Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On entering the property through the Security gate you are struck by the magnificent garden driveway leading to grand house. Met by owners Jon & Shirley who gave us a guided tour of our accommadation, the rooms had beautiful vistas of the gardens. Your own sitting room with complimentary wine, beer, mixer drinks and fresh baked biscuites and cake. Bedroom contained very comfortable bed, nice shower, roomy, well furnished , could not ask for more & a freshly prepared cooked breakfast to start your day.

Hadleigh Lodge is the ultimate lodge experience, nothing is too much trouble for John and Shirley. The suite, with large open doors into the 5 acre garden and swimming pooling, has everything you could possibly want. Walk in wardrobe with a fridge full of complimentary goodies and drinks, an enormous pile of the fluffiest, whitest towels and a power shower and double washbasins.
Shirley cooked a superb 3 course breakfast and we were set for the day to visit Hamilton Gardens, another gem.
Unfortunately we leave tomorrow and will miss the pampering and of course Holly the Labrador.

Our family of 4 stayed at Hadleigh for 2 nights, using both the upstairs and downstairs suites. Both the house and extensive gardens are immaculately maintained and lovely to stay in. The garden could be in a magazine and guests are welcome to enjoy roaming through it. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and hosts Jon and Shirley open up many other rooms including the library for use by guests. The breakfasts each morning made by Shirley who went the extra mile to meet our dietary requirements were generous. Welcome drinks and canapés with on our first night was a lovely introduction and the heated swimming pool was a hit with our sons.

We couldn’t fault the lodge and highly recommend it.

Jon and Shirley were warm and generous hosts. We felt privileged to share their beautiful house and garden and appreciated all the many flourishes they added to make our stay an unforgettable one. Ample size accommodation with separate sitting room, comfortable bed, home made refreshments and fresh flowers. Wonderful.

The hosts, Shirley, Jon (and Holly), offer genuine, warm hospitality. The house is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. The Kotare suite; bedroom, ensuite and lounge, has quality furnishings, is spacious and private. The complimentary evening drinks and canapés were a delightful treat and the breakfast was five star. There were many other thoughtful touches and attention to detail that made this an exceptional stay.

My wife and I and another couple spent two nights at Hadleigh early in September.
We were first time guests but Shirley and Jon treated us as if we were family friends.
The accomodation was purpose built and the lovely garden and grounds have been
meticulously planned and developed and were a joy to walk around.
Our rooms were a good size and were thoughtfully equipped and each had a full
view of the gardens. Breakfast was a treat and our individual preferences happily
catered for. Complimentary drinks and canapés were provided each evening.
The Lodge is set in the lush Cambridge area and conveniently close to Hamilton.
Hadleigh Lodge is outstanding and outstanding value and we give it our highest
recommendation .

We stayed at Hadleigh for one night and it was an amazing experience from start to finish.

The accomodation and grounds were 5*++, but what really made the difference were the hosts Jon and Shirley. Nothing was too much trouble, including driving us into Hamilton City. A complimentary mini bar was provided, along with baked treats, and a breakfast fit for a king!

If you've been thinking of exploring more of New Zealand and feel like being spoiled, give Hadleigh a visit - you won't want to leave!

The mansion is just a beautiful spot to spend a night or two. Jon and Shirley are a lovely and fun couple who run the huge place and do everything to make you feel at home. Be sure to give Holly a belly rub to ensure the extra cozy feeling and enjoy the luxurious breakfast with sight on the huge garden with pool, sculptures and trees.

This was our first experience in a bed and breakfast type stay.
I can honestly say it far exceeded our expectations - Jon and Shirley are amazing hosts, their hospitality was fantastic and we felt more like long lost friends rather than strangers. The home extremely comfortable and the gardens are wonderful to stroll around.
We had a truly memorable stay and would happily recommend Hadleigh to anyone.

There is nothing we could fault about our three night stay. Jon helped with restaurant bookings, was our private chauffeur in his dashing white Porche and he and Shirley made every aspect of our stay a delight. Shirley excelled with scrumptious breakfasts. They are both friendly but not intrusive hosts.
I would recommend this wonderful lodge without hesitation.
A very special highlight was Holly the Golden Retriever. She has customer service off pat ( excuse the pun)
