We booked our week long holiday with Falkland Islands Holidays and after a stopover at Darwin House, we came to Pebble Island Lodge for 2 nights, which was perfect!

Pebble is the perfect place to start your trip in the Falklands...especially if you've never been before. Upon our arrival on the grass landing strip in our 8 seater plane, we were collected and driven about 5 minutes to the lodge. The lodge is an old farmhouse that has been added on to, it's very quiet and cozy. The common lobby is stocked with movies, games, books and an honesty bar and has windows all around with lovely green views in December. The dining room is also cozy and clean and a bird was nesting in the tree outside and feeding its young regularly while we were eating! Our rooms here were both twins with en-suite bath, they were large and comfortable, sleeping was quiet and peaceful with only the Falklands wind speaking. The food here was the best of our whole trip! Still thinking about that oreo cheesecake!

All of the touring here is guided, and when you get there you understand why! Unless you are a very experienced off-road driver, you would not want to drive yourself, plus there's the location as there's not really a map and no roads, then there's the distance to the penguin colonies which causes you to need to drive! Our first tour was a half day to the 'smaller' half of the island. We saw all 5 species of penguins that day and Josh, our guide, was excellent both at driving and telling us about the wildlife and the island history. Our second day was to the larger side of the island where we again saw all 5 species of penguins and spent quite a bit of time watching the rockhoppers at one location, and some time at the beach where the penguins were. This was the best rockhopper location, especially for photos....you could actually get into the rocks where they were hopping up and there was a large flat light colored space they hopped across which made for a really good background for photos. This was their 'highway' so you could actually quietly sit in the middle of it when none of them were around and then they would just hop around you on their way to/from the colony! What a thrill to get to see these guys so close and watch their funny behavior!

This rockhopper spot (where we also ate lunch up-wind!) was our favorite and Josh let us spend as long as we wanted at any spot we visited. There were also interesting War remains on the island Josh would give us the story for as we drove by..we could get out if we wanted to, but we opted not to.

That all being said, for people who have been to an island where you walk to everything, this might be a disappointment with all of the driving, but it was an excellent first few nights for us and we loved it!

We spent an extended holiday on the Falkland Islands, and Pebble Island was our first destination for a total of 4 nights. As on most islands, there is only one accomodation on Pebble Island. We loved it here! The rooms are comfortable with a good shower (not on all islands, because of water restrictions), very tasty food (packed lunch, 3-course dinner in the evening), driver service (either for tours or drop off), optional laundry service, self-service bar, common room... The wildlife is fantastic, Riccky is a perfect host. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!
P.S. Don't miss the rockhoppers cliff!

What a fantastic place to stay! Riki, Berna and Em are the best hosts. The food was beautiful, lovely home grown vegetables etc. They took great care about our dietery requirements, massive lunch boxes, beautiful homemade biscuits and cakes for smoko's, just lovely.

Its so unique to arrive somewhere and be given a car to jump into and drive to the lodge a few minutes from the airstrip and then to hire the car for 2 days at a great rate.

Nothing is any hassle for Riki, a very friendly fuuny guy who is always there when needed and always popping in to check things are ok.

The first day after a lovely smoko followed by lunch, we drove around the east end of the island ourselves after Riki showed us where various things were on the map. We had a great time, the sun was shining and we saw loads of wildlife plus the stunning white beach.

The next day after a good nights sleep, we headed out with other groups and explored the west end of Pebble, visiting the Coventery Cross and various remains of different Argentine aircraft that are scattered around, with talks by Riki at each site. We learnt a lot from Riki about 1982.

Beautiful scenery and we had a look in some caves and had lunch on a little beach in amongst the Gentoo penguins, so lovely to be able to do that, the penguins werent bothered at all.

My favourite, like everyones elses i am sure are, the little rockhoppers, such characters.

Penguins all varieties just everywhere you went, a beautiful experience.

Riki, Berna and Em should be proud of how they run such a fantastic business out there.

Thankyou and we will be back.

Chris & Julio

We had a wonderful time on Pebble. It was like home from home for us all. Very relaxed atmosphere, excellent hospitality and food. Rooms are spotless and all en suite, lovely lodge, there is an honesty bar in the lounge and we were all supplied with a packed lunch on Sunday for our day out travelling around. Would highly recommend Pebble Island for a holiday destination and you won't be disappointed with your hosts at Pebble Lodge. Huge thanks to Riki, Berna and the chef for the amazing time we had there.

This was my first visit to Pebble Island: I stayed for 4 nights. Riki, the owner, couldn’t have been more helpful. My room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable and the food was great. There’s an honesty bar in the sitting room and Riki will make up a packed lunch if you’re going to be out during the day. If you visit, I can recommend taking a guided tour of the island.

Another truly delightful island in the Falklands archipelago. The Pebble Island Lodge is commodious, very comfortable throughout and most welcoming. The meals were excellent and plentiful ( great packed lunches too). We did an excellent 4WD tour (full day) of the island looking primarily at the significant sites involved in the 1982 conflict with Argentina - we had a first class guide who really knew what he was talking about too. During this tour we were also able to see much of the diverse wildlife around the island, not least several types of penguins (rockhopper, macaroni and magellanic), petrels (northern and southern), cormorants (rock and imperial), dolphins, steamer ducks and many many more. Also did some excellent walking along the extensive length of Elephant Beach (many seabirds). In addition we had time before our mid-morning flight back to Stanley to walk up to the HMS Coventry memorial on First Mountain - splendid views. Three days was insufficient time in which to enjoy all that this place has to offer

This a wonderful and comfortable place to stay on Pebble Island (though there are few alternatives). The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The food is excellent and includes home grown produce. The staff are welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. The staff who conduct the tours are knowledgeable and friendly and allow plenty of time to explore your specific interests. The lodge is well placed for exploring the local military history, natural environment and spectacular wildlife. The lodge is also within easy walking distance of the beautiful Elephant Beach.

A must see destination!

Pebble Island Lodge is extremely cosy and well equipped for all; there's an honesty bar situated in the main lounge for those of you who wish to have a tot or two along with plenty of books and games. We had a lovely comfortable stay in the room which HRH Duke of Kent stayed in, back in 2012.

There is an abundance of wildlife to see, such as the Rockhopper Penguins, Striated Caracara and many other species of bird. There are many beautiful beaches across the Island and literally on the doorstep. You can get out either on foot or by vehicle tour. Opting for a vehicle was highly recommended as there is so much to see.

We had the most amazing time made memorable by the hosts and their homely hospitality and high quality meals. (Including packed lunches if you wish to get out and about).
You won't go hungry!

Thanks Riki and Bernadette for a wonderful stay we can't wait to return.

We spent three nights here as part of a tour of the Falklands Islands. The lodge is clean, warm, bright, spacious, well equipped and good quality. The bedrooms are very comfortable with a good shower. There was a good selection for breakfast including some fresh fruit which was a treat (rare in the Falklands due to supply issues). Dinner was 3 courses and delicious. generous packed lunches were supplied daily.
We liked that Riki checked in with his guests each day to see if all was Ok, we didn't always encounter this at other lodges.
We had two days of guides tours as it's a long island and difficult to cover on foot. Alex was our guide for both of those days and was truely excellent. We were allowed to spend as long as we wished at locations of interest to us, saw something of the history of the Island and learnt so much about farming and life in the Falklands generally. Among the highlights included watching dolphins surfing waves and whales feeding along with several thousand birds at Tamar Point. We also saw lots of penguins.

I live in the Falklands so for me this is a local holiday. usually I visit for 3-4 days. There are also several other lodges in other Falklands locations. Try contacting International Tours and Travels here in Stanley I cant post a link here, but google and that that is probably the best way for you to arrange things from off the Island.

Hi David, I hope you recieved our e-mail, I thought I would also post a reply here for any future guests, As our lovely guest above mentions, the island is packed with fabulous wildlife, conflict history and Falkland farming history. It is a beautiful island 30km long and we offer full day tours to both the East and the West ends which have very different landscape experiences to offer including mountains, sea cliffs, pebble beaches, fresh water ponds and the longest sand beach in the Falklands. While we are listed on TripAdvisor as being in Stanley we are in fact an island in the north west corner of the Falklands and you get here by FIGAS who fly daily and adapt their schedule to fit demand. It would be our pleasure to have you to stay if you make it here and to show you this wonderful and unique corner of the world, I hope you have a wonderful cruise, Best Wishes, Cat
