what you do have back at home.
The entry to the water is hazardous, take some water shoes to help with grip, there are snorkels and the colours of the coral and fish were amazing.
If you want to get away from it all and can handle low water pressure and intermittent internet then this is the place to go.

My wife and I have just recently spent 8 days at Coco Beach resort. It was the most stunning place to stay. The ability to be able to snorkel, kayak, stand up paddle board or just go for a relaxing swim (float) in the water straight out the back of the resort was loverly. Stuart the General Manager and all the staff were absolutely amazing. No request or question was to hard or a bother and they accomodate everyone who is staying. The food is loverly and they always offer suggestion on nice places to eat close by or in the city and even simple things such as cutting up fruit that you have purchased from the markets.
I would highly recommend spending sometime here if you are ever in Port Vila.
Thank you Stuart for being such an accomodating host and always having a loverly chat throughout the day! You and the staff make this place the perfect getaway.
Beau and Anna.

We visited this resort for the day to see if this would suit us for our next holiday. The resort is in a perfect location about 20 mins bus ride from Port Vila. It is located on a beautiful beach with great snorkeling right off the beach. It is in a quieter rural location that would suit visitors looking for a beach getaway. We got to view one of the fares and it was a quaint island style room with ceiling fans and the one we viewed also had air conditioning. It would be perfect for us and I loved the charm of it. The restaurant was an open style area that had a lovely breeze going through even though it was a very hot sunny day, We ordered the fish burger for lunch and it was honestly the BEST fish burger I’ve ever had! It was absolutely delicious and compliments to their amazing chef! Rob the manager was very friendly and a pleasure to meet, we enjoyed his company when he had the chance to sit down and mingle with the guests. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our day relaxing, swimming and snorkeling at the resort and I can’t wait for our next Vanuatu holiday at this resort!

We stayed in a fare's with a part-ocean view and what a great experience. This resort is ideal for those looking for a very relaxing experience with direct access to beach and reef. The resort is intimate promoting opportunity to get to know staff and other guests alike. We found our room very comfortable being tastefully decorated in an island theme. Although not airconditioned, natural ventilation through screened louvers maintained a very pleasant temperature. Water was safe to drink with plentiful hot water in the room. Resort has beautiful gardens with wonderful birdsong.
The restaurant/reception is located by the beach side with magnificent views. We had an al a carte breakfast included and while the menu was not extensive, the meals were delicious with options for most dietary preferences. There is also the option to eat at a neighbouring resort (Pacific Cove) which added variety.
Coco Beach is a little out of Port Vila by road but a quick 15 minute water taxi will have you comfortably in the centre of town. Snorkelling directly from the beach at the resort did not disappoint with water shoes and snorkelling equipment supplied by the resort. However, we would probably take our own equipment next time to ensure a comfortable fit. Water was warm and sea always calm adjacent to the resort with little current or swell. An easy 30 minute walk to the south west will take you to Honeymoon Beach. This marine reserve has fantastic snorkelling including a wide variety of coral and fish. A small fee of 500 vatu is paid per head to the friendly park custodians to support the reserve. We would recommend taking water and snacks for this lovely walk.
As a small resort we found the staff to be extremely attentive. Hiram (Manager) and Gina (Host) went out of their way to ensure a great stay. Tours, taxis and even umbrellas were organised for guests without a fuss and a good application of local knowledge. We particularly enjoyed a half-day tour organised with us visiting a cultural village, water falls, blue lagoon and turtle sanctuary (all organised through resort reception).
Without exception we found the locals to be extremely polite and courteous whether exploring local to the resort or in town. The Melanesian culture was widely on display in Vanuatu with the locals very proud of their heritage.
Flights direct to Sydney were on time for us but we were aware of delays for other travellers. However, with such a short flight, any delays may have little impact on your stay.
We would easily recommend Vanuatu and Coco Beach Resort to others looking for a relaxing island experience.

Drinks were expensive, however after buying two bottles of wine (XMAS dinner one night and a celebration in the room) we were informed that they were out of wine, so we could drink beer (Tusker). I don’t really drink beer.
Over the next seven days we found the following:
1. The resort is on sale and the maintenance has been kept up, the faults and items needed maintenance were very obvious, lights broken, fans that either would not work or were not controllable. Bathrooms with cobblestone walls that were missing section that allowed the local critters access, crabs and lizards.
2. Everything is an extra, as an example the coffee at breakfast is a thimble sized cup of plunger coffee (terrible taste) if you ask for another then that is an additional 450 on the account.
3. The location is wonderful, and the water is fantastic. This however if offset by the fact that you can’t get out from the resort very easily. Water Taxi is probably the most convenient however this cost 1000 V each and each way so a trip to town to get anything or see the sights costs a$50.
Additional:
Night 2 we were told to go somewhere else as the resort was being used for a local Birthday Party and there would be no cooking.
Night 4 we were told the cook had to take leave so there would be no local restaurant food. He had apparently worked too many shifts (really). The resort organized a taxi to get to town and find your own way back. (This was Christmas day.
Our room (the upgraded one) had the following problems, Fan Faulty, toilet bowl loose (not cemented down), outside sun lounge broken, path lights broken. One wash bowl broken; the second bowl worked.
The pool (saltwater) this pool was chlorine bombed and after jumping in it was found to be caustic, that is to say it actually left red welts on the skin, so basically at some stages un-usable.
The use of resort equipment is all well and good, however sanitary precautions are not enforced, or even available, so things like diving masks and snorkels were a pass from me.
To be honest there are a lot of other problems with this resort and after discussions with other guests, (who also booked with you) for the sake of brevity I have left these in my trip diary.
In summary: The location is wonderful. However, it was more like a survivor episode, with everyone at the resort having their hand out for more money for even the smallest item, water $8 a bottle coffee $6 for dishwater.

We had a wonderful 7 days in early November 2023.The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, particularly the Manager Hiram. There were a few little issues as the accommodation is a little tired but these were rectified quickly. We enjoyed the fact that the resort is located right on the beach and the water is crystal clear. The day we went into Port Vila the staff ordered us a taxi for the trip in and it was easy to flag a taxi for our return. The restaurant is to our style, casual and right on the water and the food was delicious.

So many great things about Coco Beach resort. The small number of villas meant the resort was limited on guests. This made the experience so much more enjoyable.
The staff and manager were wonderful. So friendly and helpful. Helped us book our trips and taxi transport. Always had time to chat to us and make us feel very welcome and relaxed. Typical of Vanuatu people generally.
Have to mention the Chef. All of his meals, bar none, were wonderful. Filling, tasty and wonderfully prepared.
Having breakfast and dinner right on the waters edge was awesome as well.
The location had views across the harbour to the other side of Efate and direct access for swimming and snorkelling off the beach. Direct access for the water taxi as well which made for a short 10 minute boat ride into the town centre.
The resort is a fair way out of the town centre by partly dirt road and through local villages but that is what Vanuatu is all about.
The villas themselves were clean and comfortable and very appropriate for the tropical climate. Well designed with natural ventilation and screening. And Well set out on the grounds of the resort.
Overall a wonderful stay at Coco Beach Resort and Vanuatu. And would certainly stay there again. Loved the afternoon cocktails too.

It seemed so remote when we got there but after discovering we could easily get into town by water taxi we did just that each day. Captain Nauru is the man and was always on time to pick us up and return us from our destinations. As our Sydney flight leaves just after 7am it was assuring to know they have a reliable airport transfer for our day of departure. Robert the Australian manager and Gina the assistant manager could not of been more helpful in all matters. Because of the recent back to back cyclones food was not as readily available especially fruit but Coco Beach resort did its best. The room we had was very comfortable and although we didn't have air conditioning , or TV it was great. Very relaxing holiday, I would definitely recommend it. There is a coral reef out front to snorkel in and a lovely pool . We were so well looked after. Some good restaurants in town include the newly renovated Stone Grill which is opposite a very good Thai restaurant.

Very accommodating staff who have always responded to our wishes. The cottages are clean, are lovingly prepared every day by Roomservice. Everything you need is there: in addition to shampoo and shower gel, conditioner and body lotion. Tea/coffee making facilities are also available.
Dinner is incredibly delicious and the equally rich breakfast is always freshly made.
The very friendly manager has always provided us with helpful tips and lots of interesting information about the country and people.
We say thank you and can fully recommend this resort!

This place is so beautiful to stay. The staff were really helpful and kind. The little bungalow we stayed in was roomy, air conditioned and equipped with everything you need to for a comfortable stay. Located right on the beach with perfect snorkeling just in front of your room. The restaurant made beautiful cocktails and the food was really nice and priced reasonably. Perfect honeymoon destination.

Day visitors are welcome to the restaurant. All resort facilities are for the use of in-house guest only. The resort caters for adults and children from the age of 12 years.
Plenty of taxis at airport as for cost from Airport to Coco Beach about 20mins a little Bumpy ride once getting closer to Coco cost average about $15-20 vau
Hi Julia
Coco Beach is a great place to stay. The bungalows are very pretty and well kept. The resort is beautiful and the staff so helpful and warm, just wonderful. I would go for a beachfront bungalow if available. Enjoy your holiday.
in CoCo Beach Resort we created a channel from the beach, 90 m long, 18 wide and 1.5 m deep at low tide. This gives you easy and comfortable access from the resort side for swimming, snorkling, kayaking and Stand up Paddle Boarding.
The local tour operator Cruise Away offers you also direct transfer from the resort to Port Vila and back ( Vt 1,000 one way) , or offers your great snorkeling trips and sunset tours in the area.
