Detailed Reviews
Portobello has a great location literally just across the road from the patrolled Dicky Beach; there's also a restaurant downstairs and a few cafes / takeaways in the small strip of shops alongside it. The surf club is also just a couple of minutes walk away.
Our two bedroom apartment was clean and quite spacious, including a small veranda. Bed was comfy, shower was all good, the kitchen worked well.
We enjoyed our two night stay, definitely a good option if you are looking to stay in this part of Caloundra.

We stayed in Unit 20 on the first floor which is a 2 bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms. There was a laundry with a washer and dryer, kitchenette with everything you'd need to prepare a meal, dining table with 6 chairs, a lounge area with adequate seating for us all. There was an array of tv channels to pick from our you could stream from your phone. The main bedroom had a smaller TV and a walk in wardrobe. There was an outdoor table with 3 chairs on the balcony but the weather was too humid to enjoy it. A bonus was a restaurant, chemist and bws downstairs. Just a short distance was a fish and chip shop, IGA, ice cream shop, Cafe etc. It was a 5 minute walk to the surf club where we enjoyed cocktails, pizza etc.

After reading previous reviews I was feeling anxious about our stay. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in unit 58 which was clean and appeared to have been updated recently. The unit is position on the interior of complex with an outlook onto pool area from third floor. Very quiet and comfortable. The location of complex is fantastic too as the beach is just across the road and you can also walk easily to Moffatt Beach. Downstairs of street frontage is a delicious local Thai restaurant.

Nice open room. Basic supplies and then they charge you $2 for toilet paper! You get one gig internet free per day, too bad you can’t get on. The air conditioner is woefully inadequate for the size of the room. And the stairs! There are no elevators so if you have bad knees like me stay elsewhere.
We paid 250 per night over the long weekend. It was the cheapest place we could find, but I would have spent more to get a/c, lift and toilet paper.

after staying here three times in the past we were looking forward to our stay.
This visit was terrible, the place was having something done to the building and I wasn't told of this (we wouldn't have gone) so we couldn't use the grubby looking balcony on any day for breakfast as too noisy.
The apartment was overdue to be trashed and re fitted out.
Bedroom was ok and lounge furniture borderline (could do with a shampoo) but the kitchen cooktop was rusty, the dishwasher handle was almost broken off so difficult to open and close. The dryer would only go when door was jiggled and part open, the washing machine top couldn't be opened fully as the dryer had been hung too low. The sweeping brush must have been purchased when the place opened and the bathroom needed a proper thorough cleaning the grout was yucky half way up the wall, toilet was pretty yucky- this is basic hygiene.
Management discarded my concern about the building work not being advised and wasn't interested in our visit, they had my money up front and gave us what was obviously the worst apartment.
I agree with previous comments on here the place had gone to the dogs- management you need to up your game especially on the cleaning, this was not being done properly every time. I saw the cleaning trolley and it only had one spray for cleaning! We didn't enjoy our stay and won't be back which is a shame as there is a great pool (not sure if that was being monitored twice a day?) and handy to the beach and just a few minutes drive to Caloundra.

They charged an extra $923 to my credit card (confirmed by my bank and booking.com) and are keep saying they didn’t do it and won’t return my money. Do not stay there unless you want to be ripped off. I have rung the manager and he is denying that he charged me even though it is on my bank statement and the bank has confirmed it is the same merchant.

+1
A spacious apartment which is great for families. It’s well situated with the beach across the road. There is a boardwalk under construction which will like all the nearby beaches. A great selection of good cafes, restaurants, liquor store and IGA downstairs. The only problem we’ve had was that the floor needed a mop, one of the showers looked dirty with soap scums on the shower screen and no spare toilet paper rolls (existing rolls were almost running out!!). We’ve only found 4 towels for a booking for 6 people. The parking was easy downstairs of the building and the luggage trolleys were handy. Will definitely visit again.

Have stayed here quite a number of times over the past six years and it was great. Last time in August 2022, new managers and it's a great pity the way it has deteriorated. The grounds and gardens are run down and not maintained, stairways and stairwells unkempt and dirty and our room (32) was very dirty. I had to sweep and mop the floors before we felt comfortable. Balcony can only be described as filthy and the bedding didn't fit the beds and had holes in the sheets. There were personal items left in the wardrobe and overall a very disappointing experience. Would not stay again and defiantelt not recommend.

We had a top floor front apartment with ocean views. Great location, unit very clean and well appointed. Plenty of parking underneath and a peaceful pool area. Only issue is that there’s only one lift so be prepared to climb about 50 stairs to get to the top units. Definitely recommend.

While our apartment was quite spacious and its furniture in good condition, the bathroom was dated and not that clean (spots, rust and even some mould). Management was really friendly but cleaning personnel woke us up twice just after 6 am!
